Soooo many people don't know what the definition of a carry is by the actual rulebook. I get asked all the time if certain moves and combos I teach at my camps and sessions are a carry and they're completely legal. Think I'm going to make a video on that topic and really break it down... Anyways, appreciate your insight in this video and honesty on all topics. I think you're pretty accurate on all points. Great stuff! 💯
Just got sent this today! Thanks for pointing out a few of the things I got wrong in the video. I tried to do as much research as possible but obviously a lot of the time there is incorrect information online! And before I say anything else, None of what I said was meant to be taken as a negative. I've played in the top league in Ireland where our pros make roughly $30,000 (max) a year. And we've had guys like Shawn Vanzant (Butler's starting PG in the 2011 NCAA championship game) play in the league. It's the only league I've had first hand experience with and regardless of skill level, for me it's difficult to put you ahead of a guy like him. But again, that's just my opinion This was an interesting topic to cover at the time and it still is a really interesting to look back on! As you said, you never really pursued an NBA career after 2008 so everything said by anyone is completely hypothetical. But the fact that the conversation is even taking place shows the skill level that you have! Also you're completely right about the past tense thing and looking back on it I changed the tense I used multiple times throughout the video so it's something I should probably be more careful of in the future!
If NBA players played like you, I would watch it all the time. Your ball handling moves remind me of martial art moves. They’re amazing. I grew up playing hours and hours of bball. I didn’t even paid attention to NBA and I lived in California during the era of Magic and Kareem and Bird. But I felt that real bballl was on the streets and not in big stadiums and on TV. As a kid playing hours of bball, I felt I owned the sport just as any other NBA. I lived basketball and not just watched it or commented on it. I have more respect for street ballers because I see more passion on what they do. They just don’t play to win. They play to demonstrate passion which sometimes translate to winnng the game and sometimes losing it. Hey, that’s basketball. The most important thing about basketball is it took a lot of kids off the streets and gangs and drugs. It kept them fit physically and psychologically. So I’m not sure why anyone would make NBA the “benchmark” of a great bball player. Great job Professor! I will be watching more of you and your league.
Spot on man! It's the magic of the beauty people like the professor are getting out of the sport! The skill he's got is like a dance and a martial art combined!
Well said! This point penetrates through all those bla bla bla. It is really fun to play and compete with whoever you got. But one thing I don't like is to play against someone who is trying to feel good by humiliating the opponent, because that goes sour when I beat him..
Ken Tucker funny that a long time ago I assumed he was probably a wanna be punk like I played with at the big courts. We all know the type.... he’s The farther from the truth. If I lived close or went to school or city court with him, we would have clicked huge. Glad he breaks the mold
I have never been a big basketball fan, but I have always been a fan of people with extraordinary skill and abilities, which is why I follow Professor. I just want to point out that in a world of infinite possibilities, you should never, for any reason, count out a person with the immense passion, drive, and dedication the the Professor obviously has. I see people like him as being able to accomplish anything they set their minds to. And by the way, Professor couldn't be a nicer and more humble individual to boot. Truly an inspirational individual and a class act.
Well you can tell the professor would’ve been good handling the media and presss conferences. Look at how good he addresses the hateful comments about himself. He just kind of shrugs em off and says everyone has a right to their own opinion and he never says anything bad back. Seems like he’s a real humble and solid dude, doesn’t let nothing get to him or break him down.💪🏼👍🏻👍🏻
P85037 L dude in his 30s and looks like he's 19 dude is second steph a killer baller who is humble and baby face "gods plan" he's the street ball steph
Exactly like professionally or being in NBA I would get y they would say that even tho I disagree 100% and I do think he could’ve made NBA but saying he isn’t even good at basketball? Um I don’t think they even know what basketball is if they think THE Professor isn’t good😂
Agreed. I've become addicted to BIG3. Would be interesting if Professor tried out. Abdul-Rauf has been productive despite the small size but I'm not sure if Professor can shoot the three. You don't see it in the highlight tapes but that doesn't mean he can't do it, its just not great video. Anyone can make a three.
In every video The Professor handles himself with grace, kindness and class, even while he is demolishing opponents! Keep letting God use you, Grayson!
the people that say u cant play ball are obviously envious if what u can do..we can see with our eyes that ur great. what are they watching. but u take criticism well man and ur very respectful..god has blessed u and ur just q great person all around man..much love
Glad I found this video and stayed through the rough audio. I hadn't really thought about the growth of street ball how you discussed it. Very well put and it makes me happy to see how things have grown so much. Many great views into your journey in this video and I appreciate you sharing. And others said...honest and quality responces throughout. Humble, kind, and hard working...keep it up brother!
Honestly my man. If you pulled a Stephon Maubury and played overseas you probably would have turned you into the face of international basketball wherever you were. They showed Stephon immense love. You still got time too.
He's good enough for some leagues but I dont think he'd get a spot in Europe (like he said in the video, very political and fundamental based) and CBA is getting increasingly more difficult with 2 foreigner rule per team. Those 2 foreigner slots usually go to ex-nba guys and big black guys that were good D1 players. He'd probably end up in a small Asian league like Japan or Philippines and I dont think its worth it. Id like to see Ice Cube bring him to the Big 3, that would be cool
That would be awesome. I think they are only allowing ex NBA players in the league. But it would definitely be awesome to see that league have some great ball handlers like the professor.
The professor is Definitely more famous than some of the guys in the big 3 too. He would be extremely undersized though but if Mahmoud can Ball in it why can't he
The microphone is pointed in the wrong direction. That model is supposed to be pointed straight up as the capsule picks up from the side. I've noticed this in other videos as well. The result is that he has to turn the mic gain up too loud, you can even hear the room.
It's becuz whoever is editing is too lazy to do reaction videos the right way. U have to record the video and insert it in to the video and line up the audio so there isn't an echo
Well, but it's a reaction video, not the video itself Theoretically you should watch the original video if u rly wanna focus just on it The focus of a reaction video is watching someone's reaction and perspective throughout the video Some channels even make the video barely audible, I think that it's fine. Not saying it couldn't be better, but definitely good enough
Alot of young people don't realize how negative being a "Street baller" was viewed... It pretty much didn't matter how good you were it was EXTREMELY hard for you to not only be taken seriously but not looked as a bad guy negative... I appreciate Professor for not even being stuck on the NBA and doing his own thing
Yeah it was treated as being sort of like a pro wrestling equivalent of basketball. Like people straight up called of fake, said it was just sloppy and illegal and all kinds of shit Which has always confused me. I mean Wilt Fucking Chamberlain was in the globetrotters for chrissake
@@lancemannly agree even Michael Jordan hone his skill in the streets and his backyard.....who ever callled streeballers are fakes are so wrong... Damn that's tough...
I love how the dude can read biased hate comments and just shake it off and find their perspective interesting in a way and respect it. I love watching him play basketball, but I never realized how mature and great of a person he actually is, it's inspiring. Nothing but respect for the guy
Hey Professor shout ou from Brazil, we dont have a strong culture of basketball here, but brazilians love your style and the way you dribble and the passion u show for the sport, keep up the amazing work and come visit us someday
Yo know.. all things considered this guy was extremely respectful and spent a good portion complimenting you and recognizing your skill sets. How can people call this a diss video

We need the professor in nba draft 2020 who's with me? There's short people in the nba and he has so much skill I do understand how he loves playing in the street areas and stuff but It would have been amazing to see him in nba games because even now people try and put him in nba games. I have so much respect for you professor and would love if you hearted my comment I am such a fan of your dribbling I only could play defense decently but I wish I could dribble like you.😇 and may yeshua be with you in your journeys.
@@immafatazn and you do not know how not to treat people with kindness I like the professor and his basketball skills and you dont need to target anyone for just a opinion it's really childish have a good day try to learn manners 😊👍
God Bless you Professor, I am truly in awe of your skills but now I can add how real and humble you are. I've had the pleasure of watching your videos and you are truly amazing at what you do. Also the way you interact with your fans and young kids who look up to you is amazing on that front alone. You are at your prime and your movement will grow to legendary status...that's a given. Keep doing what you do, stay safe and away from this crazy virus that's flooded the earth and continue being great! My family and I will continue to watch and support you all day every day! GB!

professor imo u could play in the NBA, u have skills that r off the charts bro. the GOOD LORD gave u a special gift and I like the way u stay humble, its cool to see
The Professor is awsome and I trully respect him as a professional athlete! It is true that he uses unconventional ball handling techniques, which may or may not be legal, but still he is a true basketball artist, and no one should ever question his professional skills. I can easily say that his ball handling, weight distribution and his footwork are amongst the best in the world, and there is more to his moves that meets the eye. He studies his "opponents reactions" to the max, and adjusts his movements to them. It is maybe not be so hard to do these moves alone on an empty court, but he uses them in actual games, and after he does them he faces the basket. He is trully magnificent and I truly respect him for his hard work, creativity, imagination and vision. He does not strive to be something else or try to fit into a strict regime, since he knows his strenghts and is content whit where he stands. Wish you all the best and keep on with your magic!! Best regards
I think my favorite part is when he said “I think I could’ve fit a roster.” He doesn’t think he’s Michael, he knows he’s good. Edit : why do people dislike this vid? The internet is a harsh place.
One: there was a street baller that was in the NBA named Jason Williams. And he was a great player. Two: just because hes short doesn't mean he cant play in the NBA. Muggsy Bogues was the shortest player in the NBA and he's a legend. And Third: one of the worst basketball players scored 1 point per game. If I remember correctly. If that person made it into the NBA than the professor can definitely play in the NBA.
1. Jason Williams was not a "street baller." He played for U of Florida. Got drafted in the first round. Came up the traditional way. He did have some flashy, street ball esque moves I suppose. Wouldn't call him great. Matter of of opinion. He had some good years, won a ring with the Heat. A fun player. You might be thinking of Rarer Alston, "Soil to My Lou." A street ball legend who had a decent NBA career. 2. I guess. Sure. Short guys can play too. The leagues only getting taller though with 7 footers who can handle and shoot the three. But Mugsy Bogues was def NOT a legend. Why? Cuz he's in Space Jam? GTFOH. 3. You display a fundamental misunderstanding of basketball. Dennis Rodman could have average 0.0 points a game and still have been a Hall of Famer. Because of his defense and rebounding. Its not all about scoring. And even when it comes to scoring, its not just about how many points you score but what you take away from your team to do it. If your a 6-10 PF who averages 12 points a game, but you never require the ball, no plays have to be drawn up for you. All you points are on like fast breaks, offensive rebound put backs, and back door cuts and you shoot 70% from the field, those are some very effective 12 points. Professor is the type of player that has to dominate on the ball, have plays called for him, has to shoot threes and would no doubt have a very poor shooting %. Could he score 10 points a game in the NBA. most likely. What would it costs his team? More than those 10 points would be worth. Add in the fact that his defense would be EXTREMELY suspect. No. Hes not an NBA player. Once again, he could probably average more pointe that Rodman but Rodman's in the Hall of Fame. The Professor wasn't good enough to make the NBA. Of course the best argument is, if he was good enough, he would have made it.
Hey Professor I have been a huge fan for quite some time now...and I just wanted to say that I truly look up to you as both a great basketball and a person. You inspired me to go out and work on my ball handling and because of you I am much better now. Please never stop uploading because I love watching your videos and love to see your new content whenever it releases. Keep up the good work. From your fan, Vro Productionz
Okay, actually when Professor was first hitting his stride with And1, the NBA was at its peak with the streetball-esque/isolation basketball. Yes, Rafer Alston got a deal not because he was just a streetballer, but because he was actually good enough to make a D1 team in the first place. There's no doubt in my mind that Professor is more skilled than a lot of guys in the league, but size DOES matter. The smaller you are, the more elite you have to be to make it in the league. Regardless if there's "politics" involved or not, that's irrelevant. To say that Professor was never good enough to make the league isn't a diss, it's just fact. In any given year, the NBA only houses the 450 greatest players in the world. That's elite company. To be slightly outside of that doesn't mean he's not a great player.
I don't think he could defend NBA players..he is not physical enough to rebound. Not physical enough to get to rim vs long lengthy defenders. He's a street legend but there's a reason he never made it to league or never played at a competitive level in college
Protex Roofing No just no. Look at what happened to A.I. When he was crossing everyone and making people look dumb. The league came down on him and tried stopping it. Idk it just seems weird
The Professor is pure class and knows exactly want he's doing. He also has skills to match any NBA players and is loved everywhere he plays. And when you love to play the game as he does ..... playing is what matters. He might not have the height but he won't have a problem with the follower's. Love watching you
Listen up bro, I TOTALLY RESPECT YOU FOR THE PERSON THAT YOU ARE AND YOUR CHARACTER way more than your great skill set. Love how you carry yourself! Continue being humble and a good Christian my man. Keep hooping and Godspeed!
I didn't even watch basketball let alone NBA before seeing this guys videos. This dude is one of the most humble and coolest guys i've ever saw i think.
When I first watched that video I raged so hard lmao. I'm a huge fan of you and have been since around 02-04 hard to remember that far back. I def think you could've been an icon overseas and probably gotten some minutes in the league but you've made the absolute best of your personal situation. Much love.
I haven't really followed basketball in years. I ran across a video of yours a few months ago & I stayed for your attitude & personality( plus your insane skills). You're drawing me back into enjoying balling again. Im relearning the lingo so i can follow what your saying 100%. Thanks for being so positive, never giving up and reaching people outside the courts! Keep the videos rolling brother. We are watching....
For what it's worth I'm glad Professor didn't make the NBA your so much more helpful and useful where you are now. Man such a good role model. Not tainted by somebody who is out for fame your out here just straight caring for people like a basketball dribbling humanitarian! The streets luv you professor thank God for a guy like you!!!!
In NBA it’s Defense is really why size will affect you so much. Professor got it all but when you’re going up against teams that the shortest dude is 6’4 and can bounce through the ceiling, that’s where & when the size affects you most. Dudes can just pull up on you from anywhere when you’re under 6’ft. and then when they want to do the right fundamental play they just run you down to the block in the low post and the SF or SG drops the ball into the PG who posts you up with maybe a dribble or 2 before the turn & fade or quick spin to a layup or an up & under to draw an and 1. Whomever the short guy is guarding just runs the lil guy down in the post without ever touching the ball before he gets down there so that the lil PG like Mugsy Bogues can’t utilize his strength from being short which is his quickness and so to get a steal while the player is dribbling his way down low, NOPE, he just runs to the spot, the lil block dow low, then gets the ball dropped into him, then he goes to work with his back to the basket & turns around to hit a lil fade. Easy peasy and that’s why it’s so hard to even get looked @ as a lil dude with game. There’s lil dudes that are better than some pros but their height is something you can’t teach and on Defense is where a lil guy can’t really make up the difference. That’s why lil dude making it is even more impressive. They have to go through so much just to even have a Coach pay enough attention to give them that chance. Those lil dudes like Earl Boykins, Spud Webb and The Lil Man Legend Mugsy Bogues are the illest. They have the most skills to be able to make up the height difference.
The Professor can do things with a basketball that most people can only dream of. He didnt make it to the NBA but he certainly made it as a human being.
Some of the comments on the original video are genuinely laughable just because of the sheer ignorance, I don't think you've ever claimed to be a superstar and I think you should challenge the guy for a 1v1 who said your dribbling is sloppy so he can see how "sloppy " it is in person hahahaha
That would be so funny to just see the guy who made the comment get put on his ass by professor lmfao. What does he even mean by sloppy, it’s fucking sharp bro and unpredictable.
He's definitely sloppy if you compare him to Kyrie. Professor's handles are slow sometimes when doing certain moves u can tell he's not good at and he doesn't cross exceptionally quick either. Course u're comparing to the best handles in the league so whatever...
Yeah man I remember watching you on AND1 on ESPN. Your a legend for sure. I'd definetly like to see you get one of those 10 day contracts for any NBA team. Would be a fun moment to watch. In the right roster your skill set would work. For example right now with Harden and Westbrook on the Rockets.
I’ve been watching you since the beginning of your AND 1 mix tapes. I’m from Dyckman NYC, all we played is street ball. And I can say that you are the Eminem of Street ball. Living Legend. I wish we meet one day if you’re ever in NYC.
I’ve played sports my whole life. I don’t ball.. I’ve never played basketball at a competitive level. I watch and listen to this guy talk about ball daily. If that ain’t inspiring and influential, I don’t know what is? This guy is gem on and off the court and I really hope he unravels his ends to a mean in this game . Finding the strength and wisdom to physically and mentally overcome all odds. God bless Brother!
Some of us have been watching you since "AND ONE" or even before, Dude you have no reason in having to explain yourself to us. King of balling the Professor.
Great video. You showed a lot of grace in taking the criticism. Been watching your videos for years. I appreciate your honesty and your vision to spread the love of basketball with your ability.
Loved you when you were just a little guy in and 1. Super proud of what you do now. Proud to be a follower and fan, and I am a hard core, fundamentals coach. God bless.
Props to the Prof., making his way in the world using the tools he was given and honing them to a razors edge. I would bet that he has invested more time in training than most players that make the NBA, and certainly more than those that came close but didn't quite get there. To be fair, there are millions of basketball players in the world, and only a minute percentage even get a shot at being looked at for a pro opportunity, even smaller percentage of those have any real career from it. keep being you Professor
Ok, could you of made NBA. Yes. Been a legend? Hard to say. I played LBJ in high school and scored 24 junior year and 21 senior and lost by 4 and 7. Does that mean I could play NBA? LOL no. It's all about drive and what is your motivation. Money isn't everything. There are more enriching aspects in life that even money cannot buy. Professor did it his way. If he made it to the NBA do you think he would be spending 13 seconds dribbling off someone's head lol. Hell no. He would adapt. Just respect the fact he has put more work into improving his life, kids lives and our sport which is more than I can say about most people who post childish comments. Ball on Professor. Been a fan ever since you showed up with your sponge Bob arms 15 years ago lol ;)
What this guy is doing, and how professional he is handling business amazes me. I've only played pick up ball my whole life, but man I love this game! I'm 39 and I play 4 days a week currently. The professor is legit, someone to look up to, and he deserves respect on all levels not only for his basketball skills but the way he handles his business. Much love professor!!!
I stumbled upon the Professor a month ago on you tube when it popped up as some nerd faking guys out in Venice Beach and WOW.... this guy can play! I watched many videos of the prof since and not only is he great but a cool human, too. Yeah, no doubt he could have filled a roster in the NBA but he's doing his own thing and living life the way he wants. He has my total respect. Keep it up, Professor, you are living the dream without selling yourself short. Peace.
Some NBA team should have him as a guest player for a season to show his skill. I have no doubt this guy would be like Muggsy Bogues Height: 5'3” NBA active 1987-2001 or even better.
The Professor is just as good a person as he is/was on the court as an AND1streetball legend. genuine good dude. I enjoy watching his material. Def does a great job. RESPECT
love this guy. great story to his life. remains humble. a class act all the way. i'm not even a basketball "fan" but i enjoy watching the Professor. he's a great entertainer. keep it up Grayson you are an inspiration.
I think you can do anything you put your mind to. If professor said he wasn’t looking into the nba that early then maybe if he did he would’ve made it , don’t let people stop you from reaching your goals
Would love to see the professor play in the NBA for at least one year. Id support that team. Can we sign a petition??? All we really need is a pray if the creator of the universe wants him to. I support whatever God wants him to do in his life because it will bring Him glory. Keep doing what your doing Professor! Praise God!
U can do anything u put ur mind to,, I know u can play in the NBA !! I watched u since the first time u were in and 1 ,, I seen u grow from a young man into a great man with the best handles I ever seen !! May God bless u my bro !!
It made me smile about the long hip-hop pants... it’s true, in that time! 🤣 But it’s true, at least in Europe the referees would see some movements as illegal. Anyway it’s a good work what professor do. I saw the Philippines video and it was fantastic. There is a lot of great players outside the NBA, you only have to see my countrymen, the Spanish team (but it’s true, when they come to the top they are catched by NBA teams as Pau Gasol) but all of them grow in Spain. 😉

But one thing I don't like is to play against someone who is trying to feel good by humiliating the opponent, because that goes sour when I beat him..
the average basketball player is 6’7″ tall, hard to move like that when ur so big.
ramjamram has always had fun I
that's why Jason Williams was a sell out, also Jamal Crowford, the guy who's playing like street style in the NBA

A true role model. Love this guy! Truly "The Professor" is a professor teaching everyone to stay humble and prayed up!

That's cause he truly is the best ball handler on the planet earth. I would be as humble and reserved as him if I was in such a position as well. 😉

Matthew Morcos dude what are you talking about!?!?
“He’s not even good at basketball” If anyone says this then they r either jealous or haven’t even watched him before. Just saying...

Ikr like why you making a video of him then 😂
Exactly like professionally or being in NBA I would get y they would say that even tho I disagree 100% and I do think he could’ve made NBA but saying he isn’t even good at basketball? Um I don’t think they even know what basketball is if they think THE Professor isn’t good😂
I bet they aren’t even close to the professor’s level..it just jealousy and envy
Forgotten Austin or they know nothing about basketball period
Professor in BIG 3 basketball just a cool idea...
He would get posted up like mad.
Thats a thought
Yeah but buckets and entertainment galore tho!!
I’d watch
In every video The Professor handles himself with grace, kindness and class, even while he is demolishing opponents! Keep letting God use you, Grayson!

You still got time too.
this should be his next move honestly
Maybe he isn't good enough to play overseas
CL lmao Marbury was 10x the player Professor is. He was an NBA all star in his prime and you should show some respect by spelling his name right.
CL love the professor but Lonzo 10x better 😂 6’6 better defender/playmaker/shooter/athletic
Play in the Big 3 league
That would be awesome. I think they are only allowing ex NBA players in the league. But it would definitely be awesome to see that league have some great ball handlers like the professor.
I’m fairly certain that the requirement is former professional play, not necessarily NBA
I was think that too. Would be so entertaining. Defiantly would bring more viewers to Big 3
I would love to see all broken ankles in the Big 3 League in fact know a few good podiatrist
The professor is Definitely more famous than some of the guys in the big 3 too. He would be extremely undersized though but if Mahmoud can Ball in it why can't he
When you are this great, and this humble...thats something special. I have mad respect for you bro. I hope the blessings continue!

Well, but it's a reaction video, not the video itself
Theoretically you should watch the original video if u rly wanna focus just on it
The focus of a reaction video is watching someone's reaction and perspective throughout the video
Some channels even make the video barely audible, I think that it's fine.
Not saying it couldn't be better, but definitely good enough

Professor, I love your maturity; you took criticism like a man. May God continue to bless you, bro.
In a world of outrage this guy is an absolute joy to listen to. Speaks well for himself and takes criticism like a grown man. Very inspiring.
Dude u got a point
I mean 3 points
Who was that awful player?
@@felvelasquezm one of them is sun yum. Average 0.6 ppg.
I'm actually from Ireland and I'm young but I've been watching you for a long time and practicing some of your skills you do, I'm a big fan
Hey Professor I have been a huge fan for quite some time now...and I just wanted to say that I truly look up to you as both a great basketball and a person.

He’s not athletic enough. I second everything you say.
They probably wouldn’t let him play in the NBA but I think he was definitely good enough.

Seems legit ! About that fap: Have you heard about deep fakes? I think it's one the best new thing xD
Hyperarch, dawg
you jump higher than usual, pretty simple
In NBA it’s Defense is really why size will affect you so much.
Professor got it all but when you’re going up against teams that the shortest dude is 6’4 and can bounce through the ceiling, that’s where & when the size affects you most.
Dudes can just pull up on you from anywhere when you’re under 6’ft. and then when they want to do the right fundamental play they just run you down to the block in the low post and the SF or SG drops the ball into the PG who posts you up with maybe a dribble or 2 before the turn & fade or quick spin to a layup or an up & under to draw an and 1.
Whomever the short guy is guarding just runs the lil guy down in the post without ever touching the ball before he gets down there so that the lil PG like Mugsy Bogues can’t utilize his strength from being short which is his quickness and so to get a steal while the player is dribbling his way down low, NOPE,
he just runs to the spot, the lil block dow low, then gets the ball dropped into him, then he goes to work with his back to the basket & turns around to hit a lil fade.

I was gonna say this but you said it for me lol
He's definitely sloppy if you compare him to Kyrie. Professor's handles are slow sometimes when doing certain moves u can tell he's not good at and he doesn't cross exceptionally quick either. Course u're comparing to the best handles in the league so whatever...
Yeah man I remember watching you on AND1 on ESPN. Your a legend for sure. I'd definetly like to see you get one of those 10 day contracts for any NBA team. Would be a fun moment to watch. In the right roster your skill set would work. For example right now with Harden and Westbrook on the Rockets.
Rockets already are called the small ball lineup for lacking any one over 6'5 and you think another person that is considered undersized would fit?
