  • There's no question Harry has lost the respect of MILLIONS around the globe. Today's video breaks down the Top 5 Differences between Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry and the impact they have. The contrasts between these two are big, and range from appearance, etiquette and behavior. A lot of these little things make a big difference in how others see you and react to you. This is true for both men and women, but of course there are differences in what comes across best.
Since Harold's downfall, the public backlash has only grown, and that is in large part to the mistakes covered in this video, but of course this is only a few of dozens. If you like today's video and would like to see more on the opposing cues the brothers are sending out via presentation, etiquette and more, then be sure to let me know by clicking the like button, and in the comments.
Please, don't read too much into this video, it's a fun one that's been requested. ;) Also, you'll notice I'm playing with fire by having the tendrils, don't miss my upcoming video critiquing my own looks, including this one! But as a bonus preview for those of you who take the time to read the description boxes (thankyou, you're the best), the fringe (aka tendrils) serve to draw your eye down to this gorgeous shirt, but are kept minimal and on the outer side of my eyes/eyebrows so as to not distract or obscure our connection. But, there's more to come in that video!

Prince William comes across, even in photo, as humble and grateful for his place in life. He also acts warm and confident in his place, as a future King, a father, and as a public figure. Being in charge of a multi million pound fortune, seems to sit on his shoulders quite easily and I feel that is due to King Charles, and HLMQ Elizabeth making sure his training equipped him for his role, as a duke, Prince of Wales, and Future King. His character has been nutured carefully, by his mentors and by himself.

I remember when both William and Harry were young boys, before their mother’s tragic death. Even when Harry was a toddler, I felt that he had ADHD. You can find plenty of pictures of Diana looking frustrated with Harry’s behavior, but now as an adult, he still shows signs of ADHD- impulsivity, unable to accept consequences for his behavior, and we’ve all seen pictures of him completely lost in his own thoughts while at different events.
Harry needs not only family in his corner, but a system like the firm, or the military to keep him functioning and on track. I always felt like William was the one person that could keep Harry grounded. It’s a shame Harry can’t see that.

Diana was always aware of where the camera was and played up to them in that immature flirty way she had .Not all of us in the UK were taken in by it at the time. Charles is a natural out amongst the public , as is Ann who did far more charity work than Diana. I always used to think how frustrating it must have been for Ann that such a fuss was made of Di , just because of her looks, but she probably saw it all as a ridiculous circus.😅 The whole point of a Royal visit is to make it about the charity and people they are visiting . William also has the family sense of duty and thankfully their humour which must help in the mad goldfish bowl they live in.

Not that Diana could ever be replaced, but Carole came along at a time when he needed a loving mother most, and even though Camilla is his step-mother and could've filled that role as well, I don't think they ever had that kind of relationship.

@@hollybrooke322and your words and stance is mature and totally relatable (it was same for me)…but the OP was referencing how Diana said William was her rock - not “her children” or “her boys”…she truly put William in a “man of the house! My protector” position at a very young age - he tells of how he’d sit outside her bathroom listening to her sobbing on the floor and he’d pass her tissues under the crack of the door - this was after the sep/divorce when he and Harry would go stay with her and SHE was supposed to be the adult taking care of, nurturing, and reassuring her children, not vice-versa….he says he’s sit with his back to the wall beside the bathroom door and listen to her sob like her heart was breaking, and that Harry would be there playing in another room or asking for something so William would be the one to check on him and get what he needed, etc while Diana laid in the bathroom floor, balling her heart out - William says he’d try to distract Harry and keep him away from the bathroom so he wouldn’t have to hear it too! Diana also would tell William everything - like he was her BFF or brother - and he was much too young to really process all of that - but by some miracle he found an inner strength - he was forced to grow up entirely too fast - and he found ways to be all things needed by his mum (helping w h during visits, a confidant, a shoulder to cry on, a friend, an advisor - and he was 12/13 years old!) and he found a way to try to be a what H needed (a type of almost father figure/mentor, he twisted himself in knots to be an example and an authoritarian figure bc that was often all H had for several years). Your saying your children were your rock is not the same way Diana meant William was her rock…she meant it more as being her knight in shining armor, her protector, and almost a partner. That’s just how it was wether we judge that now as out of line or not, I personally think it was too much to put on William at that age and cut his childhood short and that he sacrificed a lot to be all this things that his mum and H needed then. It’s truly inspiring that he turned out so well - but Catherine and her family helped immediately - Catherine’s dad was a great role model for William to see how to be a girl dad and then Charles was a truly loving father (but was distracted often by his infatuation w Camilla) and then I think William also made sure to take the opportunities provided to him - like accepting every invitation his Grandmother and Grandfather gave him to come have tea every Sunday…it ended up a ritual he never missed and turned into basically how to be a Royal and a man, father, husband, etc lessons for him: Harry notes that although William always went, he had other things to do than have lessons on etiquette and rules that he’d “never need” as the spare! It’s truly appalling!

@@SMRT79there's a name for that: parentification.
Parentification occurs when parents look to their children for emotional and/or practical support, rather than providing it. Hence, the child becomes the caregiver. As a result, parentified children are forced to assume adult responsibilities and behaviors before they are ready to do so.
William clearly had a whole different set of issues than his brother. I think Harry's mother may have tried to overcompensate for him being the spare. Who knows but he seems like he's always been troubled.

They pause, listen, ask questions and work hard at understanding the other person. H&M don’t “walk their talk” as Native Americans say. William has the best qualities from both parents. His mother's humility and empathy and his father's sense of responsibility and work ethic. Harry unfortunately has some of his mother's worst qualities (she wasn't perfect). He has her paranoid tendencies as well as her temper and sometimes willfulness. It doesn't help that he is obviously a spoilt brat. His mother coddled him and his dad felt so bad for him after Diana's death, that unfortunately, he indulged him far more than he did William. I remember he took Harry alone on that first tour he had to South Africa where he was showered with attention. I think, because William is so controlled and to an extent introverted, Charles just assumed that he's OK and that Harry needed him more. The fact is there is only a two year difference and he was hit equally as hard as Harry by Diana's death. Harry doesn't have the monopoly on sorrow. What probably happened is Harry was protected by his Brother as well and by his grandparents. So the result is what we now see. He plays victim to get sympathy and attention like he always did. We now see the real Harry without the protection of all these important people in his life. He probably feels quite anchorless now, which is why he constantly needs Meghan's approval and 'guidance' and she uses that weakness to her own advantage. I don't think Harry will ever grow up and accept responsibility. He's always going to seek bolstering and approval and when he doesn't get it, he's going to feel sorry for himself. He will never come to the point where he is self aware and knows that his own actions have consequences. Poor kids that only have him, their mother and grandmother as role models. It could have been very different. 🇿🇦

Prince William holding his hand by his side, fingers curled with thumb pointing down (along the trouser seam) is a military officer thing. The difference between William exhibiting this behavior and Harry not doing it may be another illustration that Harry didn't really get "into" being in the military while William was all in.

William POW has a lovely blend of immense strength and vulnerability in his face, he carries himself with aplomb and dresses impeccably.
He has a commanding stature and build.
    He’s most definitely an empath.
He will be a marvellous king when the time comes, I hope I am alive to see him crowned.
As for Harry, I used to love him, he was the cheeky fun prince, but his ridiculous sense of entitlement and his constant whining from someone with immense privilege has been a real turn off.
His attitude and presentation need work, but if he hasn’t learnt how to present and conduct himself with dignity by now, I guess he never will.
Pity he didn’t choose a more appropriate wife, a wife that would of supported him in his role as William POW’s, right hand man, as it should have been, a wife that would have brought forward his best traits rather than his worst.
He looked much tidier and well presented before Meghan came along, now he’s a shabby, emasculated mess.
Marry in haste, repent in leisure as they say.

Hands down, Prince William and Princess Catherine are the sweetest couple and most loving couple I’ve ever seen. They are what every couple should strive to be like. They have, poise, grace, genuine love, kindness, friendship, humility and strength. But when it comes to, “another couple” we know, they don’t have any of those qualities. There’s no comparison. Prince William is the Alpha Male. Forget about the titles and if he’s the older brother. He’s the one who has his head on his shoulders. Harry’s head is high up in the clouds or wondering off trying to figure out who to blame for his mistakes.

I think you should add that a definite positive in William is his ability to choose a great partner for life. He was wise to wait so long to finally marry, as it gave them both lots of time to really get to know and appreciate each other. It also gave Catherine time to adjust to her role.
Harry seems to have been determined to get married, NOW, so he chose someone who he immediately liked and who gave him lots of positive vibes. Megan did not have any time to accept her position as a royal. I doubt she could have kept up her act for too long and her real personality would have come through.
Also, William accepts wise counsel, whereas Harry does not!

Both Harry and Meg need to attachments themselves to wise and understanding persone. They surround themselves with "yes men" that massage their fragile egos. That type is not the type they need. They need people that will challenge them for positive growth. Those that ill enrich them. Those that will call them on their B.S. and correct their ways. Those that will explain how the public perceive them and guide them to positive choices and self talk.
Prince William and Princess Royal Anne are the only two in the Royal Family that could fit that order. Both are grounded, realistic, and handle stress appropriately. They are also kind and caring and genuinely love Prince Harry (they were not given enough time to let Meghan reveal her true self so that cannot be said of her.) It is too bad that neither Harry nor Meghan could escape their egos long enough to see the pairs generous offer to help them. And they did offer. Oh what it could have been and now torn all apart.

I'm a few years older than the princes. Watched them grow up. My mom and I would discuss the behaviors of both of them, but especially after the death of princess Diana. Mom never had anything negative to say about William, but cringed over several of Harry's scandals. The wedding was a very animated discussion between us, the dresses. I loved Catherine's and stayed up to watch that wedding. I shrugged over the harkles, but that dress was very blah.I have heard what Catherine's cost, and her parents paid for it. The meg's was just awful, and I think the queen paid for it. Charles gave Catherine 56-57k pounds for a new wardrobe and she spent it wisely, from everyday to a few glam gowns, and shoes. I never saw anything like that for the Meg. But it would have maybe covered 5 outfits, maybe.

@glynisj.7170 I hated that dress. It was so, just so wrong. I really like Catherine's style. I don't love everything that she wears, but I give her credit for wearing it well. She's had very few oops. Whereas the Meg can't find even a pair of jeans that look good.
Personally, I live for comfort. I wear almost nothing but pj's. I'm physically disabled and I have a lot of difficulty with zippers, buttons, snaps, and assorted stuff. Hell, there are days that I can barely brush my hair, and I own that. But I'm also a housewife, totally not famous. And I don't care. I think that if the Meg were in a house fire, she'd be primping in a slinky bit of ridiculously priced lingerie and trying to look sexy for the first responders. I think that Harry would be more concerned about the children than she would be.

Charles paid for Meghan's wedding dress. And also, she demanded and got more dress allowance from him which was more than any other European Royal women spent on their clothing. Remember, Harry even lied to defend his wife's spending. He said that his wife stitched her own clothes, ate less and was in general, did not demand an expensive upkeep... which we all know was a lie! At one point, frustrated Charles even seem to have told Harry that it was OK for his wife to work and take care of her own expenses.

I don't doubt that 'alpha' body language and behaviour comes more naturally to William; Harry seems to have more difficulty with impulse control.
I am sure Harry complained to Meghan that having to adopt more polished, formal behaviour felt restrictive and false to him. And I am equally sure Meghan's 'California mindset' of organic authenticity and being yourself was a breath of fresh air to Harry.
That being said, the Royals (and other highly professional people in the public eye) do not exhibit formal, controlled, tailored, appropriate, confident appearances for nothing. It may seem like a straitjacket but it actually provides a clean dividing line between the public and private self.
William's private self is truly private, and there is an allure that comes with that. Royals know they aren't going to be famous for ten or even twenty years, but for their whole life. Mystery, charisma and self respect are tools to maintain public interest.
Harry continually makes his private self public, and what once seemed relatable is now becoming old, boring and predictable.

Prince William allowed himself to be taught "normal life" by Princess Catherine's family. He has often stated outright he appreciated this. Perhaps he talked about his experiences with his late grandmother, and she decided (and I'm just guessing here) that it would inject a sense of being more relatable in the eyes of the audience.
However, I think Harry decided not to accept this change and then wanted Meghan's version of "normal life" which, because of what I've heard about her family situation may already have been warped in a way, and this was not gelling with the changes that Prince William (with his grandmother's and father's blessing perhaps) was bringing to the royal family.
I had noticed a change happening in some of the royal family (the ones born as a royal) once the relationship between Prince William and Catherine was going to keep going, especially after they got engaged, and maybe because Prince William is the next King he has been getting a little more say in an opinion of how to do stuff. I noticed how much more of a "meet and greet" King Charles had become also in recent years, especially since his ascension.
I'm certain there were conversations in the family, aligning the family closer to how King Charles wants things first, and then what Prince William wants secondly, and maybe even indirectly listening a bit to Prince George and all others of his generation indirectly via his (and their) parents. I think the idea of protecting the children still persists from when Prince William was born, but the presence of Princess Charlotte during the greeting of the tennis players makes it clear to me their opinion is also included and seems also to matter to the older royals.
If I'm right with this (and I would never say I am) then Harry doesn't know any of this information and it makes his situation even more tragic, because if he'd pushed back against Meghan and had appeased his family better or more he would be aware of these changes that "the audience" (the British subjects and interested people outside Britain) would notice whereas he put himself, Meghan and their kids in a "la-la-la-la" cocoon and therefore is acting perhaps on outdated information or ideas. This latter I say as someone who decided to distance herself from problematic close family when I noticed that after a short separation my family still thought of me in a way that was incorrect as I had changed.
I think that's how Harry views his family right now. Let's give it a silly example. Say that Harry assumes that everyone in his family likes apples, but since the "change suggested by Prince William" they've decided that oranges are nicer to eat. Harry still looks at them as people eating apples. WE (the audience) might notice that they eat oranges now. WE (the audience) might communicate in comments etc "Prince Harry, look at them. They eat oranges, not apples." When Harry's response is "They can only ever eat apples." That's what I mean about Harry not wanting to accept that his family CAN CHANGE. If there was a change we should credit the exposure to "normal life" that Prince William got when he would regularly visit Catherine's family.
P.S. Not sure if I made sense here but that's the best way I can explain how I see the stuff going on.

    @kate2create738 10 місяців тому +16

Going to add one more point that cements the stark differences between William and Harry, what should be the defining key characteristic to an “Alpha” male is having the right priorities. William has demonstrated his priorities is to serve the monarch, think about the future as king, be the guide for his children when their role comes, and has successfully prepared his wife for the role they are taking on that previously didn’t go well for a few of Princes of Wales. On top of that, Catherine wasn’t born into a noble or aristocratic background that would have helped her, yet here she finally adored by the world, and I think William should get the credit because he did what he could to help Catherine to succeed. The rest is what her natural spirit was able to commend, William really helped her by given her that foundation that she could build on.
Whereas Harry’s priorities are not concerns that has substance, honestly it did seem like he was developing it by the time he met the Mrs, he was championing ways to help the British veterans. However, when meeting the Mrs, it became about “Me Me.” Harry doomed himself the moment he uttered the words, “What Meghan wants, Meghan gets,” especially when dealing with someone who is not never known what it is to be satisfied by the simple things in life.
The latest Invictus Games is a huge contrast to William’s trip to NYC, the Invictus Games got hijacked once again by the Harkles while William was seen as a unifier in the US, actually contributing ways to learn and listen to those on the field of how they are solving problems. While William’s jog could have been interpreted as a jab to Harry, I think he was more focused on trying to make it up to New Yorkers that their home is more pleasant than the Harkles made it out to be to fit their agenda of making the UK and the US pay for extra security.

One difference between the princes is that Harry struts. He loves his security because their presence brings he and Meghan attention they wouldn’t have on their own.
    It is so cringe.
Harry struts like a tough guy with his bodyguards surrounding him.

Just regarding looks: When they were younger, the difference in looks was so striking. William was gorgeous in his childhood and teens. Harry was dorky, with very ruddy cheeks, below average looks, and low intelligence. The envy Harry felt must have been overwhelming.
Harry has a wispy high pitched voice. William has a deep, manly voice. William is a blond, Harry a ginger. That is just part of only the superficial stuff.

I find William more attractive now as he matures and the fact that he accepts his baldness makes me like him even more. I hope he and Catherine age with grace.

You have it spot on, Beebs. William and Catherine will always command absolute respect from everyone simply by being who they are. They know how to behave, how to dress appropriately, and how to put people at ease. They come across as caring, kind and warm people who are genuinely interested in the people they meet and who have created a contented and happy family life. Those other two vile specimens on the other hand ...

Your assessment is spot on. That TIME cover was just wrong. H looked like some creepy hairdresser hunching behind his wife. He always comes across as a beta male, and not just because his wife pushes her way ahead of him, but for all the reasons you covered so well here. In contrast, even though Prince Phillip always followed protocol and deferred to the Queen in public, he was always obviously an alpha male. Similarly, Catherine and Camilla both follow protocol, yet never come across as being "less" than their husbands. Harry gets that whole issue so very wrong.

Great analysis Beebs. Prince William was, and is, not always uber confident. Especially as a young man , but as you said, he wanted to learn, grow into his role and be the best Prince of Wales, husband, father, family member and just the best man he can be. He does have his little nervous ‘tics’ like we all do but he’s clearly worked on his. King Charles famously twists his signet ring around when he’s unsure, I used to twist my wedding ring.

Prince William is his mother's son. He's using everything positive that his mother taught him along with everything he's learned from the Middleton family. Plus, it's so obvious that he absorbed everything that his grandmother was teaching, whether it was an actual "lesson" from the late Queen Elizabeth II or simply observation. William is comfortable in his own skin. Plus, he has a true partnership with his wife, Princess Catherine. The way they look at each other is either sizzling, smoldering, or flirty, they don't need to be locked together by a claw-like handhold. He's also got a great sense of humor and sometimes, I feel like Princess Catherine does have 4 children and I mean it most favorably. When he sees something amusing, that's when you can truly see his mother shine through him. He has the same mischievous and impish look that his mother had. And, it usually happens when he's trying to be serious.
Prince Harry is also very much his mother's son although he looks exactly like his father. Sadly, he seems to have adopted all that was wrong with his mother. Diana did suffer from mental health problems and she wouldn't have been human if she didn't. However, back in those days, counseling or therapy did carry a huge stigma with it, so treatment was never an option for Princess Diana. However, he's different, the times have changed and he can afford to hire the best without any stigma attaching itself to him. Instead, he appears to be sinking deeper and deeper into dangerous ways of helping him cope with the additional stress of his marriage. He's stuck on the worst day of his life and has chosen to remain there. He's never going to be King, he's behind a 4 or 5 year old child, Prince Louis in the line of succession. And, he's not with a partner. He's with someone who wants the fame and the notoriety of being royal without ever having to do the work. She's a succubus, but Harry's a willing victim.
William acts the age he is NOW. Harry's choosing to stay the 12 year old child forced to walk behind his mother's coffin. Even before Meghan came along, he struggled with becoming an adult, remember strip billiards?
    Beebs, I'd love a part 2.
    R
