#HarleyBentonBanjo #BudgetBanjo I wanted a backup banjo. I gave this Model BJ-55 Pro a try. YES, I can recommend it, (with some suggestions) This is the Harley Benton BJ-55 Pro 5-string resonator banjo.
    * update ** I've been told I have the tension to loose on the head and it needs to be tightened to 91-92 ** thank you for your advice.

I've been curious about these SUPER INEXPENSIVE banjos, and this video does a great job of showing what it really is!

Great video, Ann! I had to get rid off my old banjo a couple years back but I've gotten the urge to play again so I ordered one of these cheap ones, I am currently waiting for it to be shipped. Can't wait to get to picking again!
My last banjo I had was professionally set up but now I'm gonna try to do it myself.

Thanks for the compliment! I have a banjo that I've owned 30 plus years. I recently took it to Guitar Center for a "premium set up" He charged me over $200!! Never again I said to myself. Learning how to do banjo repairs myself has been very fun for me!. Happy pickin'

are you sure it's Lita? Do you possibly mean Iida? spelled iida (pronounced EEda) a man's name.

In this price range, of cause you have to adjust any instrument completely by yourself, but in the end of this hard work you may start to like it, or hate it and sell it to somebody else for the same price, so nothing should go wrong with Harley Benton Banjos :D

Nice. I don’t live too far from Vegas.

I have read that the resonator is not made out of wood but out of a composite material. Looks like a nice banjo. I have my eyes on two banjos from Goldtone, a AC-5 and a CC-50RP. More expensive but is it worth the money?

i am not sure what the resonator is actually made of. The spec sheet says The BODY is mahogany but ill have to look into it.

I want to buy one Banjo, and have the chance to go to a second hand Epiphone MB-200 or this HB BJ-55Pro (new of course), both at the same price. Do you know wich one is better? I'm 62 y/o and I'm completely lost in the world of Banjos, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@@AnnLippert1 that's good. It's all about the love of the instrument anyways, long as you enjoy that's all that matters.

How is the HB banjo holding? Still enjoying it? I think this banjo is great for starters who are not sure if they want to learn to play the banjo. I have my eyes on Gold Tone CC-50RP but costs a lot more. Around 570 euros. Is it worth the money?

the banjo is out on loan to my friend in Los Angeles who wants to learn. She is enjoying playing it last I heard!

This is not at all a prime example of what banjos are capable of sounding like. At 88, the head tension is way too loose and that's why, sorry to say, this banjo sounds so lame. Up the head tension to 91~92 and then we're talking a banjo that's ready for a proper & meaningful review.

I never claimed to be a banjo expert. If you think up the tension to 91-92 i believe you!!! and THANK YOU!! Glad i bought that drum dial!!
