I once saw him with his wife and kid at a pizza joint/bar near Pittsburgh. Obviously we all knew who he was and we wanted to geek out and go say hi. However, no-one did because he was with his family. On his way out he walked through the bar and shook some hands (including mine) and told the bartender "no-one's glass goes empty for the rest of the night." Best night of my life.

      Unless the coaching staff tells
Safetys to run and stick with a certain play scheme
Safetys can pursue whatever they feel is necessary in the moment of play.
That is why they are hybrid players
      Good for Defense and Offense.

      Completely Agree
Ed reed was good but he had Ray Lewis.
Palamolu was in a breed of his own. Who can remember a player that changed the game after the game has been around for 90 years. I’ve never seen anyone jump a line like he does. Could you imagine being on the receiving end of him jumping the line? That’s so insulting and demoralizing to an offense. You can’t even drop back after hiking the ball before I’m over the line and in your face. I’m a cowboys fan and he’s my favorite defensive player behind dick night train lane. I think he’s better than deon. Deon wasn’t a complete back. He was always scared to tackle someone. They never show that on film.

Imagine having a top 10 lb for pretty much most of your career telling where you should go. Ya that’s what Ed reed had. In no ways did I say Ed reed wasn’t good but polamalo didn’t have anyone near the same level as ray Lewis and he still was just as dominant. As a Pats fan I think Polamalu is better than Reed. Reed is amazing but his job was made easier by having Ray Lewis as his linebacker letting him be a center fielder. Polamalu played everywhere and impacted the game in so many different ways. Had Polamalu played with Ray Lewis that would've been scary.

    • @christopherriley2462
      @christopherriley2462 4 роки тому +39

It's hard to compare the two, Reed was a FS and Troy was a SS they have two completely different jobs, Reed was suppose to be the guy deep to stop anything long and help the CBs, however SS are sometimes considered and extra linebacker and are more the blitzing and run stoppers, plus Steelers at that time and still somewhat today ran a heavy zone blitz scheme which put Troy at the point of attack going after the QB most plays. Troy also had Harrison and worilds as his linebackers and both were extremely good at their job

Shore Yote Ed Reed was a different type of safety. But I do see what you mean. Ed Reed was a coverage safety who revolutionized deep coverage tactics for DB’s as a whole. Polamalu was good in deep coverage, but excelled more so at covering receivers and tight ends within 15 yards (at least for a safety). As a Giants fan, we’ve never had a SAFETY even close to a Troy or Ed, but both ultimately revolutionized the game in their own way.

Lol ya'll dont know this works huh? Once a player retires the NFL doesn't own the rights of the player which in turn means Madden doesn't have the rights. In order for the retired player to be in the game EA has to go out and buy his rights from him. Some players just dont wanna give their rights, hence Polamalu, Peyton manning, Terrelle Owens etc who haven't been in the game since they retired. So unless EA goes out and throws but load of cash at him (which is vary unlikely because of how notoriously cheap they are) then don't expect to ever see him in Madden.

Every time I comeback to look at his highlights I alway go away with realizing how much of a gentle beast he was on the football field.

Definitely my favorite player of all time. Man was so humble yet devastating. It was a pleasure watching his career since USC.

In my opinion the best safety to ever play. And honestly he could have played any position he wanted.

It's kinda funny I was thinking while watching this that this guy could of played both ways maybe a RB on offense.

Never heard of him until now but his attitude towards the game of football is amazing. Most players will say there the best Troy didn’t go out and boast because of what he could do he just knew he was good and would keep playing that way not holding back

Such a legend. Very nostalgic watching this. I grew up during this era of football.. brings back a lot of good memories.
