I was on one of these last December (and I wasn't supposed to - I was supposed to take a Regional-Express train from München-Hbf to Nürnberg-Hbf, but because of an accident ahead, regional trains couldn't run and we were exceptionally allowed to ride on the ICE with our Bayern tickets). Very nice ride it was, even in 2nd class.
Amazing how civilized the people are in their behavior to keep the platform so clean, here in North America, people spit chewing gum all over the place including indoors on public carpets and floors!
No different over here. This is kind of a special station, it's the entry to the german highspeed system for international guests ariving at our most important airport. We try to make a good first impression but that will change when you exit the train unless you are not taking one to a similar station like Berlin main station (but there aren't much direct services as most of them stop at Frankfurt main station instead of the airport).
This is amazing. I'd like to visit Germany and ,of course, travel in one of these trains. I'd like to see this train inside as well. Very good video.Thank you.

@komachi275 Obviously, the power cars and trailers are matched sets. But they still have more in common with locomotive hauled trains than with what was traditionally an MU. The closest relations of the ICE 1 power car are the class 101 and 120 locomotives, rather than the ICE 3. Also, the British class 43 HST is similar to an ICE in arrangement, but isn't considered a DMU. It's mark 3 coaches are special, but versions with minor changes were used with locomotives.
@KuraIthys Although the EuroTrain mixed the 402 power cars and the trailer of TGV Duplex, many equeptment did not connect well at that time. Such as Electropneumatic braking systems did not work then. Besides, the ICE-S, the test cars of ICE 3 was also based on ICE 2's powercar and powered middle coach which used on ICE 3 after that. I think there is not a "gap" between Multiple Unite and Push Pull mode train. For example, Japanese Shinkansen 400 Series also put on a trailer in original MUs
@KuraIthys Also consider the dutch trains, where there ARE two terms. Even though they look very similar in practice, the ICM 'koploper' is considered a 'treinstel' (EMU), while the doubledeck VIRM is designed as a 'treinstam', because maintenance can be done on individual carriages, but in practice it's used as an EMU. This implies the meaning of this additional type 'treinstam', is whether or not individual trailers are ever considered independent of the train they're part of...
@komachi275 Well, I wouldn't be too sure about that. When they were being tested, there were no trailers for it yet. They did tests using standard German IC coaches. The trailers have scharfenberg couplers, where many EMU's can't really be uncoupled at all without specialised equipment. The ICE power cars were also used with TGV duplex coaches for a while for a marketing attempt in Taiwan. It's clearly not that difficult to use them with other carriages. It's just not common.
The ICE 3rd generation motors sound like PWM (pulse width modulation) and frequency modulation together. Must have really big servo drivers to handle all that power !
I like the ICE trains, but one thing pisses me off: too small space for big suitcases... when we travell in a group, we always additionally book all seats in a compartment in order to put all the suitcases in there (tetris style ^^)
I agree, the luggage compartments are ridiculous for trains that are supposed to get you across long distances, typically where you carry way more stuff than on regional trains.
xXshinichiconanXx3 Trains are rated for 330 km/h, but there are no tracks in Germany that allow that speed in passenger service and only two lines for 300 km/h. In France, ICE trains go up to 320 km/h.
What does any of that have to do with this video? :D These trains are to the airport... As for trains vs airplanes. Different uses and depends on where you live. Example Paris to Switzerland tickets are around 90 euros and you can make that trip on a 350km/h trains in a amazing scenery about the same time as with plane.
Less delays and strikes than any airline and Aircon works up to 45C. Also flying is more expensive. But let me guess, you don't use trains because you don't like them, so how should you know

The train station itself is a fair distance from the rest of the airport. There's quite a long tunnel (technically a bridge) that connects it with either Terminal 1 or 2 (can't remember which) with travelators so you don't have to walk the whole way. Although in the past 11 years you might have been there yourself :)
@KuraIthys I agree, but HST has ever classified in DMU 253, too. Besides, Taiwan Railway use locomotive to haul some DMU's trailers becaus the power cars of that was too old to use. I think the train can be something just up to how to use. =D
