WRT the room: I like the demonstrations in that room because I have played guitars in that room. I've bought guitars I have played in that room. It's a room I have some good memories playing in.

I’m very fortunate to own the Gibson Bob Dylan SJ-200 Player’s Edition. Delivers a singularly sensational sound and such beauty to behold in Vintage Sunburst. There’s a long list of the finest accoutrements that adorn the guitar, making it, in my humble opinion, one of the finest instruments made by Gibson. The SJ-200 has a very distinctive sound and coupled with knowing that artists played their SJ-200 in their recordings, seeks to reinforce the exceptional contribution such a fine instrument can make to one’s craft.
It's good to know the Bob Dylan model is up there with the best. Has a lot to live up to. Oh, and congratulations on owning one!
I have a 1968 J200 my pick guard is way different than the new ones, I love that old girl.
So watching this on my iPhone, the Murphy labs guitar has a warmer more rounded tone. The other has a more jangly, bordering on harsh at times, tone. It’s really curios and good demo of just how much a manufacturing process and finish can affect the tone of two broadly similar ( same tone woods) guitars.

Suggestion for another Gibson video: J45 standard vs. the new studio J45 walnut vs the new studio J45 rosewood. All are the same body dimensions this year, I think, so it'd be a cool wood-vs-wood test. Thanks for all of 'em though!
Love the jumbo shape. Bit obsessed with them at the moment. Already have a sunburst J-185 and a red Rancher, but browsing for more. I need more!
The way the cam captures it perched on your knee, it looks like a stand up bass.
Ok I got a Gibson 1976 J-200 artist. What the difference? I like mine but torn between my Gibson 1968 J-50.

I miss the old standards that had the LR Baggs Anthem pickup in it. Had the pickguard that I preferred too
I learned on a j-200 at the age of five in 1959. Just not deep enough sound for my ear. Good sound at the same time. I'm a big fan of Adirondack spruce with mahogany back and sides.
Did the Murphy Lab kicked butt here or is it just me?
The real comparison would be a torrified, thermally aged top versus the Murphy lab version. I doubt there would be any real difference, esp. for the xtra cost. I suspect the standard model would sound very different after a year of playing. No matter which one, they are fun to strum.

I have wanted a J200 ever since hearing Pete Townsend play “Behind Blue Eyes “…. But, moving to super arid Phoenix, I bought a great sounding RainSong Jumbo from Music Villa instead… guess I need a t-shirt that says, “my J200 is a RainSong “.
Sounds better than Martin's Inception Maple guitar that I've been listening to, and reading about in the last few days ; couldn't hear much difference between these two SJ here, within the long strumming bit that Quinton does about at 2/3 of this video...
am i seeing a Circle Strings and a Muiderman in the background there?
The Murphy lab guitar had more going on but both can sound sweeter that what this comparison showed. It's easy to be an arm chair critic so please know I mean no disrespect. I wish I had half of Quintons chops. But rather than just banging out G chords, it would be nice to hear these also played with a more intimate touch. Volume and punch is not the only litmus test.
Normally I can hear a bigger difference with the Murphy Lab. But in one spot in the video I heard a little more volume in the Murphy lab

I’m an avid fan, both Gibson/acousticLetter.
Listening through high end earphones and neither guitar sounds upto much. Both quite “clangy” if that’s a words 😢
The true sound of any guitar is in its presence, that's when the credit card comes out, and these won't hang around long. The room/microphone may not have done these two guitars full justice, but I assure you, J200's sing.
the murphy lab has a richer fuller tone but neither really hit it out of the ball park -could be room or recording set up but both lacked a rich full bass, sounded slightly nasally (if that's a word).
The slowed-down, hard-strum, near the bridge never sounds good, never. It probably feels good to play, but it sounds terrible. Also, why use a 1.5-2.0mm pick for every acoustic demo where strumming is involved, and for a J-200???
Absolutely no difference.
