Gagaling talaga mag-English ng mga taga Mt. Province. Galing nila talaga.

lmao it's because they're one of the provinces who got the highest literacy rate. Why? Because of LOW POPULATION. Why? They don't make lots of babies and many people, most especially the youth are leaving.

I'm a proud Igorot. My father grew up in Mankayan, Benguet. He only finished 3rd year high school due to poverty but he was so fluent in English. His grammatical skills are great, even his choice of words. When I thought I was really really good in English, he makes me feel like a beginner.😕😂😂

As a Specialty Coffee Barista. I admit, Sagada Coffee my personal favorite because of its flavor, it has a defined sweetness with balanced acidity and light to medium mouthfeel. Just process it right from picking the coffee cherries to roasting. It would win in any coffee competitions in the world.

I know that the Philippines in the early days, was a leading producer of coffee since coffee was introduced by the Spaniards via the Galleon trade from Mexico and many plantations have coffee trees by producing its beans, including Batangas (and also included Lipa City which is best known). Until the arrival of the Americans and instant coffee, production has declined not only these, but also pests and diseases such as the coffee blight, a fungal disease, but Filipino coffee has been a comeback with a revival in production.

To God be the glory

I really believe there is real gold in the mountains of sagada. Been there in 2017, and while we were hiking at dawn, I was surprised when the soil we were walking on was shimmering everytime I shine my flashlight on the ground. It's like someone sprinkled glitters on the ground. Our guide back then told us that they also believe that there is gold in their mountains, but they won't allow anyone even their local men to mine it as to preserve and protect the pristine mountains and forest in their area.

I couldn't just believe that some plants have an influence in the taste of coffee- like peanuts or ube. I never read about such a thing. I thought that the best coffee is from Batangas which is normally what one hears. Here in the U.S. I tasted many kinds of coffee that are brewed in a cup-like containers ( mostly Keurig) that are just put in a coffee maker and presto. I hope to try some of those from Sagada. It was a nice coffee-feature by Howie.

I loved this episode way back before Christmas 2018, when Sagada coffee is a specialty of this town in Mt. Province became well known to many because of its richness, aroma and a sweet taste with their coffee beans. Some of the provinces in the Cordillera (Benguet, Mt. Province, Kalinga and Abra) began planting coffee trees and they produced lots of coffee beans, the source of this favorite beverage, mostly of arabica variety, they were introduced at the end of the Spanish period, the other is the liberica variety in Batangas down south of Luzon, which they called Kapeng Barako, because of its strong taste, which also introduced since the days of that period.
