Ehhh greeks and romans had a top / bottom society. That meants you were a cool man if you were the one giving, and a weak pathetic person if you were the one receiving. For that reason they were very sexist against women, and they were very discriminatory against men who were on the receiving end.
Greece wasn’t an lgbtq haven in any way. It was all about power, and establishing power over other men by fucking them. There’s nothing “fruity” about that: honestly I’d say it’s disturbing the way they treated sex, and using it to establish power over other men
I love how Rick is so open with these topics and always has been.
He shows the struggles (internal homophobia, being disowned, etc) and how the LGBTQ+ community have literally no reason to not be included in a story, especially one with such a wide universe and large world building where they will inevitably be there somewhere.

there are many implied lgbt+ characters that I didn’t mention as I strictly mentioned ones that have confirmed sexualities! Still having the title character being pansexual is a big thing for kids books!

I should note that Alex is also transgender. She identifies as female most of the time and wants to be referred to with female pronouns and terms unless said otherwise, while being heavily implied to be AMAB.
I used he just because where I’m reading rn Alex is using those. I switch based on the last thing I’ve read usually :)

I just read the part where he meets Luke and there wasn't any line where Percy described him as "hot", he only described his appearance and said that Luke's scar made him look pretty cool.

Sigh for people who haven’t read the books, please wait your turn, respectfully. You’ll get there. I promise there are characters to represent every color of the rainbow and it’s one of my favorite things about the universe. But Percy himself isn’t part of it.
No one is saying Percy himself is gay mate… nobody. In the musical he is bisexual and some people have mentioned that. Nobody is saying book Percy is canonically gay. You’re so obsessed it’s funny.

It’s not exactly the same but quite a few of the minor characters in the sun and the star don’t identify within the binary :) it’s nothing explicitly non-binary as in the actual identity but it’s still something!

@@isobelmiller7464 exactly! There's nothing wrong with head cannon and wanting to see yourself in a character, but your head cannon doesn't supercede the creator's original intentions with the story. I'm currently reading the Percy Jackson series again after so many years and I don't remember anything about Percy being Bi, nothing inherently wrong with LGBTQ+ representation but sometimes it feels like people force it into their favorite stories because they can't just be happy with resonating with a character's personality.
Why does it matter?
Positive representation always matters for an under represented community, especially at a time like rn where governments are making it harder and harder for lgbtqia+ people to be themselves.

Read the books. Riordan 1,000% has gay charecters, but Percy isn’t one. At one point he had 3 love interests and the man one was insanely jealous and he had no idea why cause man was clueless and only saw her 😂😂😂😂 he just loves Annabeth
