yeah 100% always put a towel under the cat when youre bathing them. it gives them something to grip onto and thats way more comfortable than a plain sink
@•*{SpringChicken}*• their tips arent even tips lol, its complete misinformation. Cats ARE afraid of water, or to be more precise, the feeling of water hitting their fur, and no zoologist ever has ever said otherwise. Their fear has nothing to do with the environment, they dont care where the water comes from, bucket, sink, shower or bath, they just dont like the water.
if they wanted to make an actually helpful video, they couldve covered how to properly condition a cat to water using positive reinforcement if you have an adult cat who has little to no experience being bathed and is showing fearful behaviors, doing it in the sink vs bath vs shower is likely not going to make a big difference. you need to focus on their fear response to the water as an unfamiliar stimuli

ALWAYS CHECK THE TEMPERATURE . DO NOT USE NORMAL SHAMPOO. get a dog shampoo. also if it's hot outside they like it even more to cool down. I've had to wash my cat two times. The first time she looked at me like I was trying to murder her. The second time it wasn't a whole lot better. There's got to be a real good reason to wash my cat.
Once my roommate went on vacation for 2 weeks and about a week into it, her cat got so depressed that she climbed into the bath tub and peed in herself then just laid down in it without even trying to clean herself. The cat got a bath. Now the cat follows me around any chance she can.

Cats don't need baths exept if they can't clean themselves properly. For example if they are old, sick or really young, after a rescue it can also be needed. So it's unecisary stress if you ask me.
In general, a healthy adult cat doesn't require bathing unless he or she has gotten into something that has coated the fur and can't be easily removed with brushing, Cats groom themselves naturally, however their owners should help keep them clean by brushing or combing them regularly. Their fur gets matted and cold whilst bathing, therefore not necessary.

Many cats are afraid of water because of a past event, most commonly, from being caught out in a downpour, being sprayed with water, or being forcefully bathed or submerged. The shock of sudden wetness can linger and cause cats to avoid water at all costs
Bro my cats clean themselves and are perfectly healthy and clean, your making the cat more angry and stressed by lifting them up and placing them in water when they just want to clean themselves stop trying to make people feel bad when the cat is just doing what it does naturally, plus all of those cats in the video are trying to book it out of there and they are being forced to stay
I hope you never own another cat in your life. Sometimes you have to prepare for cats who get too dirty to clean themselves, don't clean themselves at all, or just straight up can't do it anymore. Even if a cat doesn't look dirty, they may need a bath. Even if they don't like it. I have a cat who can't reach his back and I had to shower him. He didn't like it, but after that shower he was the most active and happy cat I've seen. And that was only because his back was FINALLY clean. Situations can be worse than just big cat can't reach his back. If you have a persian cat for example, showers might be required multiple times. Persians have extremely sensitive digestive systems. If you change their diet, chances are high they shit themselves and you have to clean crap out of their fur. I truly pray you never have another cat, considering that older cats will usually stop bathing themselves as well.
This is actually false, it’s really inconvenient for most cats to be bathed yea there are certainly breeds that need more fur care and treatment then others but most of the time it just really uncomfortable for there fur to stick to them it also removes there sent. Cats also naturally clean themselves so there’s almost no need to bathe them. One last thing water also can be very loud and due to cats hearing being at higher frequencies then humans it can be very loud and startling to most cats!
I have a cat who has the same problem, terrified of running water. I sink bathe him in the kitchen bc the sink has two sides, one sides was soapy water and the other has clean water. He does great as long as he don't hear the water come on.
Cats do need a bath every very long once in a while to kind of get rid of odor. Even cats can smell at time especially if they got into something! Plus a bath at least once a year is good for them.
You can bathe card buy mostly it is unnecessary stress. We had a 19 year old cat and only ever bathed him 2 and that was because he managed to roll around in wet creosote and another time when he got covered in burrs.
Exactly, water only damages their natural furr and their own saliva is the best option as it gives a natural, clean, fluffy, shiny and healthy furr and skin.
@@temp3462 they should only be washed in extreme conditions, such as flea infestations or fecal matter matting thier fur, Cats do not need to be bathed on the regular. Sure my cat loves taking a shower with us but he will bring hellfire down on us if we get him into a bath unwillingly.

@@temp3462 I completely agree. The only reason I have washed my cat is that my female cat had gotten too obese to bath her back end and there wasn't another option, as she had an odor and fecal matter all over her.
Also cats don’t need bathed on a regular basis. They are very good at keeping themselves clean, and have ways of removing bad smells from their own fur. They only need bathed on certain occasions such as, something sticky or toxic on their fur, fleas with flea shampoo, they can no longer or refuse to clean themselves (usually caused by physical or mental health issues). Bathed don’t hurt them (as long as your doing it right) but they don’t usually need them.
@@tabbi888 Fleas can gain immunity. In fact, that's why every few years they HAVE to create a new formula. Doesn't change the fact your cats can still get fleas and get dirty because of them.
Um, so you do not need to bath cats unless they have real difficulty grooming themselves. This can happen with elderly cats or fat cats, but other than that, they take care of it.
Bruh. There are way more reasons to give a cat a bath. Some cats don't even care about grooming themselves. Or you have persians which are super sensitive to stuff like diet changes and will immediately shit themselves, forcing you to have to clean crap out of their fur. Or you have a dumbass cat that jumps into a ditch and gets covered head to toe in clay. Sometimes they cannot take care of it.

@@kellyhash9896 Just because a cat doesn't look dirty doesn't mean it isn't. Cats often look clean and you have to be close to see if they're actually dirty. I have one and I promise, he may not have looked dirty before that shower I gave him a month ago. But my hands were covered in grime and loose hairs after that bath. Worse yet, his hair was so tangled up and devoid of maintenance, it took us almost three hours to fully comb out the tangles. Again. Someone with a perfectly healthy cat is going to see this video and think “oh I should be bathing my cat” get what I mean? If this cat is sick, they need to make that clear to viewers, so some idiot doesn’t try to wash their cat for no reason.
I nicknamed my cat “Mr Pee paws” For obvious reasons, he needs a bath every now and again. He never likes it, but he never fusses aside from occasional meow, so I think I’m doin’ a good job.
It kinda sounds like you either don't have enough litter boxes, don't clean the one you have often enough, don't put enough litter inside, or its too small or has a lid that makes it too cramped to use comfortably. Our litter boxes lids were too low, so we switched to 35L rubbermaid bins without the lid and a hole cut in the side and about 4 inches of litter. All the pee paws and poop covered butts went away.
Cats are self-cleaning, no need to do this except in exceptional circumstances, like if you did something stupid like put flea poison all over your cat forgetting cats clean themselves.
@@curiousnerdkitteh I only bathe my rats after they stain themselves with berries or dark chocolate (all occasional snacks ofc). They get really dirty with the tasty stuff. I don't know in what circumstance a cat could get dirty but I'm guessing something similar must occur.

yeah 100% always put a towel under the cat when youre bathing them. it gives them something to grip onto and thats way more comfortable than a plain sink
@•*{SpringChicken}*• their tips arent even tips lol, its complete misinformation. Cats ARE afraid of water, or to be more precise, the feeling of water hitting their fur, and no zoologist ever has ever said otherwise. right. lol
Yep. They can dig their claws into it when the get nervous.
if they wanted to make an actually helpful video, they couldve covered how to properly condition a cat to water using positive reinforcement
if you have an adult cat who has little to no experience being bathed and is showing fearful behaviors, doing it in the sink vs bath vs shower is likely not going to make a big difference. you need to focus on their fear response to the water as an unfamiliar stimuli
My cat cleans himself. We brush him because he is long haired and needs help with the absurd amount of fur but he keeps himself very clean.
I feel like if anybody does decide to bathe their cat, they should limit doing it only a slight few times a month or two. Like you said, cats usually clean themselves, cats also have very absorbent fur
@@ilikethoseodds.4066 exactly. Of course there are cases where some cats cannot or choose not to clean themselves (rare cases and usually medical reasons) and of course then the cat will need to be bathed but if that's not the case and your vet doesn't say the cat needs extra cleaning then simple brushing works wonders for cats cleanliness and hygiene.

Are we forgetting that cats wash themselves like every 5 minutes? You should only bathe a cat yourself if they have flees or ticks that you need to wash out, or are old and refuse to bathe themselves.
To prevent furballs just brush their fur.

Cats don't need baths exept if they can't clean themselves properly. For example if they are old, sick or really young, after a rescue it can also be needed. So it's unecisary stress if you ask me.
Actually, when they get in the water, their fur coats get heavier and they don't like the sudden pressure change on their body.
The video before this I saw a dog who loves baths
He's like, "LEMME OUT!!" at the end lol😂😭
In general, a healthy adult cat doesn't require bathing unless he or she has gotten into something that has coated the fur and can't be easily removed with brushing, Cats groom themselves naturally, however their owners should help keep them clean by brushing or combing them regularly. Their fur gets matted and cold whilst bathing, therefore not necessary.

If it is a healthy cat, you don't have to bathe it.
Had a cat for 16 years...never bathed him once. Little man was never dirty. We even let him outside every day.
Cats don't need to be washed people 😅
Exactly, water only damages their natural furr and their own saliva is the best option as it gives a natural, clean, fluffy, shiny and healthy furr and skin.
@@temp3462 they should only be washed in extreme conditions, such as flea infestations or fecal matter matting thier fur, Cats do not need to be bathed on the regular. Sure my cat loves taking a shower with us but he will bring hellfire down on us if we get him into a bath unwillingly.

Your cats are so cute
They're afraid of how cold or hot the water is and their preference rests on an infinitely thin line.

You don’t actually have to or need to bathe your cat. They are one of the most cleanest mammals since they are always grooming

I have one and I promise, he may not have looked dirty before that shower I gave him a month ago. But my hands were covered in grime and loose hairs after that bath.
