I work in the automotive industry and I will tell you we are not moving our evs . No one wants them especially in the lowered income areas.
I too work in the automotive industry and shake my head every day as evs come down the assembly line. We are barely working eight hour shifts. We have no say in what we build which needs to change. Biden dangled a carrot in the big three faces and they bit. This was a bad idea period.
Notice that these fools never talk about the cost of an EV.
The initial purchase is small compared to maintenance.

My prediction is that the green energy move will be such a blow to the economy that no one will be able to purchase North American built cars. Politicians then will see the light pass emergency legislation to open the market to cheap Chinese and Indian ICE cars and we will be more polluting and have lost our auto industry completely to China.

I actually agree with Jessica. I am totally onboard with hybrids and it doesn’t make sense why Biden isn’t pushing those instead. But yes, all electric is ridiculous. We’d be going backwards in convenience and “progress”. Also most truck drivers are independent contractors so they have to pay for a new electric truck every 8 years out of their own pockets.

Electric car batteries are built using fossil fuels. It’s literally insane.
More significantly, those batteries are charged with fossil fuels.
China has plenty of pollution...way more than USA.
Some EV batteries are built using renewable energy.
EV batteries charged by fossil fuels still emit less CO2 into the atmosphere than gasoline/diesel cars because they are more energy efficient.
Over the lifetime of the ev they are still better. Yes fossil fuels are still used and they need to be. Will we eventually do away with fossil fuels completely? Yes we will it’s only a matter of time.

My neighbor used a huge bonus to bye a Tesla. He had the plug put in his garage. I asked why he seldom drives it. His answer, it raises his electric bill so high he can’t afford to.

Let me help you here... When you buy an appliance they have a bright yellow tag that tells you how much it'll cost to run that appliance, plugged in, got a year! If it was less than $100 a year to charge an electric vehicle they'd have put a bright yellow sticker on the car and said so. There's a reason they don't. God bless.
Their push to convert the OTR industry is going to FAIL big time. You can not expect trucks that need to go 1200 miles between fuel stops to go with a battery that runs 300 before needing to charge for 3 hours when a driver can refuel in 20 minutes.
3 Ford dealerships in my area have 30 PLUS electric F150’s and e Mustang’s at each location. Dealerships are 😮losing money every month on inventory they can’t sell…

I have a family member who is president of a local union in the Los Angeles area. He constantly speaks with Governor Newsome and his office concerning the move to electric vehicles in the state. Keeping in mind that my family member is all for this move to electric, he constantly informs the governors office that the infrastructure throughout the city CANNOT be ready to accommodate the huge amount of vehicles if they become electric. He says it would take more then 20 years to be able to supply the stations needed to charge these vehicles. Plus, even if they could get those built in half the time, there is no way they could generate the electricity to supply these stations! I’m all for electric but I’m also a realist. I think the hybrid vehicle is a good way to get prepared to make such a switch to electric. It gives us time and allows for more ingenuity to occur when it comes to this ideology.
Somebody needs to explain to Pete Buttigieg just where those electric plugs get their power from - and it's NOT wind and/or solar power plants!
One of my clients in a major auto retailer. He recently told me to NEVER buy an EV. The batteries are even worse than we think.

Honestly, plug in hybrids are a bit more sensible option. I can see something with a fifty mile range but with an ICE. Maybe even the ability to act as a back up generator to power your house when there is a grid failure.

So, us less income folk, or fixed income folk, who are not allowed by our government to go out and make more money, who live in apartments without garages, where are we suppose to charge these vehicles we cannot afford?
But they have your best interest in mind- they are protecting you since you are dumb, so dumb in fact you don’t even know it. You won’t have to go out anymore cause you won’t have anywhere to go to- you won’t have the money to buy anything and there will be nothing to buy since there will be very limited, if any, supplies supplied.

Sure, landline phones are old technology. I don't recall subsidizing cell phones in the '80s. If a product is better, people will pay through the nose. The government doesn't need to pick winners and losers.

I don't give a rip what Biden says -- EV's are far too expensive to buy and far too expensive to maintain. Most of the EV's in existence are made in foreign nations. Charging an EV costs as much or more to keep charged than it costs to provide A/C and Heat for the average 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. Thank you very much, but no thanks. My combustion engine vehicle are far more reliable than today's electric grid. If I couldn't charge an EV, why in the name of all that's holy, would I have an EV. As long as I keep my vehicle maintained and maintain its fuel levels, my engine will start and run and I can get to the grocery store, pharmacy, or a doctor's office, or in extreme cases a hospital. Look up EV reliability. From credible sources not FOX. I drive an American made chevy volt and Cadillac ELR. Both run on batteries and have generator backup. My costs are far less than those Toyotas I have owned. Sounds like you are from rural America.

To echo what Dana said, I work in Logistics for a grocery retailer, and on-time deliveries is one of our primary focuses. An entire fleet of EV trucks will disrupt our delivery schedule bad enough that you may be stuck eating cereal without milk, french fries without ketchup, or cupcakes without frosting.
