In the aftermath of Nasser, my parents always flew KLM between Istanbul and Cairo back in the days when airlines used to do those short haul, milk run routes. I also flew KLM from Istanbul to Cairo in 1977. For us, KLM always meant class, elegance, reliability and top notch service. I thought KLM stopped flying to Cairo, but I'm glad I was wrong. I hope to return to Cairo someday soon too, and I'll make a point of flying back there on KLM again!
Schipol Airport has a really cool baggage system that’s fully automated until the baggage is loaded onto the plane. From high speed tub tracks to baggage collecting robots, the Dutch have really innovated this technology!
I always fly KLM for economy short haul. I find while the seats are not the biggest, or the legroom the best. I fit in the seats fine and that's good enough. The app is easy to use and the staff are always friendly. I just don't want to risk trying another airline and have the embarrassment of too small seats or need a seatbelt extension (I'm a pretty big guy).
The Short haul city hoppers, especially the E 175 is terrible. The seats are so hard and legroom is not great. I completely agree on you with the app and the staff! Lovely! But i can assure you you wont have any issues fitting into other airlines seats as KLMs Cityhoppers fo have pretty small seats imo. Just stay away from Ryanair and Spirit (USA) if you’re afraid you wont fit! ;)

The flight time is only about 3,5 hours, Why they use B 777 300ER (usually used for long haul above 7 hours flight). Or maybe they fleet is in vacant condition or not in used in pandemic time. Just curious..
Probably to keep the various aircraft in the fleet used somewhat, and also to maintain their pilots' training regimes and type ratings (which require a certain number of flight hours to maintain).
I flew KLM from Delhi to Amsterdam a few days ago. A $800 economy class one-way ticket got me atrocious food, a seat in a part of the plane that was more akin to a maternity ward with children and infants wailing and screaming all night long...and ended up with badly damaged luggage. The leg space was reasonable and the flight crew was cheerful though.
Now that’s a classy safety video. So much better than a bunch of dancers flitting about or a group of airline employees telling us half truths about how happy they are to serve us.
