I owned a 156 2.0 TS SW with sports pack and a red leather Momo and I still remember it with emotion ... In some time I will need a vehicle to get to work ( 100km return) and 2.4 occasion tickles me . At the engine sound, it is such that it can be heard on the video ( almost ...)? TS on my rear suspension was an elastic system that allowed to place the car by lifting the foot off the accelerator and it was enough to press again walk in to get out of a turn, the process does exist on the 2.4 ( it was abandoned on the restyled versions and thus the version twin cam ) ? Superb sedan ultra enjoyable to drive and maintain .

I managed, at least I think I managed to record "real" sound without some after work. You cannot be wrong with 2.4 jtd. Surprisingly good engine with so many power :) Hope you are going to write some impressions about your new Alfa very soon :)
How much u reckon maintenance comes a year with some basic DIY skills with basic tools u can have at home? (30 000 a year) Would u recommend it as a long-distance autobahn vehicle? 2500€ for 2002 ~170tkm, 1st hand, same engine, with no current defects seems reasonable? Keep the videos coming Suggestion, if possible with visible speedo/rev gauge or GPS readings like channel dextrogen11 here on YT maybe?
Of course, why not? Alfa is still underrated due to well known problems from the past, but in fact it is not true. I don't want to compare with others, but in my opinion for that amount you will get the best car. Alfa likes perfect flat roads, so for autobahn it would be great. Before buying check please "wishbones", shock apsorbers and everything related to suspension. That is where alfa comes to be "expensive maintenatnce". And thanks for your suggestions and comment. :)

I'm listening in headphones and liking how the sound is so present and locatable. How did you mike it? It's one of the cars i've been considering, along with Peugeot 406 Coupé (i think i'm in love with that one) or maybe a Jaguar X-Type. I live in south of Germany, so BMWs and Audis are not an option, they'd just blend in too much. The Alpha 156 used to also be over-abundant here, not sure where they are all gone now - rusted all the way through? I recall a friend had a Lancia from late 90ies, and had a hard time getting into it a lot of the time because rust running down the door would block the door lock, and this was just one of many issues. Regardless, Alpha numbers dropping means they're becoming an option for me.

I'm using portable digital recorder inside the car for sound, and on this track as I remember, I did some corrections after. I found recording engine sound without proper equipment a nightmare. Everything is easier to record than engine :) My vote always goes to Alfa :), believe me, it is an excellent and exciting car :) so do not think, just buy it :) You can buy beautiful restyling models 2005, 2006 :) Have a nice drive :) !

exelente carrinha , e com esse motor deve ficar um luxo, bem diferente do jtd 115 que eu tenho ,na minha sw jtd 2003, gostava de vir a ter a 156 sw de 2004 em diante com este motor ou o de 20v 175 hp, ou mesmo este de 150 10v tbm ja seria bom, pois o que eu mais adoro é o soom dos 5 cilindros deste maravilhoso carro,.. tem um trabalhar unico ,..tipico dos 5cc cilindros

Hey thanks for your comment. From 2 year experience hanging with this car, I would say something like this Slow light drive (up to 90kmh) 5-6 l City drive (big city) 8-10l Highway (up to 120kmh) 5-6l Highway more aggressive drive (140-160kmh) 7-8l
Yeap 2001. Lybra? If you don't mind rounded head lights :) very very good car. It is almost the same engine, if you think on 2.4 jtd. I don't know, if you need a family car, Lybra is a little bit tighter, and higher but maybe a better option, but if you are buying car for you, to drive and enjoy then go with Alfa romeo 156. The Lancia Lybra is even more nice to drive and it has a even nicer interior and with the 2.4 jtd it drives like a dream.
Lancia Lybra is more Luxury variation of Alfa 156. It has softer suspension and is more quiet inside.

i have the 156 jtd sportwagon, but m not this egineme, is 1,9 jtd 115 , and remapade to 140 hp , and is fun car and beautifull

156 2.4 jtd 10v its not Correct its a 156 2.4 jtd 20v 175hp in real are over 180hp
Its a 10v 140hp remapped to 180hp. 175hp engines are 20V.
I have the 136hp model remapped to +-170hp
