“Buff the monolith” they said. “Remove the attack delay, or else it’s garbage” they said. That’s a wrap on the main campaign. Epilogue will come eventually (god knows I have my work cut out for me there), as will nova covert ops. I have 1, maybe 2 fun projects in mind before I continue with nightmare. Nightmare LotV main campaign + prologue will be available within the next ~16 hours at the latest. Something worth noting, Grant picked static (strong but immobile) + carrier (strong but slow) + reaver (strong but slow) as his comp of choice. It’s no wonder getting into position was his biggest struggle. Salvation Nydus worms and stronger Warp Prisms to encourage players to be more active with units. Heroes revive. Karax aura doesn’t buff production Shared pylon power Brood lords, archons, void rays, cloaking motherships, a few hybrid Golden armada has aiur faction sentries, HTs, Phoenixes, Carriers. (They already have dragoons and reavers) Armada air waves are pinged a bit before they spawn Ending cutscene actually reflects what’s going on for once in its life The weird timing that the first wave sometimes has? Couldn’t tell you what causes it. The allies are pretty good at beating the first waves anyway. Lots of QoL things here, the most impactful probably being the hero revive. It takes them a bit to warp in, but aside from that they come back infinitely (any other solution would still encourage boxing alarak). It always felt weird that you don’t fight the actually scary units (archons, brood lords) on this mission, when Amon’s been established to have them. (That said, I felt vipers and infestors were a bit too unfun in practice). I’ll probably end up swapping enemy roaches and aberrations to different units so that ground armies aren’t hit quite as hard.
to be fair the Monolith is still very bad imo, i mean, it helped to held but because there was a lot and an infinite army in front of them all the time, and even so grant barely made it. thank you for the hero revives and the ending cutscene tho, it was very nice to see. if i may ask, is it possible to make a probe rebuild an ally nexus? after Alarak lost his the probe was building pylons only, then again i guess a nexus would take long to build. thank you very much for this great mod
I really like how the final cutscene has been changed from some lame zealots fighting randomly around the keystone to the proper onslaught of the Armada. Really an eye for detail.
49:08 Vorazun: Artanis I must retreat, you have to carry on this fight, Hierarch. For our people. One nerazim probe who is left behind: I'll hold them off
@@filipbudic7694 it does in minor places, but it shouldn't affect his gameplay too much. I just want to see how he will manage to win all in on brutal difficulty.
It was always weird to me that this mission never had any Hybrid. You’d think that one of the few things that could cripple Amon would be high on his to-do-list.
One thing i liked is that in each side there is a different Hybrid so you can prepare for each, fast damage to right, strong damage to center and left, because no one will use feedbacks on those. I love the fact that the heroes respawn, it just makes sense and it makes it so you don't need to lock them for their safety. Also the ending with all the units instead of just 3 zealots per hero was a nice touch.
Very impressive. It was frustrating to see you ignore e.g. the Orbital Strike when you had plenty of energy for the rest of the mission and a limited time to use those Spear of Adun abilities, but I certainly wouldn't have been able to pull this off either way! And that's not an exaggeration, I struggled with regular Hard mode Salvation a week ago. Nice work Grant!
Love that it - showed the actual fight at the end, not just random zealots doing sword-dance w each other AND - finished at the one and true ending AS IT SHOULD
Great playthrough and congrats for beating it so well. I am curious what comes next now that the nightmare trilogy is finished. Zero death Nightmare WoL? kidding but I love your channel and I am curious about every new project. I mean there is also zerospace now lets see what comes next. Wish you all well and keep doing these great things!
Rhyme mentioned in his comment, he has a few "fun projects" first, then the epilogue and Nova. I'm wondering if one of the fun projects is one more Twitch Trolls Grant.
from all missions, this one broke me. Until now I have never watched one of your playthroughs without having beaten the mission per se, I wanted to find if I could come with a solution by my own means. So far I could say that my own solutions were somewhat different than yours (Probably 'cuz I have been playing the final final version) But this mf mission no. After playing it more than a 100 times (No kidding) I was frustrated and devasted. It can only be beaten with this same strat (Carriers + monoliths + batteries). No others allowed. Thx for the playthrough, It was really fun to see.
My comp was two groups of Destroyer Void Rays backed up by 2 repairriers per group. 3 ground groups of Annihilator Cannon Immortals with Shield repair sentries. All supported with Batteries and cannon/monoliths. It was hard getting the snipes with the Immortals, and having the air support in the right places at the right times.
I wonder if that delayed first attack wave was because of the hybrid. They collected for the attack but the Hybrid wasn't in the group, then later he showed up and they moved out. So to me it seems like their trigger to attack is the hybrid joining the group and maybe his spawn or pathing got funky? Not sure, just a thought
For Some reason the old proverb comes to mind. Give a man a cheese and he'll eat for a day, teach a man to cheese and he'll cannon rush for a lifetime.
It would be kinda nice to see this mission, full nightmare mode and all, done in an up to 4 player coop mode. One person controlling each of the commanders. That would be messy and fun
I don't think you should have pulled all the probes, you can still produce some interceptors so keeping like 5-10 working might be worth it. But... good enough is good enough. Alarak is such a bro, even when he give up, he comes back. Vora zum, on the other hand... peaced out so many times. Artanis should reexamine his relationships.
Pure Carriers isn't the best comp tho its essential on your composition cause you need the hybrid anti-air and its repair bot. Its weakness is the dps to kill all the ground forces and the time to build them. Mine was Reaver + Immortal and Sentry on Kerax first and then Vorazun. Transition then to Carriers for Alarak as Grant pointed out, he doesn't build "anti-air🤣 " and thats where most air enemy spawns. After that its supplementing the side bases with static defense, 1 or 2 carriers for repair and some anti-air. If there's open supply after a battle and there are still more enemy I warp in either high templar - archon / sentry if excess gas, or zealots for excess minerals. Your setup should have 3 control groups. If one side is struggling, have the other reinforce. After that its basically knowing which side is gonna be attacked first, and when to use abilities.
I need to say that Spear of Adun seems more powerfull on nightmare than when playing normally It seems more decisive, powerfull, capable of changing the battle, and otherwise is totally unecessary
I didnt really like this campaign, not gonna lie, it felt repetitive. It might be because of the design of the base mission that leaves little to modify. The other 2 nightmare felt a lot better
It's one of the bigger complaints about the base campaign. It's part of the reason I added new stuff like void thrashers on slayn and nyduses on endion
@therealrhyme5319 I don't mean to diminish your work or anything. In HOTS u solved the problem(at least the one I had with the base campaign) of kerigan being the main unit, and u can actually focus on ur army. I hate the top bar in LOTV and personally would like it if all abilities were passives with small bonuses. Although i dont know how u can balance that around missions like the host so it might be better to ignore my comment altogether.

Something as simple as "respawning heroes" does a world of good for Alarak in this mission, no matter the mod.
There's a quotable moment: "I wish there was money on the ground."
I thought it was when Grant suddenly cried out 'What are you doing? Build anti-air!'
And then there is kerrigan in coop or theother campaign... 'oh look money!!'
My goodness that ending was amazing! Alarak shows why he is the Gigachad High Lord of the Tal'darim at 1:15:07, that was amazing!
