Is there any link to where Gad makes his argument against communism? Everything stated (but not argued) here seems like it would be blown out of the water in a debate by knowledgeable left libertarians and Marxists. In fact, a lot of what he said, Marx himself said, other aspects sound not historically informed, or to commit the naturalistic, and the straw-man fallacy and therefore accidentally be arguments against democracy, or even capitalism as well.

@@seanmoran6510 I totally agree. Our western system (the free secular society) is based on conditions it cannot garantee itself. That is the greatest endavour it has enganged itself for the sake of freedom. This is a quotation of a remark by a german professor of law and chief justice of Germany, Ernst Wolfgang Böckenförde. And the condiitions who sustain a free society are the judeo-christian values. To deny this fact is postmodern gibberish. The last sentence is also a quotation of a most prominent german philosopher (Jürgen Hbermas) who is an agnostic.

    • @piushalg8175

@@azanulbizar12 Enlightenment was founded on ideas developed by
Christianity. For instance classical philosopy did not recognize the equality of men at all. But Christianity brought forward the idea that all men are created in the image of God and therefore have dignity which has to be respected. Of course ideas have a history and the history of emancipation and its underlying ideas is long, full of suffering and even contradictions and inconsistencies. But there is a sharp contrast regarding classical mindsets: for the pagan Romans slaves were mere commodity (legally to handle as one pleases) and the ruler of the family decided rightly about life and death of his subjects (wife, kids and slaves). The abolishment of slavery was largely driven by religious people who put pressure on the english parliament. I think this was the case in the northern US-states as well.

What is the claim, "there is no truth"?....it's a claim of truth...that there is no truth. Post modernists make a claim of truth, while insisting that there is no truth. That's just circular reasoning of a dog chasing his tail, while telling you there is no tail.
It's like me saying, "Look at this lamp, there is no lamp". To the post modernist I say, there is no truth? Good, your claim that there is no truth can be dismissed, out of hand. If the claim that there is no truth is false, where does that lead us? To the obvious conclusion that there is indeed, truth.
Now that we're done, with the post-modernist claim, I'll make a claim. Here's my claim: Post modernists are bone-headed morons who lack logic, can't see their own stupidity.

Ben's what I call 'Harvey Weinstein Woke.' The worst kind of Woke. Hollywood Woke.
For Ben, Woke feminism means women are sexually free to sleep around a lot. Women like high status guys, so Ben had quite a time of it for decades, had a great time with dozens of all those 'liberated' women. He's a complete phony, just goes along with "Woke" to social signal how "progressive" he is. Ben says he believes it. I don't believe him. It just gets him social points, because then some of the ladies think "Ben's sensitive".

And since the media is heavily left-wing biased, the “experts” they put on air are predominantly pushing Woke madness and alarmism. Hence, Covid “doom doctors” treating it as the new Black Death; Critical Race theorists; Climate Change alarmists; militant feminists; Alphabet people. All of it entirely divorced from the real world and unsupported by the evidence around us.

I have come to one conclusion: Social Justice, wokeness and progressivism can ONLY exist in a developed, liberal and first-world nation/region where there are very few existential threats and where the purposeless masses in urban areas have to create some form of ideology to fill the void in their lives. That is why it makes no sense and destroys that society. That is also why rural westerners, religiously inclined people, non-western countries and immigrants mostly tend to hate social justice and wokeness more than the native citizens.

I also lived in a communist country in Europe for 6 months, and saw the reality, not the propaganda, and saw the painting of the Russian T-34 tank by its citizens, and my local friend simply said "Freedom has started!". Where citizens risk death to escape their country, it is a sure sign that freedom does not exist there.

Gad Saad is the most interesting and passionate guest you have ever had, in my opinion - and not because he is a fellow Canadian - because I didn't know that about him when I first hear him speak. When he speaks about "Authentic Self" it gets right into my cells, all of them, and I reverberate because I know that as a member of the human race, being my authentic self is a huge priority. I really believe that deep down inside we all know what is right or wrong but some of us will justify doing the "wrong" thing for consequentialist reasons - and in doing so you become a fraud. This has been my struggle in dealing with other members of the human race - my "spidey senses" flare up when I'm dealing with a fraud and I will not succumb to their infiltration of me as a person for consequentialist reasons and therefor, I too, don't get invited to the "cool kids"/fraud parties. However, I do sleep well at night.

Funny that he mentioned romance novels. My mom was into those big time. You could get them in the kiosk and there were 3 kinds. Castle novels (where the man was a lord) Doctor novels, and one more that I can't remember. I think it may have been airline pilot. They really cranked them out and there were always new issues to be had. It's essentially the same story in all of them, and my mom was so captivated she didn't much care about the real people around her.
Once when I was 5, me and my 18 months younger sister went with her to bathe in the lake on a summer day. We started playing in the shallows and my mom got comfy and started reading another chapter of being whisked away. At some point, I realized that she hadn't paid attention to us whatsoever for a long time, and that anything could have happened and she'd have no idea. Obviously, this was part of a pain that was already there as I was unable to reach her emotionally. Suffice to say, the problem was already established, and the situation at the beach made me want to teach her a lesson. I told my sister, who did what her big brother told her, to hide behind a bush and not come out until I called her. Then I went to my mom and told her with a straight face that my sister had gone under and not come up again.

But her attitude towards me may have shifted from indifference to a slight smouldering hatred. The devil child had made its first move. I don't know. I really have no idea who she was. The "armed police" thing is also a bizarre red herring: Floyd was not shot, and an unarmed British PC could have killed a black criminal in exactly the same way. His killing (which was clearly accidental and only "Murder" in quite a tendentious sense) was the first look a lot of naive, sheltered people had into the brutal reality of policing; unfortunately, for too many of them it was the only look. Only a few of us knew, before Floyd, that the police do far worse things than that sometimes, usually to no media fanfare, and quite often no-one even ends up dead. What's bizarre is that, post-Floyd, it's still only a few of us who know that.
