@@hansduroseauthe whole core of the magic-bird story is them going from bitter rivals to close friends. the clear build up to that makes this the worst anticlimax possible. I think the show is insanely expensive so it would need killer ratings to stay on air
Such a shame there won't be a season3. I feel there is still so much of the story to be told. Hopefully it comes back or we get a future sports series like this.
After watching the Legacy documentary on this same story of Dr. Buss, his family and the Lakers and their stars... I thought we're gonna keep going with this show until the Kobe era... Cos there's a whole lotta more interesting stories, fights, power grabs to be told... Guess not.
If they knew there was a possibility of the show ending in January(Variety) they really should’ve scrapped the Honey plot line and focused more on Pat, worthy, scott etc. like yea she was a stand in for Vanessa Buss, but cmon, it’s about the showtime lakers. And because of the montage at the end that basically removes the possibility of any other network picking it up. Ending on a Celtics win is horrible
the strike has messed a lot of things up and the ratings are ok but the show is extremely expensive. this has been happening for a long time, back in the day deadwood and rome were on paper pretty successful but had insane budgets. it took GoT being one of the biggest things in the history to get a bigger budget
I just read it wasn’t renewed. The viewership wasn’t there and we all know these big corporations want numbers that in turn equal money in their pockets. They said with the writers strike going on it didn’t allow the actors to promote it and that hurt the series. Surely someone else will pick it up. It was a great series. I looked forward to watching it every Sunday night. Sad it’s ending. I never expected this was the last one tonight. John C. Riley was FANTASTIC
@@angeliqueparker724 hopefully, it will come back in the future. But maybe, there's a opportunity for a spinoff of that show with the Kobe and Shaq era, or the 90's Bulls or the 90's Dallas Cowboys.
They're rumored to be close to doing the Jordan era Bulls. Salli Richardson Whitfield is the Winning Time creator, who is also from Chicago. There's articles about it.
I’m so mad HBO cancelled Winning Time. Same BS they pulled with Westworld S4. Don’t promote it at all and then cancel and blame it on ratings. Another great show lost.
Season 2 was so bad compared to one I mean it skipped all over the place and instead of the traditional 10 episodes it only gave us 7. Characters jumped around and felt as if there was no arc to any of them. I honestly feel pretty empty after this final episode since it didn’t feel like a proper end to a series I’ve loved. Oh well at least season one was amazing
I can not believe it’s series finale!! There’s so much story that can be told!
Yep! I was looking forward to see the reenactment of the 1985 finals. Also, i wanted to see more of interactions between Magic and Bird. 😢

Im upset how dare you end the series with Boston W. Its a Lakers Show!!!!
HBO you gotta do better! This needs a 3rd season. You can’t call a show “Winning Time” and end on a terrible loss 🤷🏾♀️
Not enough star power. If Jennifer Aniston was on the show, it wouldn't of been cancelled.
What a terrible way for the series to end 😢
Yep, the curse of HBO finishing a series continues, everyone involved deserved better, and us fans too..
come on...we need season 3...we need to watch MJ early years and the Pistons bad boys...
This show being cancelled is a tragedy

It was an amazing run! Congrats and know that you have me a fan out of me, even though I'm not a sports person, that alone speaks for itself.
This was literally one of the worst season finales in HBO history. HBO deserves the blame for that too, not the writers and team making the show.
Really just feel like they needed one more episode
It's very clearly over. Didn't have a ton of people watching it and was an expensive show to produce. Very sad as it was a fantastic show.
Imagine what the media would've said if the Celtics were chased out of L.A. by a mob of Black Lakers fans.
I'm sick rn. Why cancel it😭😭😭😭😭
It's HBOs mission statement. Build them up and walk away
why was it cancelled ratings were insane? Prolly numbers because its the streaming era and didn't have the white girl hype like euphoria.
There's a writers and actors strike

HBO better renew for a third season.
Not with that ending
Unfortunately, it's been announced that the show has been cancelled 😢

Show has been cancelled
So hate that they stopped it😢
Do Detroit Bad Boys
What can be a better basketball story?

So many shows grab you just to let you down. It's their MO at this point
