Great video. You never know what’s gonna work best until you try a few things. Hifi Vega did a video with sa and hi q 6.5’s in boxes built to spec. The sundown one was smaller and had about half the port area. Then he did another video where he swapped them and the sa did much better in the other box

I have the X8, massive xlr84R, audio dynamics 2000 8", ultimax 8, and rockville k9 8. Pairs of each. Right now I have a pair of x8s and the xlr84r's in a horn in my truck. It hits 145.3 at 29hz. Just downsized to an x8 v.3 which strangely seems to have red nightshade spider/leads. Needless to say it’s a beast and I’m very happy with my purchase. This is reassuring to me that it will perform well. I did multiple designs in win isd and it seems a 6th order with the larger chamber tuned to 30hz and the smaller tuned to 47-55hz will give a pretty loud and somewhat flat response without much dip in the middle
I'd like to see the Sundown X8 V3 in a 6th order bandpass, I was looking to do a regular ported box for it, but after looking at your explanation on bandpass boxes, then your demo with the 6th order in the living room with the tissue, that was all the convincing I needed. I would like to do a 6th order. I can't find all the specs on the X8 to put into winISD to get port size I'll have to figure that out.

one of my favorite enclosures was a custom built bandpass,it had two jl audio w/0 series i guess,its been so long ago guys,it was back in 96.the subs were firing up and the sides of the enclosure came up higher with a removable baffle with a 6 inch piece of pvc in the middle,it jammed on all kinds of music,everything BUT when i put in one of those bass 305 or bass mekaniks cd's it came alive and you could crank it on every song and not bottom out the subs.i would love to have another with sundown in it,i guess it was a single reflex bandpass,one of my favs,and i have a 18 inch nsv4 in my 05 blazer that hits crazy low right now but anyways great work man.

For anyone with a VW CC sport 2010 basically from 2007 to 2017 VW CC. The peak frequency is 47hz it's where the subs are the loudest well seem to be anyway. My Skar DDX 15D2 in a Qbomb vented box peaked at exactly 47hz in the car. Yeah I know Qbomb is tuned higher than most box's... But I no longer have that DDX 15" anymore I traded it for a SAv3 8" D4 and I went and ordered a 2nd SAv3 8" D4 and bought a ground pounder box for them that's tuned at 37hz 1.38 cubic foot. And it peaks in the car in the 40s well.. so if anyone was wondering n has the same car I got your cabin peaks in the mid 40s. But it sounds amazing at all frequencies except anything below 33hz it starts dropping off but still does good.
Not crazy at all. If the subwoofer works good in a ported enclosure then you can definitely do a sixth order bandpass. If the subwoofer was meant for a sealed enclosure then you can do a fourth order bandpass.
The SAv3 8" is going to slam in the 6th order hands down. I love mine ppl don't understand that those 8"s hit as hard as 12"s they do period. My windshield in my 2010 VW CC turbo sport bounces like crazy and all I'm running is two SAv3 8"s with the 6 layer spider pack the spl recones in them. And they are on a Skar rp800.1DM and they legitimately slam. I love em I'll eventually go up in power but just on that amp they hit 138.8 DB on music.
Have u tried any CT sounds subs? Recently got some meso 10s from them and built a box to spec they had online and it's just not hitting like they should my Walmart build kills it in every way. Only thing I can imagine is the box is too small, they only wanted .5 cubes per sub sealed which didn't seem right to me
