The Cathedral (Rossiya TV, 2017)

The recently constructed divine Cathedral of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, at the Sretensky Monastery in the centre of Moscow was consecrated by His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia, in February 2017, a few days before the centenary of the tragic Revolution of 1917. It was built near the infamous Lubyanka Street, where many thousands of New Russian Martyrs and Confessors suffered for the Faith under the Soviet rule. The new Cathedral which now dominates the skyline of the historic part of Moscow was constructed in the traditional Russo-Byzantine style using the most advanced modern technology.
This documentary features the main inspirer of the project, who at that time was the Hegumen of the Sretensky Monastery, Archbishop Tikhon Shevkunov together with the architects, designers, engineers, painters, iconographers, mosaic tilers and other mastercraftsmen comprise a 3,000 strong team to make this incredible project a reality.
