In this Slay the Spire gameplay, Baalorlord does an Ascension 20 run with Ironclad. First, he gives tips on choosing a path and a starting bonus. Later on, he explains his decision for each card he chooses and why it's important to the build. Towards the end, he gears up for an epic Heart fight you don't want to miss. I use a few mods for Slay the Spire. All of them are Quality-of-Life improvements and do not have any effect on the gameplay. Here are all of the mods I have active:
Slay the Relics Exporter, used for the live stream: steamcommunity...
Relic Stats, to keep track of how many times the relic effects happened: steamcommunity...
UI Sliders, to reposition the Discard and Exhaust piles, so that they are not hidden behind the camera: steamcommunity...
Run History Plus, giving us more info in the Run Summary screen about the run: steamcommunity...
Map Marks, for path highlighting - here, typically, Green means an easy, intended path, and Orange or Red means a harder path that I might take if I get good rewards: github.com/cas...
Even though I do not use it, I recommend Minty Spire for people looking for various Quality-of-Life improvements: steamcommunity...
Got my 58 year old father to start playing STS. He has been addicted to your videos recently, using them to learn and get better! Huge thanks for the great daily uploads my friend, keep it up.
It's 3 am and I got called out by the falling asleep to the vods part, It's very relaxing and I can pretend I'm learning sts strategies while I fall asleep lmao
I often use those to fall asleep too. And baalor is right to take it as a compliment. It means the vibe is relaxing. I came here wondering if others would also call it out. :)
"Runic dome let's us focus on what's important here: Us." 😂
That pen nib reaper was disgustingly good.
It's broken lol

This, in microcosm, is why Slay the Spire is such an interesting, addictive game,
I love that even at the first encounter, with nearly minimal complexity (obviously Reaper and Doubt in the draw pile being added complexity from base hand), someone as insanely skilled and experienced as Baalor can not know if the line taken is the best one.
Being good at games is often rewarding, but the fact that StS really tests your ability to be consistently good at decision-making -both drafting and piloting- rather than being able to press buttons at the right time, is what keeps it feeling so unique in the roguelike/lite space!
Of all the games I think would be interesting to see an AI learn, I feel like it would be fascinating to see what a computer deems as optimal StS play, it would be so insightful and a helpful resource if fully online. Compared to Chess engines, an StS computer can't calculate much further ahead than a person, because not everything is deterministic, so it'd probably be more applicable than a rook sacrifice that gives you +1 like 17 moves ahead.
Wow...I've played so much of this game but I never knew that Strange Spoon only has a chance of not exhausting cards that exhaust themselves when played, not cards that are exhausted by other cards.
Had always been curious about that myself. Good to know now
definitely much newer to your channel and content but dang if it isnt just so enjoyable seeing how you approach each run and consistently give useful information.
I'll watch the videos fall asleep, remember pretty much where I fell asleep, restart there and fall back asleep. Sometimes takes me 4+ watchings to actually finish the video. :)
Disrespectful amount of strength on the Awakened One fight, loved the dual wield + rupture + brutality combo.
At this point it seems almost as if the damn Champion's Belt is rarer than the damn circlet, lol.
Reaper paid off in a big way early on. Extremely satisfying to watch.
That heart fight was scary for a moment lmao
damn that was a clutch spoon at the end
"NOmamori" slayed me.
You didn’t have to do slimebro like that 😂😂😂😂
53:16 strongest reaper I have seen holy
I’m straight
I'm not but good for you🎉
The “status stuff” build for iron clad is a bit difficult to get going properly but hilariously effective.
Damn!.. 800 strength!!!
* Stronks Meme *
Love seeing good players pick Runic Dome. I never ever pick it, I'm just too scared.
Ironclad has rapidly risen to be my second favorite class, closely behind the Silent as my personal favorite.
I feel the same way 😊
@@julidamegamaster93 the Defect used to be my second favorite (don't get me wrong I still like him.) But Ironclad's barricade armor rank + body slam huge chunk damage, or his mass generated self-inflict statuses with exhaust synergies are just tons of fun.
In general the Watcher is the only class I'm fairly indifferent about. It's not bad or anything, I just find most of her archetypes dull. I did get a run that felt very Ironclad-esque with several copies of 'Like Water' and the Calipers relic. Basically sat permanently in Calm stance to rack up huge amounts of block while using stuff like Deva form with a bunch of draw as my damage scaling. I've had a handful of out of the ordinary runs on Watcher like that, that were tons of fun. But that build is far from being one of her consistent standard archetypes.
@@ChaosLord5129 who hurt you?
@@ChaosLord5129 So I guess when someone comes 1st in a competition, it wouldn't be a big deal if he got 3rd since it's like what, a 2 position difference.
@@ChaosLord5129 You didn't prove anything. I didn't "why does it matter if you go in the top three" for that exact reason cause then you would just say that there are multiple competitors. Which is why I gave an example the positions only in the top 3. If you end up in the top three, by your example it doesn't matter as long as you are in the top three. Now for the overall reason why your original point makes no sense, climbing up 2 spaces from a selection of 4 HAS a meaning, and each individuals reason for that is enough. What do you mean by "is that a lot to you", can you not compare just 4 selections in your life? There is literally a thing people make which is a top 5 list, and before you say its top 5 out of 1000, the hardest part of the top 5 lists is which goes 1st, then 2cnd etc. And even if you wanna talk numbers, by percentage, number 2 out of 4 is a 50% increase. Again, you didn't prove nothing, especially in a matter of opinion like this one, go outside and have some fun for once in your life.
59:31 meat on the bone most valuable moment? 😂
Broken crown is my favorite energy relic but he almost never takes
It can be situationally great and I take it more than he does, but it's so limiting when card rewards are very important.
Its also bad for the mastery.
Usually its better in the second boss too, as you are looking to skip cards already.
I think map marks is on the steam workshop now. Or i got a stolen version. If so, sorry about that original creator, but i love your tool!
Wowza
Thats cool and all, but when the most amazing ironclad is coming for this channel, the one where you had actual Yawgmoths Bargain in your deck?
Blue candle + Cube thing + Necronomicurse?
@@VGDeepLore thats the basic engine, but it got everything right too. Also, whats better than having a necro(potence]curse in the deck?
More Ironclad content… 🤤
Wheres the run where you master ascenders bane?
If you transform a curse would omamori block the new curse from being added to the deck?
Interesting. I think it should.
Yes it does, it's basically a curse remove
800 str is nutty
map marks is on the steam workshop btw i dont know why he keeps saying it isnt.
I leave this comment as an offering for the algorithm
What about a Useless Relics challenge where you have to take every relic and complete the heart without making use of it? Fully upgrade your deck before getting whetstone, never end up with more than 15 block with calipers, etc
@Baalorlord I recently bought the game for Android and I am a hardstuck Defect A10. Can you please point this sts pleb to any guide
Honestly just watching defect videos here can help a bunch. I (and most of the sts community) find defect to be the hardest at high ascension though so don’t beat yourself up too much.
From what I've observed, first act you need to sometimes sacrifice good late game cards for damage cards, something like Sunder I would have previously never picked up now it's a good consideration as an early pick
