I played this song when I'm was a Freshman and it was my favorite... My favorite song out of all of them was The Peat-Fire Flame and An Eriksay Love Lilt because I was the first flute and the Senior girl didn't like that I was, so that made me determined to prove to her that I was worth being the first flute. Still, play the flute to this day after 4 years... I miss playing in a big band.
WS Hebrides Suite: (1:24): One of my favorite parts in the piece is at timestamp 1:24. This is when all of the ensemble comes together in a prideful and powerful manner and demeanor, with the brass taking the melody, whilst the lows and wood-winds support. Hebrides Suite: (4:13): Another part of the piece that I love is at 4:13. This particular part holds a gorgeous melody led by the woodwinds, but at the same time, you can also hear the gentle and somber nature of the harmony, consisting of the low winds.
I played this song in 7th grade middle school band and hearing it again makes me wanna cry I loved it so much. I still know my part. I’m a bass clarinetist
There is missing the bass clarinet part in the third movement! (Which in my opinion it would be a really nice add to the band). Overall it sounds nice :)
0:00 The Peat-Fire Flame
2:50 An Eriksay Love Lilt
6:00 Milking Song
