There's this cut of emo hardcore as a genre that captures a beautiful intersection of nature, nostalgia, and loss perfectly. It's in this song, Angry Son by Indian Summer, Nine Years Old by Policy of 3, 1910 by State Route 522... the list goes on. And honestly, not many genres have met that crossroads with the same intensity. It's ephemeral. It's pure sentiment.
And this song does it best in three lines of text. The sunny, dry landscape against the image of machines lined anxiously into the horizon. The situation of having lost someone dear and the unresolved feelings about that death. And the feeling that they'll never be able to move on.
Both this song and Song in A by Julia use these wonderful, energetic and uplifting keys. This is a side of emo hardcore that's so powerful: a sort of optimism or wonder inscribed into the otherwise sad text. I've had these thoughts for years... if I drop them on this song will anyone see it?
