Brooke's Fruited Plane for Paper Clouds Apparel on Tommy's new T shirt

Tommy's T-shirt arrived from papercloudsapparel.com featuring his autistic friend Brooke's awesome drawing of a fruited plane! The enclosed card read: "This amazing design was created by Brooke. Brooke is an 11-year-old soon-to-be middle Schooler. She is generous, affectionate, funny as all get out, and, as you can see, a talented and prolific artist. She was diagnosed with classic autism at the age of three and, while she struggles with certain aspects of the disorder, she takes pride in being autistic and sees her autism as an integral part of what makes her the incredible kid that she is."

Oh, and if you are wondering why Tommy's facial expression became somewhat angry ("my eyebrows are killing me!"), well, the trigger was that in reading the description about Brooke, he came across the words "get out", as in "funny as all get out". To Tommy, the words "get out" sounded like an angry thing to say. If you watch the video when he reads that part aloud, you will see the concern in his face at that point. Language is challenging to Tommy, but he always amazes us by his tireless efforts and progress.

When Tommy asked what "let's break it down" means, it's because someone said it to him when he was stuttering on the word individual. I guess it took him a moment to think about what the phrase meant..... I think. I love that he seems eager to learn
