    Came for the boas, stayed for the burms. Glad to see some good burm content. Always helps put my mind at ease with mine. She was a pain to get eating consistently after her arrival. She finally eats well and I'll move her up in rat size and adjust the schedule based on what you said. I generally left her alone until she started eating well now I need to socialize her.

      That’s the way to do it though. Focus on feeding and then the handling.

    Jason thanks go much man. I got my hypo burm about 1.5 years ago. I still watch these video because I like to hear from others. Look forward to buying from you so I can pair up my hypo female to one of your hypo males. Could you do a brief video next for Burmese python? I know you have one for the past but now you’re redoing things.

    This was great. For me i think a retic would be far too big. But a male burm would be perfect. i know i could get a dwarf or super-dwarf retic, but as far as full size snakes go, Burms are at the top of my list.

    This was very helpful I have a 6’ pearl Burm , she’s 1 year and currently has 9 square feet of enclosure space so upgrade is coming soon I’m building her a 5’ by 3’ by 2 1/2’ custom enclosure and was wondering how long that would hold up, I was also looking for a new substrate, I had cypress then added repti soil for cushion and it did not work well imo, to dusty and fine so I think I’ll try your coco block next, thanks for the info as always and Luna says hello, she’s not so thrilled with you since I changed her to 14 day cycle 😂

      That should last for a few more years. Once they get larger bodies they really need more length, but that will do for a while!

    My ivory i got from you definitely loves birds. He smashes chicks. For some reason he doesn't like wet rodents so I have to blow dry them or else he just sniffs them and goes back into his hide lol.

    I’ve had seven pythons I got this year die on me the past two months. Spent almost 2 thousand bucks on vets checking causes of death and they can’t find why besides heart complications from eating. Both my macklots pythons died.
    I have thought about getting out of pythons but I’m gonna stick with it. I put so much effort into making sure things were done right and triple checking stuff and it’s discouraging and frustrating.

      It sounds like there may be something bigger going on over there. Have you considered getting them tested for viruses? If there is one message, I wish I could get across to people, it would be that anytime you purchase an animal, you are also purchasing the person you bought it from. You need to be able to trust that they have kept their animals, clean and disease free. A lot of people buy based on price or looks alone and they neglect Everything else that could’ve gone on behind the scenes. I’ve seen people’s whole collections get wiped out because they took one chance on a low price animal from somebody that seemed fine but was not. I’m not saying that this is what’s happening with you, but to have 4 pythons die in a short time is not normal assuming your care is good.

    • @JK-vy8vh
      @JK-vy8vh 12 днів тому

      @ I’ve been stressing on that and yes I branched out into other breeders through a trusted import business. I have learned my lesson. Thankfully the vets said no viruses. I had mites come in to my quarantine from my gf thankfully I followed your video long before and got control of the situation. I may have made a mistake with the water temps.
      Another thing is they all died after putting on some nice size. Everything’s looking better but Im taking the strictest quarantine measures even further just in case it’s what you say. Appreciate your take on viruses, Its is why I clean my hooks before using on another snake and have so much dedicated equipment to each and every snake I keep.

      @@seanchurchill5844 very few provinces allow it but even then there is still restrictions and i dont plan on hopping provinces in search of a place just to have a giant snake. Guess I'll buy a boa and hope it gets big 🤷‍♀️

    Hot take: i think burmese pythons are naturally bigger/bulkier than retics

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  Місяць тому +1

      That’s a fact. Retics are longer but burms are heavier on a length to weigh ratio.

    • @annakevlin8634
      @annakevlin8634 29 днів тому

      So is that still a hot take or just a hot fact 😂

    • @benjo8547
      @benjo8547 29 днів тому +1

      Could’ve sworn I see a lot of retic people saying stuff like retics are bigger than burms and potentially anacondas. Maybe. But in general to me it seems that burms are just naturally bulkier.

    • @annakevlin8634
      @annakevlin8634 29 днів тому

      @benjo8547 also consider the type of keeper who concerns themselves with stuff like that.
      A healthy, happy snake is what matters.

    Why do these guys always seem to want to eat while Balls are so bad about not eating at all?

    • @JasonsExoticReptiles
      @JasonsExoticReptiles  Місяць тому

      That’s ball pythons. It’s exactly why I never recommend ball pythons and feel they are WAY overhyped as good pets.

    • @sarahhubbard5659
      @sarahhubbard5659 28 днів тому

      @EdgedShadow I have had hundreds of bps. They eat with no problem. All the new fads on how they should be kept lead to animals that don't eat. An animal not eating is not a happy animal no matter how fancy the enclosure looks.
      Occasionally, my breeder males won't eat the entire winter season, but besides that, they launch out for the f/t rats.

    I think it should be against the law to sell this things because people buy them and then they don't want them and they turn them out in the Everglades.Or wherever and now it's eaten up.All the other animals should be against the law

    • @SmilingJimsConstrictors
      @SmilingJimsConstrictors День тому

      The Everglades went populated from let go animals. There was a facility hit by natural disaster.
