I mean Chris not giving a fuck about contacting Hunt’s family sounds just like James Hunt
Chris went full method then? 😂
Right!! 😂😂😂
That’s not what James hunt was like at all. Do some fucking research
Tbf even Daniel bruhl getting in contact with Niki and learning himself from him also souns like niki
Lol thank you
What’s funny is when you watch the entire episode him explaining how his dad was and what he was like, Chris played his dad pretty accurate lol.
I'm wondering if he meant how Hunt was portrayed towards Niki in the film, when in truth they were actually close friends and even flatmates during some of the lower categories
Who are you to say over hunts own Son.
@@N.CTT1991 because he was very young when hunt died and he's his son, he's obviously biased
@@N.CTT1991it’s pretty easy when the guys life is so well documented and people who were adults with him have backed it up. The kid who never knew his dad as a man but just daddy doesn’t really have any say in “who” his dad was as an adult. He literally was never old enough to know 😂
@matthewbernard4152 It's still absurd to believe that whatever footage and documentation may be available is more accurate than reaching out to the family a d relatives. Surely, Hunt's son wouldn't have been the only source of information, but he could've acted as facilitator. So yes, Hemsworth and Howard may have done a poor job.
Niki lauda even said that it captured the two of them perfectly and that it was a great movie
Not perfectly. He said "Rush" was 80% accurate, which was awesome tribute to his 20% risk rule.
I recall Niki said in an interview once that James wasn't such a twat and that Niki wasn't so stuck up but those aspects were played up for the drama in the movie.
@@nyelbaig Which is understandable when the narrative of the movie is their rivalry, if you don't play them like fierce enemies throughout, then there's no conflict or stakes. The final scene is perfect for how it acknowledges the truth that they were friendlier than the movie made out without undercutting itself.
@@loganit0if a biographic movie is 80% accurate, that’s pretty damn good in my book. The Motley crue guys even made the dirt movie themselves, and it’s like 8% accurate.
Lauda was promoting.
I almost slapped him…. Sounds like Chris played him accurately
His dad. Not him
@@caijones156 like father like son
Lool fucking nerd
@@fredwake9805 so your saying every nazi decandent is a nazi as well ? a child of a muderer is also a muderer ? The expression the apple doesnt fall far from the tree or like father like son, is one of the most bs sayings ever. It literally only exist to put people down.
@@xithr5674 I’m not saying that of course but I’m tryna say no matter what u gain mannerisms from your parents without even trying and tbh, I was more joking than anything else Idek who the geezer is 🤣but hav a gd day mate
Daniel Bruhl is so slept on. Easily one of the most talented and adaptable actors out there
He was great as Frederick Zoller in Inglorious Bastards too!
Not slept on at all
Daniel Brühl is a god-tier actor. He's great in everything he's in.
That dance in falcon
Highly recommend watching goodbye Lenin if you haven’t seen that. He’s excellent there as well.
Funny how he can accept thag Nikki was a prick and was portrayed correctly but can't accept daddy was also a prick
He didn't know kniki in his personal life
There’s a difference between portraying a man who knows what he wants and how to get it to a prick. Might want to watch the movie again as Lauda always had values in whatever he did.
@reverseengineeredbot3387 only knew his dad for like 6 years or so no?
@@Cookivirus yea and not like he can remember
@@jamesbarry9477Nor could the American director or the actor.
Apple don’t fall to far from the tree lmao
The kid was 5 years old when his dad died, how could he possibly know what he was like?
Pretty sure he has uncles or aunts and other close family that know hunt really well. Point is the director didn't make any attempt to reach out to to the Hunt family. Which a minimum level of courtesy when you're making a movie off a real life character.
@@isaacm2374 yeah But your family is always gonna praise you
Damn you guys are all being too savage
@@isaacm2374That's not what he said here? Chris didn't contact the family. Maybe he felt like Ron's direction was good enough - or maybe he didn't have the time to do so? Simple fact is we're hearing one side of the story here.
@@isaacm2374dude, james hunt was a dickhead, that’s why everyone loved him, he had a fantastic sense of humour and was a genuinely good driver
If James Hunt's personality was anything like his son's... then Hemsworth nailed it. I don't know the man, but just going off this video alone, Hemsworth did a great job lol😂
Calling Hemswoeth a “poor actor” while also saying you nearly slapped Ron fucking Howard tells me all I need to know. Chris played James to perfection
He's not a great actor. He has charm. That's his limits
I have watched hunts broadcasting of f1 and I don’t think the character in the film was that far off, but idk.
Well, Freddie is probably under the "my daddy" filter. I've seen comments saying that Niki himself either said the movie was mostly accurate, and that Hunt wasn't such a prick.
But it's a biopic, it's made to be dramatic, not completely accurate, that's for the documentaries.
I mean, the James Hunt that was seen by the public was pretty damn close to the James Hunt we saw in Rush lol
Firstly, Hunt wasn't alive. Secondly, his son wouldn't know what his dad was like as he wasn't alive then and finally the son would never say anything bad about his dad. Maybe, his dad was a prick, we'll just never know.
Son and family are two very different words, but if in doubt, portray them like a prat
If James hunt were the film star he wouldn't have asked to follow the family. Hemsworth doing f all was the most Hunt move of all
I guess it's a courtesy thing or just a perception of putting more effort in to contact the family and get that perspective.
But it's not really fair to compare the actors because Rush was probably not Hemsworth's main project at the time and it could just be a difference in acting style. Some actors like to research heavily into historical figures they're playing, others see it as a story and will just follow the screenwriter and director.
Idk I’ve heard from everyone who knew your dad that Chris did an incredible job
Allaister Caldwell and Lord Hesketh have made statements to the contrary.
Him complaining about the way his dad was portrayed as a prick, actually made the performance more believable😂
Lol, Chris played that role perfectly
The sound engineers who mastered this movie should get a standing ovation. The v12 engine and the race scenes. Was worth watching this in the cinema
Think you'll find it was a flat 12
@@chrisb8075 Ferrari were the only ones using flat 12 engines in the 70’s, most of the other teams were using the Cosworth DFV, except for maybe one or two other teams using a V12.
@@chrisb8075They were actually just flat V12s, not the boxer kind (which many consider real flats)
“My Dad was a better playboy than was portrayed in the film and I’m really angry about it”
Chris played my dad like a twat…..
So spot on then 😂😂
Hunt was dead…. What is hemsworth supposed to do? Ask a kid who wasn’t even around what his dad was like during that time period? Kids a bozo
Contact the family or people who knew him well
Or made an effort
Ya .....but the thing is filmmaker often to spice up things in muvi based on true incident they .add stuff on the name of creative liberty...but i think history muvis muvi should carry truth more.....and be creative around it .... showing truth should be priority
Just watching Hunt’s commentary on old highlight tapes would have given a real marker as to who the man who and how he presented himself. He was not arrogant.
Bruh this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard💀YOU DO REALISE THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE IN A FAMILY OTHER THAN JUST A SON RIGHT?
In other words "I'm pissed I didn't get to meet Chris Hemsworth"
😂😂😂
Thats basically what I was thinking too. Sounds like he took offense to not meeting Hemsworth.
I really don't think so lol. Not everyone worships celebrities.
Family members are often a terrible resource on other family members. What you hear from everyone is that chris did a great job portraying hunt.
Daniel Bruhl = Great actor.
This guy surfing on the coat tails of his dad needs to get a reality check 😂😂😂
Of course the guy is going to be upset about the way his father was portrayed. The truth hurts
He wasnt even portrayed bad. Just a playboy with big ego. Which Hunt was
Hes a happy soul.
I imagine this is the contrast of how family tell you who your father was vs how the outside world saw him, just a guess
Well what we saw in the movie, Chris played it beautifully and his acting was great.
I think he knows what his dad was probably like more than just an unknowing viewer
@@theempowerer5718 Really... he was 5 when his dad died... So I doubt he really knew much about him at all...
I nearly slapped him...sura ya did bro!!
He was talking about Ron Howard, the director, not Chris Hemsworth. Still makes his son loom like a twat so maybe James really was too
Sounds like they both played the characters pretty accurately.
Brühl is such an underated actor.
I don't know how the real James Hunt was but props to Daniel Brühl for actually spending time with Niki Lauda and learning who Niki was as a person and as a driver.
The problem with what Freddie claims here is that he was very young when James died. He didn't know what James was like 20 years before he was born. Plus James Hunt in his later years wasn't quite the same James Hunt he had been in the 70s...he had cleaned up his act considerably a decade or so later.
Those people who actually knew Hunt back in the 70s agree that while some stuff was clearly exaggerated, Chris Hemsworth did an excellent job.
Daniel Bruhl was even better but he also had direct contact with Lauda, Hemsworth obviously couldn't do that. I doubt meeting any of Hunt's family would have given him that same advantage Bruhl had.
So basically Chris nailed his character then 🤔
There wouldnt have been any point in hemsworth basing the character off of what the family said, of course thry are going to say he was the most perfect person in the world
Exactly! I don't even really understand what his problem is here. You'd swear Hemsworth played Hunt as some wife-beating, drug-addled loser who everyone hates! He played Hunt as this very cool playboy F1 racer on the surface who had a massive ego and was arrogant to no end... but underneath was also very human and caring and considerate when it involved the people he respected or loved. He felt the hurt and frustrations as anyone who ever worked hard to be great at what they loved doing. He was complex and Hemsworth did a damn fine job in the role for what was asked of him!
Uh typically in films based on real people the actors want to talk to the family and friends their playing.
@@barrister99 well yeah typically they do but if your going to play a character that will be portrayed like a bit of a dick your not going to go to the family for unbiased advice
Can see the guys point as if it was your father and they portrayed him in a different way than you would be annoyed. Still a great movie but you can see his point as Hemsworth did make him look like a uncontrollable drunk half the time but on the flip his passion to win was like a fire that he showed on screen. One of the best racing movies ever with a great ending as they were such brave men dicing with death daily.
The children of successful and famous people really feel like they are hot shit huh?
Yep, Ozzy Osbourne's kids spring to mind.
Lord Alexander Hesketh who was James Hunt’s boss said Hemsworth portrayal was ‘uncanny’
Cause he properly knew the guy.
That's not what I heard him say in an interview. Listen to James Hunt comment on races on the BBC and the come back and tell me if you think Hemsworth nailed it.
I think he’s reluctant to realize his dad was a Twat lol. Everyone loved him. The arrogance, the playboy lifestyle, and most importantly, the racing. But he wasn’t subtle or a beta. He was a badass alpha who did what he wanted whenever he wanted. Legend for a reason
Didn’t lauda say it was like 90% correct there was no lauda interview ps where he said Chris was in accurate
Yeah and I didn’t think hunt came off as a twat in the film either
@@gretsky3463 Yeah agreed, I even think there is a better argument for Lauda portrayed as a twat. After the journalist scene it's hard not to root for him.
Actually he said it was about 80% correct.
@@AH-be6bu there were scenes where Hunt beat up the reporter for Nikki that was not accurate, but that doesn't mean Lauda said Hemsworths portrayal of Hunt was inaccurate
He didn’t even come off like a twat he just came off as exactly how he was just minus some details
"I nearly slapped him" - that's so funny. One, spoilt children can rarely hit. Two, "nearly".
Well Niki said they captured their dynamic perfectly and he played Hunt like he actually was during that time sooo...
“Truth is too awesome noone would believe it” he basically told u kick rocks kid
I also think it's pretty rude that Hemsworth didn't reach out and meet up with Hunt...
Most people agree Hunt was portrayed well besides the whole feud between Niki and Hunt was maybe a little overdramatic but they were competitors like Lewis and Rosberg so they had some level of animosity. It was done well I mean Hunt wasnt an angel come on now. You can see his old interviews and how he carried himself.
You nearly slapped a guy who's clearly never had a fight in his life.. Wow, my hero
Its a great movie and extremely well made, The spirit of James and Niki was spot on.
Awww, you’re mad because Chris didn’t want to hang out with you! 😂🤣😭😭
Tbh Chris Hemsworth is a great actor and by the mannerism displayed by James’ Sibling sounds like Hemsworth got it pretty accurate 😅
Why would anyone ask my kid what I was like at work?
Every movie needs an antagonist so Chris was probably told to play it that way
This clip is taken well out of context…he just says Chris played his dad like a twat and well from his son saying that it’s exactly how James was, just an arrogant arsehole but could back it up, shame he died at 45 the interviews would’ve been phenomenal but the film is one of favourites
Freddie's entire personality is his dad. Poor guy even copied his dad's hairstyle. Definitely a lot of weakness issues in there
He's definitely emulating his father and trading on Hunt's fame for clout and his own ego.
He's not the only relative of a famous driver to use that connection to their advantage, and there isnt anything terribly wrong with that...but Freddie just comes across as very obnoxious about it
Yea this guy is an absolute clown.
Well, In Chris’ defence, he couldn’t go ask James and learn.
It is also natural for we as humans not to admit to our own personal flaws anyway. Had James still been around, I'm not sure he would have been an objective source of information!
Now get em both on the pod and let's find out
He played him perfectly you muppet 😂
i was so fixated by daniel's performance that i thought he was the movie, cold, calculated like a quantum computer
Just shows who was professional and gives a thought to the profession
He just sounds bitter that Hemsworth didn’t contact him 😂
It's a film, they couldn't make it 100 percent accurate as they needed to make it an attractive film to non car/racing enthusiasts. They had Niki as the serious and uptight one, and Hunt as the more relaxed and cocky one. It may not be 100% accurate but the film versions were the perfect foils to each other. James' son is also missing out the fact that the film has introduced younger people to Hunt and Lauda, younger people who were fascinated by the film and now have spent there own time looking at the real life story.
Isnt the movie from Nickis point of view? And Nicki thought he was a asshole? So even if he ocer played the asshole part he did a goodjob since thats how Nicki saw him?
Lauda liked Hunt a lot. They played jokes on each other and were even flatmates at one point.
I didn’t take away that James Hunt was anything of the sort. Thought it was very well done.
“The truth was too awesome. No one would have believed it.”
WHAT
Seemed accurate to me 😂
“Why did you change so many things?” Because that’s how making movies works if they fuckn love each other the whole movie no one gives a shit when they talk about life at the end of the film.
You can’t spend time with a deceased person. I thought Hemsworth captured hunt well.
Amazing Movie, watch this again and again! Loved the action and acting.
Damn he looks just like him
I was a Goodwood once and I saw this guy dressed as James Hunt in his F1 car. Said “wow you look just like James Hunt” he said yeah he’s my dad 😂
As far as I can tell, Hemsworth could just use Freddie Hunt's behavior :D
Im pretty sure he played him well.
And his son has clearly inherited some of his character traits.
I saw majority of real life james hunt interview and interactions that were portrayed in film and they matched 100%. Youre probably never going to get the small bits of dialogue 100% accurate but whether in the garage or in the paddock, no one is going to know exactly how james reacted in each situation except for the team
"Truth is too awesome, dude, no one would believe it"
This isn't that weird a practice in filmmaking, in Hacksaw Ridge, Mel Gibson omited and changed a few things because people would think it was unrealistic, the same with The Death of Stalin where, while the movie is a comedy, Field Marshal Zhukov has far fewer medals than he had in real life because otherwise it would've been too distracting.
Chris has done a great job , Daniel Brühl performing was genius , Iven Niki Lauda was surprised
Freddie Hunt is definitely rhyming slang.
If the guy in the interview is any indication of his father’s behaviour seems like Chris Captured him perfectly
Looks so identical to his father 😂
He looks EXACTLY like his father! 😳😳😳
To be fair, James Hunt was not only a bit eccentric, but he allowed his personal life and habits to become public knowledge. Proudly. What was Chris Hemsworth supposed to do? Talk to this guy, who wasn't even born when his dad was racing, or play the role of a character that James Hunt himself seem to enjoy playing in front of the television cameras? If you want pure reality, make a documentary. If you want a two-hour hollywood-movie, don't expect them to play it straight.
well said!
All the best for the 2024 season.
I think Chris did an excellent job.
Hunt was an arsehole, he was not a nice guy.
He cleaned up his act by 90s but the guy was a menace in 70s.
Based on this interview, Hemsworth seemed spot on.
Damn he talks almost just like James! Though I think if he's still around, he'll definitely have "a word" with Ron
Hemsworth didn’t spend any time with Thor either and he still nailed it 😂
Love it just like his dad legend!! Wish he played his dad ...
Met this guy in a pub on the Isle of Bute
Daniel nailed Nikki Lauder just an amazing performance! If you haven’t seen it see it just for his performance
I agree with that statement , Chris Hemsworth should have spoken to the family
You mean they dramatized a movie because real life doesn't play well in movies? No way. 🤯
The real James Hunt would be hard to capture accurately because he was and is of a type most people have no understanding of.
"The truth is too awesome no one would believe it" kinda strange coming from the guy that directed Apollo 13.
Cant speak to a dead man.
Knew Freddie from back in the day in midhurst. No comment on him calling other people twats... But we were all idiots when we were young.
What does he mean? It’s two arrogant people learning respect through fierce competition. I don’t think anyone came away from that film thinking there was a good guy and a bad guy…
Freddie Hunt would have been 6 when his dad died, we all romanticise our parents when they die when we are young but the truth is we never really knew them.
"He basically played Dad like a twat" Hunt's whole charm was that he acted like a twat on the outside as a mental game 😂
Chris is a super hero actor, they don't act
so many unanswered questions still... truth truth truth hes right
You can see his straight-talking father in his son!
Daniel spent time learning from niki, if Chris did the same I reckon it would have been a pretty stiff performance.
Jesus christ mate
