David Prowse's physical performance combined with James Earl Jones's vocal performance made Darth Vader one of the most iconic characters in any film- RIP to both men!
Don't forget Peter Diamond and Bob Anderson. 💪😎✌️ Simply put, Vader was more than one man at all times. Even Ralph McQuarrie and the costumers each deserve a gaedaemn medal of honor.

But both actors served the purpose of Darth Vader. I think at certain times it wasn't David Prowse as Darth Vader but another person. I don't know who but maybe during ROTJ. Not entirely sure. I know that same situation was for Boba Fett. I found out it wasn't just Jeremy Bulloch all the way through as that character.🤫👍🇭🇲🦘✌️

He should have told him from the beginning. Also, the fact that James gives so much respect to Prowse for being the physical presence of Vader speaks to his amazing character. R.I.P. What's crazy is JEJ said he would sit down voicing Vader. It was that easy. This is apart of his legacy. He even gave permission, posthumously, permission to use his voice. King of OG's!!!!
Prowse... Diamond... Anderson... Jones... Burtt... they were all "shades of Vader". 💪😎✌️ It was difficult for any one man to embody 100% of Vader alone. Granted, I *literally* did my own share of work as Vader... which can be found on my video channel here.
They would have had to record those lines separate anyways...the mask really muffles the sound...so even if Prowse had the perfect voice he would have been recording the dialogue again ...Its one of the few iconic villain's where two people did such a great job of portraying one character. I'm not sure without either it works. Prowse had the presence Vadar needed and Jones just nailed the voice to fit the costume .

I don't know if Prowse actually had some resentment towards Jones as a result or if they had a more friendly attitude towards each other but Jones gave us so many childhood memories. The first time i saw Jones in a cinematic context as a kid was in Command & Conquer Tiberian Sun Firestorm and he left an impression on me! RIP the big V2.
Prowse had no resentment toward Jones because of this. He responded well to Jones' voicework. They later met on the same stage of the play "Driving Miss Daisy".
James earl jones was fantastic and will always be iconic as Vader but let’s not forget - his voice was dubbed in after the fact using a professional Mike/studio. David Prowse was literally behind the mask so it was always going to be shocking. You can’t compare the two equally

Not my worry anymore, James Earl Jones was the voice, but there were multiple people behind the character of Darth Vader, not just Prowse and James Earl Jones. But they did not seek recognition like David Prowse did.
Poor David Prowse must've felt underhanded by Lucas. Star Wars comes out. "Oi George, you dubbed over my performance!!: Empire Strikes Back comes out. "Oi George, you didn't tell me about that plot twist with Vader! You gave me different lines!" Return of the Jedi comes out. "What do you mean I'm not playing Vader in the last scene?"

They used his voice with some metallic effects added to his voice that way it sounded robotic. I always that vader was a droid
