    This fence is now one of the hottest items on the Market in New Jersey. 4 years after this video was posted everyone who’s getting a new fence Is going for the horizontal slip fence.

    How bad would an 8ft length board look horizontally… trying to save some money thanks.

    • @slipfence
      @slipfence  Рік тому

      The problem with going 8 feet wide on the horizontal is the boards tend to warp substantially at that length.

    I just installed this and it looks great. I used cedar boards. Was I supposed to leave gaps between the boards for expansion? It does not sat to do so.

    • @slipfence
      @slipfence  2 роки тому

      Hi Scott, No you don't leave gaps for expansion. The wood boards will shrink over the next 4-5 weeks and as such will leave gaps and the reason for the 4-week shrinking period before you screw all boards into the channels.

    How thick is that deck board

    • @slipfence
      @slipfence  Місяць тому

      Hi, the deck board is what is called a 5/4. (five-quarter), but it is actually 1" thick. Dont buy 1x 6 fence boards as those are only 5/8" thin. The horizontal system uses 5/4 Deck boards. The vertical system uses Fence pickets.
      Hope that helps.

    Why does it only come in black for the posts?? That’s so limited and archaic. Not everyone has black in their home color schemes. So they will look totally odd in my yard!!
    Why don’t they offer them at least in unfinished metal so I can paint them whatever color I want??$

    • @slipfence
      @slipfence  2 роки тому

      Hello GC. The reason for black is that even if there is no other black in the yard black tends to blend into the background especially at night. The issue with offering colors is that the spectrum is extremely wide to try and please all. Our new composite system is offered in 4 board colors but again the posts are still black. To answer your other question regarding leaving them metal, this also is not an option because just painting aluminum will chip and flake over time. This Slipfence product is powder-coated beginning with a 5 stage pre-treatment including chloride wash and acid etching so the coating sticks to the aluminum for good.

      @@slipfence sorry I’m still not convinced. Black does not fit everyone’s taste or color scheme. On my patio and yard it will stick out like a black thumb
      You should consider offering it in at least four basic colors. Black, white, cream and rust/burgundy. You WILL sell a lot more
      I moved on from selecting yours for my yard and I’m sure thousands more as well

      The product has actually been tested and passed the Miami Dade County test to withstand, (hurricane like), winds of 115 mph in 3 second gusts for a full 24 hours 3 times.

    Thumbs down on the video because it looks like a great product that I would like to use, but apparently you just make these videos for fun because you can’t buy Slip fence anywhere. And the information I’m looking for isn’t on your website.
    If you want to get serious about selling this product, add a section to your website for architects. Add some specifications and details for the measurements of each piece including the channels for the horizontal install. Also information about a gate attachment would be helpful. You really need to have a complete system in order for someone to seriously consider using your product.
    But I guess all of these points are meaningless since I can’t find a place to purchase the product.
    I really don’t understand why so many companies make it so hard to purchase their products.

      Hi Jay, The SLIPFENCE product is available in stock at The Home Depot in Canada and through special order at the pro desk at Both Home Depot and Lowes in the USA.
      The specs for each item are also on these websites. We are just completely overhauling our SLIPFENCE website right now and hence the reason for it being a little cumbersome to navigate. We apologize for that.
      If you would like to contact us please contact our office toll free at 1-866-336-2340.
      Thank you. Tom

      "... add a section to your website for architects." WELL that explains why you're arrogant. Now that he gave you info, don't you feel stupid?
      If I was someone who needed an Architect, I wouldn't hire you. Since Architects can be replaced by computer software, you should be a little less arrogant.
