- It was such a privilege to interview Randy Edelman, the composer behind 'Gettysburg' (1993). He also discusses his work on classics like 'My Cousin Vinny', 'Ghostbusters II', 'The Mask', and 'The Last of the Mohicans.' Watch until the end to hear what it takes to become a great film composer!
Fabulous interview. I’ve waited years to watch something like this.
Randy is my fav, he’s so damn direct and an extreme wealth of knowledge! He should have been asked for MASTERCLASS, Hans and Danny are great but Randy is a truly a marvelous musician that can output quality music in such a short time.
Agreed!!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your interview of Randy Edelman. I remember one 4th of july Gettysburg was just starting on TNT and i caught the intro music, I said to myself, OH GOD and i started to cry. I began buying every Randy Edelman soundtrack, Come see the Paradise, Dragon, etc. I still remember his work on Macgyver. Your interview makes Randy seem so approachable. I am eternally in your debt to see him play on the piano GETTYSBURG. I know what Randy is saying, that with all the Synthesizers there are composers for film that do not know how to read or write music. THANKS AGAIN.
Thanks for watching! Randy is an amazing guy and I very much enjoyed our conversation.
Didn’t he write some songs for Barry Manilow
.?
I believe so, yes
The man wrote one of the finest film scores ever. His work for "Gettysburg" was Oscar-Worthy. No matter how many times I listen to his magnificent intro, it never gets stale. It still gives me chills. What a masterpiece.
For sure in my opinion this movie and my cousin Vinny have to be the best movies ever that Randy Edelman did the music for and that’s just my opinion.
Interview well done Josiah. Good questioning and patience while listening to Randy answer. Good follow-up questions too.
Thanks 🙏
This is great! This is a favorite score of one of my favorite movies!
This is outstanding. I've always thought about the origin for this music and could never find any music or background story about how it was written. It was my grandfather's favorite movie and as he just passed away, I got nostalgic and wanted to look into it again. Thank you for your work in doing this
