@CreedOfHeresy Right. Though I will point out that a catridge doesn't explode, its a combustion cycle, kinda like how a piston engine cycle works. Except the piston is the bullet, and instead of valves opening to release pressure before an explosion occurs, it's the bullet leaving the barrel, allowing the fire and hot gas to exhaust. This is why the gun recoils backward, all the pressure is released out the end of the barrel pushing everything backward. In a galaxy where the only measure of success is survival, there is no weapon or form of turture more terrifying then one that kills efficiently. The prospect of individual torment or being digested alive can never be as terrifying to an army as their mighty vehicles and war engines being helplessly picked off at a range where they can not even return fire.
"Tank butt stew" was not an image I ever expected to have in my mind. Now it's one which I fear will never leave. This crew is, without doubt, my favourite group of "random bugger" characters.
I think this is inaccurate. A railgun shell has a small diameter so it does not displace a lot of air. it would basically create a vacuum tunnel of the same diameter by pushing all the air out of the way. After equalization, air pressure inside the vehicle slightly, rather then killing the entire crew. Railguns are real weapons, and if they killed any engineers that way, we'd probably have heard of it by now.

The real problem is giving the rail rifles to pathfinders. It makes scouts a large target, when you need them to be sneaky. We need rail rifles on regular fire warriors.
In the lore theyre supposed to be the bravest fire warriors, who get as close to the enemy as they can without engaging, to mark for their allies. The rail gun doesn't really make sense for that task to me
Awe Baldermort keep the battles interesting with ‘logical counters’* and the determination of committed soldiers. *I have to state logical counters because so many modern story tellers think last minute introductions of new fighting forces are an exciting turn in the battle and not eye rolling. Looking at ‘The rise of Skywalker’
Which then begs the question why the operator and people close to him are not getting killed by the inevitably created radiation and heat that is created. Or simply getting their lungs ripped out of their bodies by the vacuum that the projectile creates. I mean, I can't imagine that every rail gun shot ever fired was fired by someone wearing full body armor, let alone the people in vicinity to the shooter. And even _if..._ said vacuum would suck in even the shooter, no way you fire such a weapon and keep standing. Or lying, doesn't matter.
@@Furzkampfbomber I can bring some explanations to this: 1) Sci fi writers are universally bad with any sort of numbers and maths in their own universe. In this case it’d be one of the rare time where the number is too high rather than too low 2) The Tau developped materials that absorbs radiations as said in the video so it could mitigate the effect 3) I think its fair to say that any person firing this gun is in full body armour. Tau do have full body armour after all, even for their pathfinders.
@@KalashVodka175 Thanks for the explanation. I was just a bit nitpicking anyway, I mean, it's Wh 40k we are talking about, so a lot of things are completely over the top and downright bonkers anyway. Still, I can't imagine that always everyone around a railgun being fired wears body armor. Just imagine a 'we have to protect those civilians from the evil Imperial Guard' scenario in an urban environment. You would almost inevitable fry a lot of civilians.
Interestingly the railgun is in development by several militaries in the real world right now. They are not as good as Tau weapons but hypersonic velocities have been achieved by these weapons. Hypersonic is defined as traveling at least five times faster than the speed of sound.

I am not nearly as adept with words as you but ill try to convey my thoughts into one comment. I love your videos (both the lore and story aspects) and to hear you talk about my chosen faction and indeed one of its most potent weapons and to hear facts that i was not even aware of is truly a treat. Rail techonlogy of the tau is one of my favourite aspects and im glad with psychic awakening its making its way back a little bit (in recent editions its been somewhat supplanted by ion tech). But more than that its just so gratifying to hear someone talk of the Tau with such gusto, to acknowledge that (while maybe to a lesser extent) they do work in the Grimdark setting of 40k. That while certainly not now maybe in the future they could become a serious threat. And that is what i love about your channel. I can hear the love you have for the entire setting, the respect you have for all factions and the effort you put in to giving each one their due. And aside from that the stories you come up with and how you are able to tell them form the perspectives of the side on the receiving end (even when it is the tau getting pummeled) is truly a treat to listen too. Anyway have waffled on enough. Cant wait for the next video and especially looking forward to whatever you have in store for the Tau.
New World Order railguns. For when you just really need infantry that can head shot a tank twice each second on the next moon over. It’s just a deep state to cover it up.
The Taus flowery words being resoundingly hollow... Aye, dirty bunch of space smurfs! Still...I wouldn't mind having one of those railguns. Imagine the fun shooting cans off fences!!
Aww now that was nice. Did I detect a bit of jealousy? It is quite alright. T'au freely share our technology whether you join for the T'au Va(Greater Good) or ignorantly stand in our way. Have Fun. Hope to see you across the board.
The hand held yeet canon of 40k....gotta so though, the blueberries may have good tech but their ignorance may cost them in the long run, wait till they encounter chaos hahaha, that’ll be a fun time for them. Also they did do work with the dark eldar before and that hasn’t been going well for them ever since.
This story shocked me.... It was so good. The lore took me off my feet. Especially the last part where you talk about the Imperium's future if they don't watch out for the Tau. And I am a Hard core Imperium man myself.
I think eventually in 40k lore, that the imperium has to enter an alliance with the Tau and Eldar to destroy the encroaching threat of the Nids and necrons.
No necron is definitely gonna be part of the alliance because the necron silent king saw massive tyranids forces entering the galaxy. So tyranids is truly a terrible threat and on top of that I personally I'm enjoying the tyranids from Hive fleet Kronos cause they're defeating chaos hardcore so eventually chaos has to be involved in this.
@@wiibrockster if you read the lore of hive fleet Kronos you will quickly realize that hive fleet Kronos is kicking chaos very hard. glad you covered the Railguns, they are one of my favorite rifles out there in the franchise.
Oh what I'd give to own a replica of one of these rifles! I've never played Tau but I love their weaponry
Even the Tau can appriecate the need for unnecessarily destructive big ass guns.
0.2c is 20% of the speed of light. Not 2%. That is terrifying and horrible and so very awesome.

I can bring some explanations to this:
1) Sci fi writers are universally bad with any sort of numbers and maths in their own universe. In this case it’d be one of the rare time where the number is too high rather than too low
2) The Tau developped materials that absorbs radiations as said in the video so it could mitigate the effect
3) I think its fair to say that any person firing this gun is in full body armour.

This is the fest video I've seen of yours your voice is butter to my ears so smoth and outstanding
Thank you Mr Baldermort, showing you have another string on your bow. You do a Cockney accent. Guy Ritchie would be proud. You bring so much life to the story.
For Emperor, and the algorithm!
The Tau. *Spits* May Morkai take them and their damned weapons!
Another excellent video my friend! Thanks for helping me get through another day at work lol
Ah yes the single weapon that makes every KT player sweat constantly
2 - 3 of them accompanied by a Recon Drone, and you still have more than half of your points to do just whatever you want.
Tau: the rail rifle has a 1 in 10000 fail ratio, that's unacceptable.
Imperium deploying plasma guns that explode for no reason: nah it'll be fine.
3 pathfinders with these and a few gun drones are all you need to make your friends stop playing Kill Team forever.
Throw in a stealth suit and a recon drone
Just amazing. I truly love your contact!
No matter how many times I hear it I absolutely love your outro!
Yeah, the tank commander just become my favorite character: snarky with dark sense of humor 😎
And now I can’t wait for Vostroyans... especially after Total Warhammer 3 trailer 😂
Tau railguns, for when you just really need infantry that can headshot a tank on the next moon over.
New World Order railguns. For when you just really need infantry that can head shot a tank twice each second on the next moon over.
It’s just a deep state to cover it up.
What's this, a new Baldermort?! Hoooray
Loving each and every one of these tau videos you do they get me pumped and ready for my battles as I make my lists keep up the amazing work!
"Tank Butt Stew" I laughed so hard it nearly hurt over that! Love it!
The Taus flowery words being resoundingly hollow... Aye, dirty bunch of space smurfs! Still...I wouldn't mind having one of those railguns. Imagine the fun shooting cans off fences!!
Once again you grace us with your glorious storytelling.
A truly fine and fascinating entry. The ending commentary alone would make the Imperium QUAKE.
The line "splashed with dead Ogs like they were little painted figures, all sprayed red from the front" was fabulous!
Oh I was hoping this would tie in to the rough riders. Keep em coming and thanks as always
Sh*t the actual bed, i needed to hear Iterator Baldy today! Much gratitude!!!
Aww now that was nice. Did I detect a bit of jealousy? It is quite alright. T'au freely share our technology whether you join for the T'au Va(Greater Good) or ignorantly stand in our way.
Have Fun. Hope to see you across the board.
This is such an amazing story I love it so much
The hand held yeet canon of 40k....gotta so though, the blueberries may have good tech but their ignorance may cost them in the long run, wait till they encounter chaos hahaha, that’ll be a fun time for them. Also they did do work with the dark eldar before and that hasn’t been going well for them ever since.
We already have seen the result of the tau seeing chaos. The Farsight Enclaves
Don’t forget to like and comment to appease the almighty algorithm 😁👍🏼
A Interaction helps the Almighty Algorithm =)
It's highly unlikley but imagine all the Imperium,Asuryani,Drukhari,Tau and Chaos putting their differences aside to destroy the Tyranids
@@messageinthebottle1673 oh dang, any links on tyranids taking on chaos?
@@wiibrockster if you read the lore of hive fleet Kronos you will quickly realize that hive fleet Kronos is kicking chaos very hard. On top of that they're closing in on the great wrap rift and closing it! So chaos are actually getting nervous about the tyranids threat. 😬 which i find it very amusing 😄
@@richardw2801 ua-cam.com/video/XNzpfRL95zQ/v-deo.html
Here it is and remember its hive fleet Kronos that is kicking chaos arse and it specialize in range combat and psychic 🔮 abilities! 🤠
Great video as always 👌 Been listening to some of these as I do some chores, quality.
I really like the new intro it’s a nice touch.
I do look forward to the video on the vostroyan firstborn's.
All hail the algorithm! May it’s blessings rain down upon you!
You sir are one of the best things in existence right now.
Awesome stuff man
Ahhh, I miss the days of 72 inch AP "what's an armor save?" .
P.S. Baldy has become the voice in my head every time I read a "fluff box" in an old army book.
When the Imperium is crying non-stop about the fact that tau are cowards but they only use actual tactics.
They're just mad they forgot how to shoot tungsten rods
@@PoolNoodleGundam Not just Tungsten rods, but LOTS of tungsten rods.
I love your tau stories. They are truly awesome!
What can I say other than, loved it!
Good ole boneless Bill 😂 brilliant
And to think he used to be "bonus bill".
Tau in fluff: small but can hold its own and sometimes even impresses the imperium.
Tau in game: "you get cool models, yes, but you loose most battles because f*ck you. Wait, you found a way to use your weapons? Lets debuff them even more!"
