They make many many many of these plaques for a given song. Every producer can get one. Anyone who collaborated in any way can get one. This guy didn't get Harry's plaque, he got a plaque -- one of many -- for this song. Ransoming it was just a joke.
Why isn't anyone talking about how ridiculous it is that Spotify is charging for an award?! They make tons of money off these artists and they don't just give them an award?
Actually they are losing money every year. (Yes technically big artists still generate most of the income but it's not enough.)

Spotify isn't charging for it. The award manufacturer is.
For you guys saying he’s impersonating, he really didn’t. He signed up with his own name, and you can even see the emails sent to him that they addressed him by his actual name.

I understand the past issues Harry's had with stalkers and impostors, but George literally just took advantage of a website's security weakness to PURCHASE something. He didn't steal anything. Y'all, I'm sure if Harry cared about the plaque his team would have purchased it already & I'm sure if he did try to purchase it after George bought it and was denied then they would have quickly figured it out and Harry would still get a plaque. At the end of the day, it was a pretty harmless prank and if Spotify and the company that produces the plaques has an issue with it then now they know they need to up security measures. But I honestly don't think the manufacturer has any complaints since it's just more money for them.

The reason why the shipping cost was wrong is because the cost was calculated with a unique password and URL identification from the original URL that you got the purchase link from off Google.
Basically, those shipping options/costs were for the artist who took the picture and shared the original Google link.

They probably don't. The way UA-cam works, the award is free, but you can pay for duplicates, which can be useful if a channel has a team and wants an award for each of them. See the JackSucksAtLife video where he got KSI's diamond play button for a full explanation. I suspect that Spotify does the same.

first of all this isn’t identity theft because george used his own name while ordering and didn’t use harry’s name. second of all this isn’t his fault as that website literally has made the ordering page for the spotify plaque accessible for everyone so anyone can buy it. also all artists receive that plaque for free because why would you pay 4000 dollars for your own achievement (ordering these plaques are for other people who were involved in the song making) so harry must have already received it and may not have shown it online, george didn’t steal his plaque as many can be made for the producers/writers of the song. some people were also wondering how he had that many money to buy it but clearly in the video he mentions he was sponsored by a game. the last part of the video was obviously a joke. please watch the whole video before commenting.

It hurts me that many fans don't see the funny side of this and that makes me upset. Technically anyone can order this, let’s say you love a artist and the work he/she makes and in commemoration of your favorite artist milestone of 1 billion you decide to order it. Same reason why people put posters on there wall.
Also in the emails- when he’s talking to the company who makes the plaques he states that his name has a George.. they even reply back calling him George..
Honestly it was a really good idea to buy it. Even if Harry himself don't want it there are many people in the internet that are down paying way more than 5 thousand quid
