Self-compassion is so important. A science backed way to question and remove the power of the inner critic (and the affect of critical individuals with their own inner critics). The inner critic is a pattern of thought and a functioning of our primitive, evolved, brain. It tries to keep us safe and aware of danger, but in our modern world has become overaching and deeply problematic. Self-compassion is the sword to the dragon of the inner critic. It's the sword we can instantly summon and equip ourselves with (through awareness) to fight the dragon whenever it rears it's ugly head. Each time we practice, we reduce the power of the dragon until it becomes manageable even in the most difficult times. Kristin was a fabulous guest and helped teach us all invaluable knowledge and skills in this one! Thank you so much for this podcast Dan.
I used the compassionate letter when I badly injured myself. I was having daily panic attacks. Along with havening hypnosis by Paul McKenna, it got me through 6 very painful weeks. Thankyou.
Dan I struggle just like you do with the fear of laziness or lack without my critical voice. I'm trying to learn. I wonder how your progress has been and what you have noticed.
Thankyou. This is a great episode with Kristen Neff.
We're so glad you enjoyed it!

That was awesome
Reparenting (w/ self compassion) myself for two years has really reduced my toxic shame created by childhood CPTSD.
Thanks for sharing.
