- This week marks the RMV's placard abuse prevention week, and local law enforcement agencies are making sure the spaces are saved for those who need them.
I'm a disabled veteran. I'm thankful that so many people fight for and with those of us that need the spots. Thanks and be blessed
I'm watching young "disabled vets" jump out of very expensive Trucks nimble as Olympic athletes. Please tell me- if you can navigate a 3 ton Truck for many miles - why cant you walk 20.....30 extra feet to get into the Restaurant or Business ? Especially with spots all over the place. The bullshit must stop. They're giving those Handicap Plates out like candy on Halloween.
I have a disability placard and if I can't find a spot because they're all taken I have to turn around and go home! Stop parking in handicapped parking spaces when you're NOT handicapped!
$150 only? How about $15,000 and a year in prison? Repeated offenders should get the death penalty
Hell give them the Death Penalty for the 1st Offence, skip the Middle Man.
The abusers should get a ticket like in San Francisco; 1st offense $750.00 + if you are using another's permit illegally it gets confiscated and they give another ticket for $750.00.
they to increase it to 1000 dollar fine. with a 2 year suspencion of drvier license and being required to help out at a local rehab hospital. at the same time.
Since doctors are required to sign off at the form (for getting disability placard), the authorities should do the following :-
1) on the form, full details of doctor + clinic must be mentioned.
2) if the abuser has been caught, the doctor who signed off should be served a hefty fine ... Let's say USD 10K (USD 10,000) as well.
3) the abuser has to pay a hefty fine of USD 50K (USD 50,000) PLUS one year's jail sentence.
4) the disabled whose family, relative or friend abused the disability placard, will not receive any disability benefits for two years.

Police officers in Burlington, Iowa park their squad cars in handicapped parking stalls all of the time.
$150 is not big enough. In Sacramento I heard ticket runs to $ 250 to $ 5,000 dollars

Constant problem
I didn't give parking in a Handicap parking spot much thought until I found myself Handicapped. But, I Never parked in the Handicapped spaces.
What about the other 51 weeks of the year?

It's about time. Too many fakes. $465 last I looked here with the loss of ever having your own if you may someday need. Not all Disabled have wheel chairs either. I carry my DMV paperwork so just ask me. I'd be happy to show. In fact I'd appreciate it.
Too easy to have your case dismissed on a technicality 😮. I’ve not seen one stall in 27 years that met all the architectural specifications
The road sign they shows in the news is too old and not in good readable condition.
Most people know they are not qualified stalls if the left side one paint line to the same side on the second 😢 😅 is 8 feet- 1:53

In my area the tickets are $300-$5000... as they should be.
Weak and ineffective enforcement. If a driver violates the space without a placard, boot the car, then impound the car, then ticket the car. Maybe impound the car to a lot a couple of counties over. In other words increase the enforcement to make it "uncomfortable" for the violator.
