Later I heard they got really popular in the states, and got a lot of radio play, especially in the Bible belt, but I never heard them on Canadian radio. Then today I'm driving home from work as a 30 year old, and I hear this song on the radio, immediately I'm like "I know that voice". I finally got to hear TFK on a secular radio station in Ontario. So cool! Awesome song!

This song perfectly describes my Asperger Syndrome. The verses pretty much describe what I think all the time. I wear a (metaphorical) mask all the time to hide what I'm really feeling, but I just want to die all the time. The "running with giants" is basically saying I'm running along with these giant obstacles, such as trying to pick up on and understand social cues, trying to deal with my anger, etc, and the "unspoken alliance" is saying that really, having Aspergers isn't a bad thing. It's honestly a gift. The "I feel the pressure of ten men" part speaks to me especially because I always feel pressured to do something perfectly and if it's not perfect, it's wrong, and I get really depressed, but then I tell myself "I'm not a freak. I'm not defective. I'm me, and nobody's gonna change that" (I feel the strength that's from within kicking down the doors and walls are coming in)It's not a religious interpretation, since I am an atheist, but with my own interpretation of the song, it really speaks to me. This is probably my favourite song in TFK's entire catalogue.
