It's time to get that turkey for Thanksgiving y'all! First, we stop by Aldi for some Sweet Vanilla Cold Foam and to check out this week's Aldi Finds, then we go to Ingles to shop for the turkey and some of their sale items. Titus and the boys are hauling and delivering some horses this evening while us girls make some Vintage Thanksgiving Side to go with the Maple Ranch Pork Chops for supper!
Maple Ranch Pork Chops
Ingredients:
6-8 Pork Chops
1 packet Ranch Dressing mix
oil for cooking
1/2 cup maple syrup
Directions:
Season both sides of pork chops that are about ½-¾-inch thick with Ranch Seasoning packet.
Warm enough olive oil to generously coat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Cook the pork chops in the pan and sear for about 3-5 minutes on each side. After flipping the pork chop once, start basting the cooked side with maple syrup.
Once the pork is cooked through, flip it once more to brush maple syrup onto the other side. Serve hot.
Creamy Hashbrown Casserole:
Ingredients
1 package frozen cubed hash brown potatoes, thawed
1 pound Velveeta, cubed
2 cups sour cream
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
3/4 cup butter, melted, divided
3 tablespoons chopped onion
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 cups cornflakes
Directions
Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, combine hash browns, Velveeta, sour cream, soup, 1/2 cup butter and onion. Spread into a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Sprinkle with paprika. Combine cornflakes and remaining 1/4 cup butter; sprinkle over top. Bake, covered, until heated through, 40-50 minutes. Uncover, bake until top is golden brown, 10 minutes longer.
Grandma's Stuffed Celery
NOTE: I only made half of this original recipe. 😁👍
Ingredients
1 bunch celery - large stalks washed, trimmed, and cut into 3 sections
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese at room temperature
¾ cup chopped pimento-stuffed green olives
1/2 tsp garlic powder
black pepper to taste
Directions
Thoroughly dry each piece of celery with paper towels. Mix the cream cheese, olives, garlic, salt, and black pepper in a bowl. Using a piping bag squeeze a generous amount of cream cheese filling down the center indentation of each celery piece. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
Cranberry Fluff
NOTE: I only made half, but this is the original recipe. 😁👍
Ingredients:
4 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
3 cups miniature marshmallows
3/4 cup sugar
2 cups diced unpeeled tart apples
1/2 cup halved green grapes
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped
Directions
Place cranberries in a food processor or chopper; cover and process until finely chopped. Transfer to a large bowl; add marshmallows and sugar.
Add the apples, grapes, nuts, and whipped cream.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
I recommend making this a day or two in advance. 😁👍

Hi Angel girl and everyone else 😇 U was in the hospital a week, now I am at physical therapist place for maybe two to three weeks. I just got someone this morning to go feed and water my cat's. Growing up my great grandparents host Thanksgiving most years and it was always a very formal affair. Nice dresses, suit and tie, china, fine silver...the whole nine yards. The celery platter was always served as a dish. We filled ours with peanut butter and cheese whiz. Not together. 🤣 I still serve it to this day. The platter always contains celery, broccoli, carrot sticks, green and black olives. A couple different dips were served on the side for this platter specifically. So strange how that is now considered vintage. Am I really that old? 🤣

I always do a veggie, olive, pickle tray.. my mom called it a relish tray:) I was born on the 80s so I'm not too old..
We stuff our celery with cream cheese and walnuts nothing else. And we use it as an appetizer. My mom has been doing this for 59 years. My husband( that hates celery), can’t get enough of it.

Cream cheese, olives, and celery have been a family favorite on our Thanksgiving table as long as I can remember. What I can never figure out is why I don't make them during the year!

Try stuffing 1/2 of your celery with a mixture of cream cheese, drained crushed pineapple & chopper pecans. It is yummy

Happy Friday early Saturday morning lol. I done it again . Was out this evening late with my kids . We went to our 🎄 lighting downtown. It was beautiful. They had elementary school choir singing Christmas songs, lots of food trucks, different vendors selling things. My daughter got her a custom candy apple. We took pictures. Santa was there too. We seen him from a distance. We did try to wait in line to get a picture but it was way too Long. It was just family fun. I bought us some inflatable hats from Walmart comes in 3 one elf, Santa, & reindeer it was only $1.69 for 3. It comes with a straw to use to blow them up. My daughter & I wore our Christmas 👕. Tomorrow is our Christmas parade 9:30am. I'm not going to it. I'll catch it on TV. The cranberry fluff you made reminded me of Watergate salad we make. It's with diced pineapple with juice in can, pastashio pudding mix,small marshmallow s, nuts, 1 tub of cool whip mix it all together. 😋 My kids love it. I'm with Sissy, don't think I would like the cranberry side dish either. I liked mine cooked with sugar and sometimes some rosemary. My mother in law use to serve celery with port wine cheese and a glass of Cold Duck for Thanksgiving, as an appetizer. Times have changed. My mother would stuff the turkey the night before and put it on the cellar steps till morning and start cooking around 5 am. It's a wonder I'm still alive. My brother-in-law saw a recipe he made where you start the turkey the night before in the oven cook for a while then turn the oven off till morning with the turkey still in the oven and turn it back on in the morning. I didn't eat much turkey that year, but everyone survived. Go figure. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and enjoy those pies too. 💜 🦃 🥧

Cream cheese in celery is really good. My mom use to make that or celery with Cheese Whiz in it.
I love celery with cream cheese and olives. I had that growing up in the 60's. I like the Ingles prices. I'm headed there tomorrow after seeing those great prices. $.59 a lb for turkey is awesome. I wish we had an Aldi near me. I keep sending their corporate office email requesting a store around here. Manley is going to be a cowboy like Daddy and brothers. So cute.

Your Aldi's has a lot more Christmas stuff than our does here in Summerville, SC. I guess each Aldi's get different things. I'm going to start decorating for Christmas the Friday after Thanksgiving. Can't hardly wait, I absolutely love Christmas. Jesus is the Reason for the Season definitely.

Where I'm from, we call those cheesy potatoes, funeral potatoes. I know it sounds morbid, but that's what everyone brought to funerals hence the name.

I drink Luizanne tea too.. the only kind I like. That is a great price. There is no Ingles here. We have publix all over the place lol but there is a Whole Foods, Trader Joes, 1 Winn Dixie left, Sprouts and Walmart. Interesting recipes. I have heard of cranberry fluff but never tried it.
