    I still remember arguing with my friends in college that Curry was going to be a star in the league after watching this tourney run. 12 years later I still have the bragging rights on this prediction.

      I would of been one of those guys arguing with you... Loved his game, but didn't think it would translate to the NBA because of his size... Boy was I wrong, wrong, wrong... and I have watched him torch my Spurs ever since.

      @@Youngdanny45 I always thought Rubio was hype but I like your comment about Knicks. I was a Knicks fan that was a big believer in Curry and was dying for Knicks to draft him but he didnt make it I was devastated. I was going to UNC Charlotte at the time and our school is rivals with Davidson. Saw Curry torch us and knew he was going to be a good NBA player before the March Madness run so that just was complete confirmation to me that he was going to be a star in NBA. They mention his game against Charlotte in the video he had 34 or 36 points. Man when the Knicks missed out on him that was the most devastated I've been in reaction to a Knicks draft which also says something.

I watched plenty of his regular season games and they were using football defenses on him with a 2nd man always near him even without the ball. Thirteen Years after I first viewed this incredible, inspirational run, I stumbled on it again. I remember watching the Gonzaga game in 2008 and the initial Curry explosion and saying "Dell's son. Yup. NBA for Sure." and then "This guy's gonna go on a roll.". DAMN, BACK THEN I WAS SPOT ON. When they beat Georgetown I said to my boys "Stephen Curry's gonna scare the living crap out of Kansas in the Elite Eight." I knew they would beat Wisconsin easily (Big Ten. Always too slow defensively, I thought years ago.) and I had my heart in my chest watching the Kansas Highlights as I did that Sunday Afternoon when I was so hopeful for Curry and Davidson. You felt Bill Self's fear when he tried many defensive schemes. Nothing worked. Rush couldn't stop him, nor could Chalmers or the Amoeba Trick D/Box and One. As I watched Davidson go toe-to-toe with the perennial heavyweight I kept thinking years ago, "They need one more player." Sadly, the last shot proved me right. The broadcast team was ridiculous to think that the Jayhawks were gonna let Curry get that shot off; they threw the kitchen sink at the kid. Now I bet CHEF CURRY, the TWO-TIME MVP/THREE TIME CHAMPION WITH UNLIMITED RANGE WOULD HAVE BEATEN THE CRAZY D, but not that guy, that day. And in hindsight, I'm glad, because I bet any amount of money because of that moment, today we see the greatest shooter the game has ever known with a sick ball handle.

    It was during this tournament that I found out that his dad was Del Curry of Virginia tech in that early 80's Era. I saw him go head to head, shot for shot, Mano to Mano against the famous Dr. dunkinstien, Darrell Griffin ofLouisville and never forgot how del was so ultra smooth. It made total sense that steph was a chip off the old block

    First time ive seen Steph's collegiate games. Even before his NBA career, he was already a deadly and terrorizing other teams with his extraordiray skills. His performance before compared to his present ones are almost the same. What has changed is his youthfulness. iF i have not seen the present, i can still say he is a shoe in to the NBA and most of all a great attraction to the league. Best shooter and a remarkable player in NBA history. One of my favorite to have donned the basketball jersey.

      Reality of the nba at the time Curry was drafted: LeBron was big time and the blueprint type player teams wanted to build around. Also Curry was playing shooting guard in college and teams didn't know if he could play PG and was too small for SG. But mainly because teams weren't heavily invested into actually developing players but wanted instant stars.

    • @Nikohhh04
      @Nikohhh04 Рік тому

      @@marz4021 all this shows is that you should never choose aesthetics over skill. Steph is 6’3. Bigger than some if not most pgs even today. Muscle mass and core strength can be achieved. Got to go with skill over anything. Him and Draymond really changed what scouts are looking for now out of the guards and forward position. And this is after they were labeled undersized or tweeners
