That turned out to be a pretty solid radio with clear sound. The quality of programming on AM broadcast stations today certainly wasn't what it was in its heyday, roughly 1930's-70's. It's better today than the way it was in the 1920's, when very few communities even had a radio station, and the broadcast stations that existed had 75-watt transmitters, and in rare cases, the more powerful 500-watt transmitters.

Hi, You brought up something that I totally agree with you about, namely that AM radio stations generally don't give a rat's bottom about their AM stations.
It is a means to an end, namely a license to operate an FM station.
    legally or not.
I heard all this stupidity about saving AM radio by giving the stations FM licenses, and there is no f ing way that will save AM.
It just comes cloaer and closer to killing any over the air free radio programming.
Even Major market AM broadcasters are running on empty, 90 percent of the ads are nothing but per inquey robo ads, and a lot of their revinue comes from the internet.
The AM noise floor is so rotten you can hardly listen to a local station even if you wanted to
I always enjoy your videos, and your comments always make sense, even when we disagree about some point or another, your reasoning is always sound.
Thanks for all the work you do for your viewers.
    Your Friend,
    Darryl

I had a radio like that one. Broke a couple of buttons on it also. Was a good dependable radio.

Njce to see you back a little more, Brian. I see it looks like your back to the old camera? Id have to agree with Shango and the way it makes your voice stand iut better. Its perfect for voice even if the other one may have been higher quality. It tended to attenuate sounds in the cocal range. Or peehaps it was juat the mic placement. Good basic refresh vid and halpful for the newbies that have been steadily climbing in numbers. Nice to see this trend! On a side note.. I just picked up a SS Zenith console in that 73/74 year range. Got me wondering on those capacitors. Doing an assessment tomorrow, so ill be on the lookout for those crappy caps. Dont need my CRT getting necked. That's crazy. I take it you've seen a few eh?

"Abusive" is code for I want a divorce and all his stuff and a part of his paycheck for the rest of my life.
But you are right in genuine cases of abuse, the signs were all there. Moreover, their mother warned them, their friends warned them, their brothers warned them. But they didn't want to hear it.

Oddly American Radionic Company (Now AmRad) is still making capacitors in 2024, mostly just for motors now.
