I would love to train with professor Faria. Besides being a very knowledgeable world champ, he is always cheery and enthusiastic with bjj.
I love how Bernardo always chimes in, always interesting stuff...
Awesome! Thank you Prof Bernardo, I love all your video's and learned so much from Bruno Malfacine...
Love it. thanks for the details!
Golden! Everything rom Malfacine is gold.
Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you again faria!!!
Awesome sweep, gustoso!
I’m a big guy and there is always someone bigger, thanks for sharing.
same here, but i can't execute this well does it work for you I am pretty good at butterfly guard but this 300lb+ guy makes it really hard to sweep
Does anyone know a match where Malfacine does this? I'd really love to see him performing this sweep in a real match. Great sweep btw!
nice one!
Wondering what happens if the top man tries to base out with the hand, seems like that's available given Bruno has not control of it
Awesome technique oooooossssss I am not used to Bruno speaking English sounds good 👌
2 of my favorite BJJ fighters
Hell YEAH !! My game look more alike Bruno Malfa ,Rodolfo Vieira, Xande Ribeiro and Leandro Lo Greatest !!!
Nice!
Thank you BErnardo! Im a bigger guy and this is also great for me to learn. I love your videos please keep posting them. Especially ones good for bigger guys like passes and submissions from side!
How can I use this for no gi? I’d imagine it’s hard to get my hand behind their knee if it’s already compressed. Any pointers I wanna try this!
Question here: How do you prevent him from posting his right hand back??
Hi Frederick, first Bruno pulls me to him, so I move my weight backwords and I dont expect he is gonna sweep forward and he was pulling me, so thats why it works, because he pretends he wants to pull me and he ends up going forward. Bruno does it so fast, that because I dont expect its coming, I dont have time to post my hand. I hope it has helped you. Thanks for the support. OSSS
The commenters are underestimating how fast and far Bruno can circle and bring the knee in when he comes up. A guys gonna have to post really hard to be able to shift the hip off and the post is gonna get unwound by the shifting angle.
Vlw pelo video Bernardo to praticando o OVER UNDER !! OOSS..
Almost resembles an ogoshi judo throw but from sitting
Thanks for the technique! May I ask? how do you prevent them from knocking you over and putting you on your back? or is that a chain into a butterfly sweep? thanks!
Great question Sergio. I believe that in this situation what is going to prevent them to put our back on the mat, will be a very good and tight underhook, you can see that with one arm Bruno gets the underhook, and with the other he controls my paints. But for sure the underhook is what gives him the control. I hope it has helped you. Thanks for the support. OSSS
I think it's what Bernardo says (strong underhook) plus putting your head under his head like Bruno says.
Does it work no gi also? It looks like it would
OSSS
does this work in nogi
I’m 11 feet tall and hit this all the time on my centaur buddy

Surely he’s just going to post with the arm that’s free and stop the sweep? Always feel hopeful when I watch techniques like this but they never work
is he lifting his right left (butterfly hook leg) ? I can't tell if he's lifting his right foot from the mat or if he's just sitting up and pulling the knee .
First technique of technique videos, full technique first explaining later.
Bit what about in a street fight
There's no way he wouldn't post and block it with his right hand though
Right? Thats a pretty optimal situation, he doesn't post and he isnt pushing forward?
Matt Pace I'm guessing the key is in the speed of the reversal of direction. There won't be nearly enough time to post. Obviously this works if they took the time to film this. I doubt 2 multi time world Champs wouldn't consider something so elementary
Matt Pace correct but this is just the general idea of the entry look up "bruno malfacine sweep analysis" from ostapbjj fr the breakdown on how he finishes it even when they post.
laycock50 I just brought up something I didn't see addressed in the video and wanted an explanation on what to do in that case. Go back under your bridge
"A big pleasure"???? Not "a huuuge honor"? :
Why not address the elephant in the room about the hand posting to stop the sweep?
It kind of works the same as his belt grip butterfly sweep. If your opponent is allowed to post both limbs on the side you're sweeping to, then it's a problem. He explores controlling the pants to take out a different table leg rather than the usual arm. Try it out for yourself and see. It was kind of an epiphany for my game. If they do post the hand, they'd only make passing a bit more difficult rather than stopping the sweep. Hope I helped!
Right. Even if the arm is posted, the hips are being moved out from under the torso rather than simply pushing the person over. That's what I'm seeing, anyway. I definitely want to try this. Nearly all of my training partners are heavier than me by 25lbs.
have you considered putting on 25lbs - often easier than learning the technique
@@michaelbishop9157 sure and grow another 4 feet to be taller than the rest of the world.
