Do you guys remember the smell of garlic french fries at Safeco field back in the day. It was a dream come true watching the 01 Mariners. My favorite team of all time not only in baseball but all sports.

Jay, I’m so with you! Seattle was an absolutely gorgeous city back then around 2000ish. I actually managed the diamond club from 2000-2003 fun years

We met Bone before a home game when he was still doing M's tv games in the booth.
Nicest guy you could ever meet. He talked BB with our son. He described his favorite stadium to play in (Fenway 🤨) and why.
Told us about his pregame ritual of watching the opponents pregame and how today's players refuse to do the same.
He struck an interest in our son's play and offered to take a photo or two.

That’s crazy that Seattle is so bad that Jay is talking about it, how beautiful the city used to be and how it’s deteriorated. It’s a shame what’s happening in our society. Cheers

Mr. Boone My Aunt Ann Sherwin was one of the Mariners team nurses in the late 90's and I think the 01 season. I was 10 years old during that 2001 season. My dad was a hometown Seattle boy. I grew up in the Ozarks and Mariners baseball joined me and my dad at the hip. That 01 summer we went to visit family during the all star game week. We did not make the all star game, but the first game you guys played the Giants at Safeco field, not T mobile was the best day of my life and nothing comes close. I lost my dad 10 years ago but that 01 team. You guys made the fans feel like winners. And it is true what Jay Buhner said about the city then and now. Thank you Mariners of the 01 team. Brett you were my favorite player on the team even though I had a cat named Edgar that I unfortunately put down last fall.

Mariners need to bring back the 100+ win season and obviously win the world series too.
The team has too much potential to only be scratching 90 wins.

The Seattle Sonics have more post season than the Mariners do and they haven't existed for the last 16 years. Mariners fans will probably end up watching Portland get a team in the expansion, and then get to watch them win a world series before them. Dipoto is a loser and the 54% and be patient comments cemented my opinion of him. Every time I see any news I can't help but think of Mather and the rotary call and how they are punching above their weight with root sports. Their business practices revealed why they suck, they piss off everyone by being the shittiest, shadiest, cheapest trash in the whole market. I mean ask Kyle Seager how he felt about that Rotary call... My hometown franchise is an embarassment.

I don’t know why sports even talk about expansion anymore with the interest level (MLB) and the product put out (NBA) 🤮. There are great, deserving cities but do we need more teams?

If they trade Crawford that's going to be a huge mistake he's been playing very good and one of the players set to have a break out season but it's going to happen with another team if he's traded.. and probably won't get a good return in a trade for him either

    • @MeneTekelUpharsin

Many people don't realize Crawford had better season last year than A-Rod in 1997 and 1999. There's not many SS that good.

Brett got the best one because he was the first AL 2B with a MVP type of year, and for that to happen while playing at Safeco makes it even more impressive.

Mariners are doomed to be a substandard team in which the few good players they get usually end up spending the season on injured reserves..haniger did last time he was in Seattle, Robbie ray, Marco... they hardly try to get any quality pitchers or batters rather players off waivers and hope they work out

Way to support the Sonics, Bone. Griffey was Griffey, and Ichiro was Ichiro, but no one really embodied Seattle sports like you did. All the shitty trades with New York were almost worth it because of the one great trade we made for you.
