I actually thought the Red Guy in the real world scene was supposed to take place before the 1st episode. As if he was at a desk job dreaming up his own kids show idea to get out of the mundane routine. Then the older yellow guy discovers him at that bar, and I assume that's when they first meet and get together to make the show a reality. The tragedy being that Red Guy finally gets his big break, but later realizes that the show he dreamed of creating just ends up being as controlling and mundane as his old desk job, being told what he's allowed to do, having his ideas manipulated so that he's not in full creative control of the show he's on. Then I think when the mic turns into a puppet and he's behind the scenes, that's a time shift back to present time when he's already quit the show, and is trying to help the child actor who is still trapped in his contract or whatever. He sees that the show is causing this kid distress instead of being glamorous and fun, so him unplugging the machine might symbolize that he was successful in taking his creative property back from the network and evil producer Roy, and being able to do it his own way, with full creative control, or letting the actors be happy with their roles. Starting from scratch with the first episode, but now without the manipulation of the sponsors and the network. Hopefully Red Guy (Blue Guy) won't turn into a controlling asshole and end up corrupt now that he's in charge... but I feel like the series ends on a positive and hopeful note.
I think so too, when the clock guy shows up it seems that he might ask the director or someone behind the camera, who is this guy? Also in the computer episode they where confused when he showed up. Like he was thinking, this wasn't the plan, why are you changing the story. That might be why the computer gets so angry when he tries to stop him.
Just finished this video. That was an amazing theory that was very well explained and had evidence to back it up. Amazing work as always keep up the work! Also I watched it at 2x speed so I finished it faster lol.

50:55 There is implication that all episodes happened in one day. Not only do they all have Jun 19, but the first episode occurs at breakfast, the second around noon, the third at a picnic lunch, the fourth at home during an afternoon game, the fifth at dinnertime in the kitchen, and the sixth at nighttime, and then it changes to Jun 20th the next morning at breakfast.
Oh well. I didn't need those 77 minutes anyway.

I always thought the food in episode 5 was a metaphor for opinions. You know, like plain white sauce is the sort of brainwashy, simplistic media opinion, but you can't even eat too much, because then you'll see through it. And then the food that clogs up the body with unnecessary detail are other, perhaps more educated opinions. And the steak doesn't want us to have them.

Everything you said about religion and brainwashing has been on my mind this past week. It's so true and I talked to other people about it and they don't agree so I'm glad at least we have the same opinion
Well "religion" is a very broad and vague term. You can be spiritual or religious without being a brainwashed cult member.
I disagree that the video is specifically about Christianity. I'm a life long Christian and never once have I heard Jesus described as "the king of love". You notice how the cult is based around "love". And that's the case with a lot of cults, the members want a feeling of acceptance or "love" they don't receive in their daily lives. People experienceing loneliness or desperate times or people going through loss are perfect targets for these cults.
There are religious leaders that use or deceive their followers but that's the minority.
Most people say they're religious because they were raised that way. You ever notice how many people say they're a certain religion but they don't practice any of it's beliefs or even really know about it?
The religious extremists who try to have the rest of the world comform to their beliefs are just that, extremists.
I just want to say that this video was so well put together, technique (hella sweet lighting) and your message and interpretation of this amazing series. I don't even want to think about how long this took to put together, but y'all did an incredible job, really. Thank you for bringing brains back to the internet.

Doesn't the seat that the bird sits on in episode two when he's hooked to that new gadget look like a coffin?
The distaste for green from the first episode might be referencing that the son of the creator of LEGO ( the most creative toy) had to argue with his father for 8 years before green pieces were added to LEGO sets.
To me, that part about the needle on the ruler in DHMIS II signifies or resembles medical affiliations, such as doctor appointments, and in my mind that says that to get the help you need you have to schedule an appointment, at a certain time, on a certain date, to meet with a professional doctor to ensure your own health. I think this because that image reminded me of the needle the doctors use to get shots and the liquid inside could either be blood or a chemical. Further into my thoughts, if it were blood, it could relate to the fact that everyone runs out of time or it could relate to criticism on doctors and medicine, and could be saying that doctors are really trying to keep us unhealthy by taking nutrients from our bodies and causing us to come back, thus giving them more profit. Similarly, if the red liquid were a chemical, it could be doctors trying to poison us and our health also trying to put us in an endless cycle that results in profit for the business. (Or it could be completely irrelevant, who knows but that's the point of this lol) I sure had a lot to say about a little needle haha

You've seen every easter egg? Okay then, I have a question about one I'd like to hear your theories about. My best friend, while watching the videos basically frame by frame looking for easter eggs, paused on the moment when Duck is building his house of cards in episode 2. Some of the cards are VERY weird. The strangest one, instead of a number, has the letter X in the corner, and where either the suits or the royal face would normally be, there is just a big black rectangle. We've taken to calling it "the X of oil" but we're not sure what it might mean outside of that. Any ideas?
P.S. I'd like to preface this with the fact I'm a big fan of yours, love this show, and ESPECIALLY love this video. I'm thankful that you made it and I can see how much work and time you put into making it, and I appreciate that. But there's something bugging me and I HAVE to say something. You keep saying the word "manipulative" wrong. You're mixing up the T and the L and saying "maniputalive." I heard you say it that way at least four separate times in this video. The first time I figured you just misspoke, but then you kept doing it... D: So, uh, heads up, that's not how it's said. XD ManipuLATive. There you go. Sorry about this, I'm not trying to be mean, but when I hear someone repeatedly pronouncing a word wrong and it becomes clear that they think that's actually how it's supposed to be said, I feel an obligation to let them know so they can be corrected in a nice way instead of having to have some asshole call them an idiot in the future. I don't think you're stupid at all, in fact, I can tell you're very smart, it just seems somewhere along the way you misread how the word is spelled and got stuck saying it that way. i know its a bit late, and i can easily be reaching, but maybe its just a means to show how the adult world meshes with the youth? i mean cards could easily be linked to gambling, but theyre also a common "toy" that just about anyone can get a hold of. another, probably much looser possibility is that maybe it represents the media, going back to the times when books cost the same amount as a farm, playing cards were used to help the common person learn skills, the main ones im thinking of being literacy and deduction. then again, i dont know how far thinking the creators of dhmis were when they made the series so you the second point might not be all that acuurate

Byron Brown she regrets to teach them and quits so the other teachers follows her steps and thinks that is the right way to teach but the notepad intentions weren't intentional it's only the puppets that took it to far so the notepad was a example to the other teacher following her foot steps because the note pad has no intentions in-- you know what I mean... -_-
No, Roy is a victim too. He represents the damage done to someone from the media. That's why he watched those videos in ep. 2. He was damaged by the media. He also showed Red how to unplug the machine in the end.

Fun thought - if you look at Episodes 2-5 and the significantly dominant elements of each (fish, ring, oats, yeast), their initials spell out F. ROY.
Here's my long ass theory
Okay so I think that the whole don't hug me I'm scared series is about murder and the characters are wanting to kill each other. The main two being Duke guy and yellow guy. Now I have heard a lot of different theories regards this subject and I've had to build on those and to get to my own conclusion. One of the main theories that I think is true is about each character being a different age. Duck guy an elder, Red guy an adult and yellow guy a child/teenager. And as we know from real life situations, most old people don't like young children who are annoying them or teenagers that look scary to them Because they are innocent and an easy target. I also think that everything every episode is in duck guys head. It all starts when duck guy is thinking about everything that's going on in the first episode. Duck guy thinks about deaths a lot seen as he is older than the rest of them I think the reason why red guy doesn't have much involvement in anything is because he's just confused and he doesn't know what to do. The last episode is Red Guy trying to escape. Duck Guy used to protect him while making him also want to kill Yellow Guy. So he is trying not to kill Yellow Guy and now that Duck Guy is dead, he just doesn't know what to do anymore. Now for Roy. Roy is Yellow Guys dad (As we guessed) and the reason why he is always in the background is because he is checking up on Yellow Guy to make sure he is ok. Near the end of episode six, we see Roy reaching out to Red Guy. This is him showing that he will help Red Guy understand. It's not violent it's almost loving. But yeah! It makes sense since Duck guy is going crazy and that he's always with Red Guy. Oh and the phone calls, they were from Roy. To stop Duck guy killing his son. And the point where yellow guy was eating duck guy? Roy couldn't bare seeing his son almost get killed or left behind in the woods so he told the giant can to make him food for his son. Yellow Guy never knew it was Duck Guy and never wanted to kill him either.

Everything was very informative and made me think of things about the whole series that I would not have been able to by myself. Well done and congrats on gathering it all in one video! Long but it was worth it.
What I'd like to say now is that you missed on speaking more about how both Red guy and the Duck seemed to actually be following a script in the beginning of the videos only to be bewildered by being thrown in a scenario they did not expect to occur. I was rewatching the videos one by one and it fit a lot in my opinion, I would like to know if anyone agrees or nah and why?

Night mind came up with a great theory about that. He said that its about word Association. Like when you think of a brilliant German physicist in the ww2 period, who helped make the nuclear bomb possible, you'd think he's a nazi. But Einstein was not a nazi, he was a Jew that lived in Germany. Night mind said this could be a "hint" at the teacher in the episode. He's a talking clock, so he must know about time.

In episode one when the duck starts spelling out death that can represent how societies standards are so overwhelming some people turn to suicide.
I loved every minute of this! I have followed this whole explaining since the very first one. It's because DHMIS that I found your channel to begin with. It was such a strange video that I had to look up and see if someone could explain it. And then I found this channel! Even if the first explanation video was just something very simple I still loved it! I've followed each explanation since then because there was just something about this channel I love. There's nothing super flashy and crazy like most channels, it's simple and easy going and I like the style. I look forward to your next explanation!

i watched game theorys video concerning the date and it seemed pretty convincing. He said that the date does in fact have to do with fathers day as roy is actually yellow guys father. He is also shown to be the one controlling the whole show, and that the date changes as to represent the show freeing from roys grasps.
