I remember doin this in middle school in wood shop.....I really loved doin it and wish I still could if I had the rite equipment
My father was also a carpenter, amongst a few other trades, like he built the kitchen’s table set, cabinets, lockers. And he had some of these tools, so it’s good memories coming to my mind.

i had a teacher in the 7th grade who made pens, and she told us all about the process and even brought a few of the ones she made. it's really neat to see the whole process for myself (even if it is just through a youtube video haha)

That sizable piece of bloodwood is very expensive! While your pen project turned out beautifully, you could have been more careful as to how you utilized it (not a criticism) by cutting the stock into smaller yet lathe-able pieces. Best wishes and good health my friend.

Looked to me that Mr Z cut it in such a way as to have 2 attempts at the complete set. Meaning four pieces, but that may be just my impression. I could totally be wrong.

I have a board 2000 x 250 x 55.
I am a rich man.
Nice pen but 97% of wood destroyed not very clever should have left tree and bought a biro
Not that I am a fountain pen fan, but good ones can be passed down through generations. Plastic disposable biros, not so much.
Also, while I don't want any more tropical forest cut to support my crafts, I have various pieces of wood that were acquired twenty years ago and expect others have similar or greater stashes which should be used for special projects at some point.
That's a very classy pen, well done!

That pen is a very nice piece of work, I just hope the insides are of just as high quality. I speak from expirence after buying a pen that was in the hundreds of dollars because the outside was so beautiful, but the internals ended up being mass-produced garbage.
