      When you talked about Belgium, you mention 3 regions and that it was near to being split into 3 countries ... BUT besides the 3 regions, the country is also divided by the 3 official languages, which is slightly different from how it's divided by the regions. Why do you think that the German-speaking part would then stay as a part of Wallonia (the French-speaking part) in case of a breakup and be again the minority under a "foreign" rule?

      @@onewxrldmusic7303 not really and by the looks of it the disputes are lessening but the main point is; south Sudan is part of EAC ( East African Community) if you haven't heard, EAC is planning to join up to form 1 country known as East African Federation which comprises of Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and of course South Sudan but recently DRC requested to join and it is now on the 8th stage out of 10 to be accepeted in EAC. In real sense if DRC succeeds EAF would be the largest country in the world and a really high chance of becoming a major super power in the near future because of tonnes of reasons that I can't even start listing them down. If you want to know the seriousness of EAC; they plan to establish a common currency by the end of this year and they have already started to draw up a draft constitution. • @godstenrules
      @godstenrules 2 роки тому

      @MI6 What choice do we have when we only have ONE PARTY to vote for in California? Sure there are still effectively "two choices" but there's no difference between the two of them, cause there from the same party.
      Look up the top-twos system we have here in California
      The top-two system means that the top-two vote-getters move to the general election (even if they are from the same party, which mostly benefits democrats). That's not how elections are supposed to work. Elections are supposed to give you choices of the different parties.
      Each party nominates their choice for the office, and then you get to vote for the party you want.
      But not here in California, the top-two system robs us of that option. Because the top-two system favors the democratic party.
      It's a one-party ruled state with so-called "elections" that are just a charade..

    • @godstenrules
      @godstenrules 2 роки тому

      @MI6 Socialism means a one-,party ruled state where the citizens have no say in who their leaders are.
      That's what explained to you we California have no say in our elections
      Notice how I say nothing about the Republicans, so why even bring them?
      Our state is turning into Venezuela which a socialist state controlled by one-party, where they have what you call "elections" which I call a charade.
      The leaders in California also made it LEGAL to engage in voter fraud to benefit them (which mostly benefits the democrats)
      The fact you're ignorant of what is actually happening in California is worrisome.
      The fact that you don't even know the definition of socialism is even more worrisome. that is what California is it's a socialist state.

    Unity has separate meanings: 1 Federal de jure documentation which declares, defines hierarchy of regional allegiance; 2 Consensus, de facto similarity of residents, with featured attractions being mutual language, race, tradition, lifestyle (culture), likeness all around. De jure arrangements are much easier to topple than de facto ones, think about it.

    Now let me ask you. Why da flip was Alaska part of South USA in the thumbnail?

  • @larsyvindgrindrud8341
    @larsyvindgrindrud8341 2 роки тому +1

    In my opionion it should be the right of the peple of any municipality or province to decide to which country they should belong to or if being independent. There are de facto countries that are generally not recognized existing today such as Northern Cyprus, Artsakh and Somaliland. In addition we have the Russian backed republics of Abkhasia, South Ossetia and Transnistria. In addition we have the territories involved in the ongoing war in the Ukraine,i.e. Crimea, Donetsk ans Luhansk. To my knowledge there are two countries only that the right of secession is written in the constitution and they are both micro states. They are Liecthenstein and St Kitts Nevis. In Liechtenstein a municipality can chose to move to another country any time. In the Nordics we have three semi-independent territories that could be independent some day. The most likely candidate for independence is Greenland and also the Faroe Islands that are both part of Denmark. Åland is a special case as the inhabitants preferred to be a part of Sweden, but Finland refused. As a compromise it is now a Swedish speaking territory belonging to Finland.

    Firstly, very interesting and thought provoking video 👍🏼 Secondly, what about the islands of Bali & Sulawesi separating from Indonesia - although a very unlikely scenario. Both are under Indonesian rule, yet they have unrecognized separatist flags, and capable of self sufficiency.
    Thirdly, the economic crisis in Sri Lanka has seen India come to its aid until very recently. An unlikely, admittedly sad scenario, could be a reluctant assimilation of Sri Lanka into the Indian rule… although their often ‘heated’ pasts could prove this impossible.

  • @peter_hhm
    @peter_hhm 2 роки тому +4

    The part about Taiwan is not accurate. Firstly, a country or region recognizes Taiwan's travel documents, does not mean it recognizes Taiwan as an independent or sovereign country. For example, Hong Kong and Macau are both special administrative regions (SAR) of China, but also have their own passports that are recognized by everyone. Meanwhile, the foreign diplomatic policies of Mainland China (PRC) and Taiwan (ROC) are mutual-exclusive; in other words, any country can only establish diplomatic relationship and recognize one of them at a time. Today, only 16 UN menber states recognize Taiwan (ROC) as an independent country.
    Secondly, even though half of Taiwan's population (mostly young people) supports independence, it is stated in their constitution that both Mainland and Taiwan belong to the Republic of China (ROC), which also explains their diplomatic policy mentioned previously, since they also claim to be the only legitimate government of China. In 1992, the leaders of both PRC and ROC held a meeting in Singapore, and reached the "1992 Consensus", which stated that both sides belong to the same China, but currently ruled under separate governments. Basically, the reason why we are hearing so much voice on pro-independence from Taiwan is that the current rulling party in Taiwan is the pro-independence Democratic Progressice Party (aka. "The Green Party") instead of the pro-unification Nationalist Party (aka. Kuomintang).

      well there should be a way to amend the constitution and become an independent country if most people think they are taiwanese. Taiwan is a democracy after all

    • @peter_hhm
      @peter_hhm 11 місяців тому +1

      @@RandomVideos-re9ux It’s a lot more complicated. First, there isn’t a majority support for either re-unification or fully independence; the majority of the Taiwanese population actually prefer the status quo (the middle ground). Also, if Taiwan really amends its constitution and formally declares independence, then it breaches the Anti-Succession Law of PRC, then mainland China will try to take over Taiwan by force at any costs (and it doesn’t matter if there is foreign interference). This is also the most important reason why most Taiwanese don’t want any radical change to their constitution (even the pro-independence parties), since the military capabilities of the two are overly unbalanced. Also, many survey results show that of those Taiwanese who support independence, an overwhelming majority of them do not want to be personally involved in a military conflict with mainland China, which further diminishes the support for constitutional amendment.
      Basically, everyone knows that there is almost no chance for Taiwan to become a fully independent country (including the US), no matter via armed conflicts, diplomatic actions, or legal reforms. This is also why the US has been trying to acquire the Taiwanese tech companies or move them to the US, so even if the mainland does take over, they wouldn’t obtain much gain in much needed technologies (e.g microprocessor manufacturing), which demotivates armed conflict in the short term. In addition, the presence of US forces in areas around Taiwan is to boost the confidence of the pro-independence Taiwanese and encourage their resistance against China; but on the other hand, those US forces would pull out as soon as there is any real risk of direct confrontation with the Chinese forces (this has happened many times).
      Meanwhile, the PRC also promises giving Taiwan a special status similar to Hong Kong and Macau (the “One Country, Two Systems” policy), which allows them to set their own local laws and host their own elections etc. This has also led many Taiwanese to consider this as a more pragmatic alternative.

The Republic of China is what the regime is called by themselves. As I have said, I am not against their independence intention if that's what the majority of the population want. But before they officially declare it, it's not. Or you just missed Crimea in your list.
