- The robot master boss fights are probably the most iconic thing about Mega Man. But a great Mega Maker boss fight does not only need to have a dangerous foe, a great Mega Maker bossfight also needs a unique gimmick. Today we are going to take a look on nine different and hopefully useful designs for boss-fights in Mega Maker.

Fantastic video and incredibly informative, as always. I'm definitely going to borrow some of these ideas for my own future boss fights. I've got one right now that is a long, multilayered corridor and uses Top Man that I think people may really enjoy.
Thank you for mentioning my one-way portal tutorial. I've since heard from developers that though this is a glitch and was not originally intended, it's currently planned to remain in Mega Maker since it's so useful.

I just downloaded Mega Maker and was trying to make levels based on the Palaces in Persona 5, but the levels I made are complete crap. This video helped inspire me how to spice up boss fights as I wanted to make them more than just slug fests. :)

These are fantastic ideas, and just the other day I was actually thinking about having a boss where where you have to use Search Snakes to climb the walls, haha. Also I couldn't help but find "Dr Willy" amusing. :D I love how you're making videos for Mega Maker now, and it's such a great thing to come out for Mega Man's 30th anniversary!

I had the idea of making a boss that was invincible (ie: immune to your only weapon)... and I think there is a boss chasing you level with that concept out there.

I played a level where you had to use the topspin to bounce on enemies so you can run from Napalm man as he follows you. Best boss fight I've found in this game.

i actually found the one way teleporter glitch on my own, as well as a way of clipping into walls with boss doors
I found a glitch. The echo reflector, or "shine", interacts strangely with springs: while using it, springs will bounce you extra high. If you hold jump then use it, you fly into the air, about a screen and a half up. I used this in the level "Boss Challenge 1" by Druian. Hope this... helps? I guess?

I also came up with a design where you have no weapons to fight the Robot Master, but instead need to create holes in the floor (I used timed bomb platforms for this) so that the Robot Master can fall down below.
Also if anyone wants to see an example of this, the ID is 112028.
i posted a lvl on mega maker called knight man insta kill which shows off a strange mechanic in where for some reason if knight man is trapped for some reason he will jump and teleport somehow and because the whole screen is covered with tiles knight man has no place to teleport to but down which kills him (this occurs after about 5 seconds)

Making the cut an fight at the beginning more difficult:
Add a few bullet shooting stationary enemies on walls and ceilings, making a BULLETHELL boss fight.

Hey Ceave! i'm getting Mario Maker soon, and i would like to know if there are any good ways to stop players skipping boss battles?
You could drag keys onto the boss, and put a locked door, make the boss ride a clown car and use the clown car to go up to an otherwise unreachable door, have the door a wall of wood blocks, which are unbreakable until a skewer breaks through layer by layer. Hopes this helps.

make a huge line of dust blocks
Place a lot of robot masters on the line
make every explosive available as well as item 2
place some backrounds to add some pazzazz
add 1 health and ammo spawner per screen (optional)
Walaa, this makes a game where you have to reach the end and make the robot masters fall to their doom.

Hey everyone! I know it's a bit promotional but this video gave me a brilliant level design idea and it's online in Mega Maker right now. If you'd like to play it, the level is called Topmans Spring Factory
Bonuses idea:make a tall arena and make napulm man fight mega man/proto man, but put disappearing and reappearing platforms, the silver ones in the arena. I used it in a level called “the getaway chapter 1” try it out!

on a scale of 1/error how much do you hate airman buster only? I personally have to go with error
what about a stage were you have no weapon and only the Proto shield to deflect attacks

This was too funny
I remember making a level (megamanmaker.com/?level=255821 if you wanna play it hehe) where i used Shade Man for the boss fight and i put deadly spikes on the floor and platforms to jump in order to avoid the spikes (tho it wasnt too hard the boss fight since these platforms were kinda big and you could only fall if you werent paying attention) and i think it fit really well since it makes the boss fight more dinamic and also staying the same gameplay as a normal boss fight.
Sadly, i could only use Shade Man since whit other Robot Masters they usually went down to the spiky hole and get stuck there, making the fight impossible to win...

Are people allowed to use your mario maker ideas? I've seen quite a few copies recently.
He posts them on UA-cam so that people will use them. Even if he didn't want people to, he couldn't say people aren't allowed to as you can build your level however you please. And keep in mind they may not be copies, but just a coincidense.

I have made some other various bosses using not any weapon gimmicks. Instead I use various things in mega maker to make hazards. For example, in one of my earlier levels, "Mega Man Galaxy - Sky Nile Galaxy" (that's word for word btw), I made a fight using pharaoh man on a platform that spans about 2 and a half screens. (Screeeeens) he is immune to the mega buster, so yo gotta either trick him into jumping off the area and dying, or make like Mario and spin attack him. Of course, both are easier said than done, because there and enemies firing shots at you from under the floor. Another level of mine, "Nobody Said there'd Be Math", has a spark man in a normal looking room. There are some platforms so you don't caught taking a hit- wait, did green force beams just appear on the lower level? Yep, you are playing the lower level is lava with this boss.
