The 1980's was the best decade to be a rock fan. It was the golden age. RATT, Dokken, Crue, Scorps, Priest, Dio, Ozzy, KISS, and the mighty VH with Roth (78-85) was absolute magic. Even the soft rock like Toto, Journey, Tears for Fears, etc was great, amazing music. Great interview. Pearcys a fucking legend. Top tier all day.
Pearcy is an American treasure. Hearing round n round in 83 at the State Fair riding the Himalaya, the 80s were the Greatest time to be alive. Listening to Ratt today brings me the same Joy i had back then.
I can only imagine (or try to) envision what that must have been like!?. I was only a child in 83', but I remember that ride, going to the fairs, the "rock mirrors" they used to have for prizes and how (at the time) and not having older siblings, I had no idea who they were lol. But I have many fond memories of being a kid back then and I guess just being a kid, though I certainly wish I could have expected the decade in the same way that you had!..
Was the Himalaya that ride that went "round & round"? Ratt was great never put out a bad record the 80's were a blast a whole different world than what we're living in now keep rocking!🤘
Back in the day, I saw Ratt 4 times. Each time they killed it. I saw Motley twice. The first time was ok.. The last time when they had Randy Castillo drumming for them was great musically, Vince sucked. Ratt was phenomenal back then. Truly a great arena band.
You will never see Ratt again obviously but seeing Steven and his band is close enough. Motley Crew are bunch of fakes. If Mick Mars says they used tracks then they did. I'm a professional audio engineer and yes I mixed for national acts and even some international acts in my life time. Trax do have uses but when you are faking vocals and instrument parts, punching in keyboards and rhythm guitar when there is no keyboard player on the stage nor rhythm guitarist then that is wrong. ZZ Topp even did this when they were really big. you could here keyboards, Rhythm guitar and sax with only those 3 guys on the stage. They do not do any of that anymore though. They did it because they didn't want to pay 2 or 3 more musicians to play what they recorded in the studio and eliminator and afterburner. Click trax have been used for years simply because it so hard to hear on big stages. just to keep the drummer in time. sometimes the singer and other musicians will want it also in their monitor to keep time. It has uses to save emergencies like illness and that is the only time it should be used is if the show is booked, one the band members is really sick and maybe can't sing and he is one of the main vocalist. In the past they would just cancel and have to pay a huge bill for that. Now they will use prerecorded trax to be able to pull the show off. Big acts are big money. An arena act can make a million. A stadium act can make many millions but if you cancel you are paying every bill associated with that event.
Stephen nailed 80's rock in 1 word... "FUN" It was so much f'n fun compared to any music before or after it!!!! Also, Stephen seems like the most down to earth rockstar and just a real, genuine human being. Ratt & Roll forever! Love you guys! Ps. Please call Warren 👍

Growing up down the street from Stephen was amazing when he 'made it.' I was so blown away that we walked the same high school halls, same music stores and the same park -Presidio. It was a blast.
What i really like about RATT is that, allthough a blues-rock kinda based band, had some elements of Heavy-Metal and at the same time a contemporary sound of that era whilst still distinct and unique. What also made them great where stephens unique voice and the power duo of Robin and Warren.
Ratt has musicianship. Hairband with poppy success, yes, but they could play their instruments well, unlike a lot of other successful artists. For that, I respect them, even if I may prefer death metal. I own a few of their albums. Warren DeMartini shreds, and shreds with nuance. I believe I've heard the Dorian mode in his solos. It complements blues/pentatonic phrasing with a bit more character and complexity.
@@Synathidy Yes they knew their instruments well. What i like about Warrens playing is how he mixes the bllues/pentatonic scale with mixolydian mode and the minor scale.
I've seen em all, and one concert that really stands out is the 1985 Invasion RATT show. It's in my top 5 shows ever. They rocked and it was so fkng fun!.. Bon Jovi opened on their 7800° album, and believe it or not, they rocked it too.. I'll never forget that show.. St Louis, summer of 1985
I agree...it was sooo much fun. I was born in the 70s so I got to enjoy it. Now I am loving all of you touring again. I went to 2 concerts last year and I'm not done. Thank you to all the glam bands (I like glam myself but hair band is fine too) that are giving one last good time! 🤘🤘🤘
I’m a drummer in a few cover bands, and what I always tell them I don’t care what songs you pick but make them from the 80s because they’re gonna go over good and all the clubs and all the bars I’m not even a singer, but I sing round and round by Ratt, because I know that the female crowd will love this song Stephen Pearcy love this dude he’s phenomenal and he has a great voice. I am a professional drummer myself and have been since I was 16 and I'm 65 and we play out all the time and in four different states as well. We play a lot of cover material and I also sing but I am not the lead singer and round and round as a great song to do
Since vanilli sixx doesn’t play live I bet he didn’t play on the recorded tracks either the poseur. Ratt meanwhile scraped it out legit and still do, with all the pain to show for it, because they didn’t kiss the ring.

In the 80s I was a teen and when I saw the RATT, video where a butler had a blk leather studded bracelet, I had to have one so after working a few odd jobs, I was able to come up with the money to buy one. I still have it!. My teen kid, and one in his 20s now they want to see any 80s hair band in concert! But its harder now. Now that most 80s bands hate each other within the band its a shame, and wont play together again since they were and still are the greatest musicians that have ever lived.

Definitely NOT better than ANY rock music that came before or after it. 70s hard rock was WAY more mature.
yeah, I gotta say that Invasion tour 1985 show was so much fun.. and they rocked it
Dude. Ratt was so bad ass, way better than a lot of the HAIR bands!
They definitely had a little bit of punk influence just like early motley Crue
Way better than all of them! I think, anyways
Out of the Cellar was flawless.
Some of those tunes were the heaviest from that entire genre.
Ratt was more metal than alot of hair bands. All their songs rocked. Never did a ballad. Closest one was Givin yourself away which kicked ass.
