As the vid starts 150 meters to the left as the crow flies is where I grew up, and I'm beyond gobsmacked at how much cleaner all the roads and streets were then compared to now. Wakefield council should be ashamed what a disgrace
I think the camera is too poor to pick up the litter. As a nipper at this time my recollection of the pavements was of them being covered in fag buts, chewing gum and white dog poo.
I was in Wakefield a lot back in 87, it’s funny how you look around to see if I can see me, or my 1980/1 cortina. This was just a few months before my youngest daughter was born at PGI, now herself older than I was when this video was made.
Wow proper 1980s with lotsa classic 80s cars in the vid, 1987 would be the year of the E reg car! Checking out the cars thru each time period fascinates me, interesting how which cars from back then have become classics and which just went to the scrap heaps!
@@251hanomag yes most new cars are bulky and bulbus and very complicated to look at ie too many lines and fat grills with bits all over! I feel italian cars nowadays are well styled as they have clean lines
As you come under kirkgate bridge on your left is C.M. EASTWOOD..ironmongers..I worked there for years..it was like an alladins cave... happy times..further up kirkgate up a ginnel was where I had my first tattoo...had it done in my dinner hour..
I don't know if it's the same bridge for for many years I remember going to Wakefield and there was one railway bridge that always had an advert for Double Two shirts on it.

I remember watching the movie Independence Day at the cinema at 02.13 in 1995 with liz from Streethouse ...seems like yesterday, nearly 30years ago 😮wtf?!
The DJ was Simon Bates Went along with DLT, & the other good DJ`s in 1993 onwards. When Matthew Bannister arrived to modernise/ruin Radio 1. To rid the station of its 'Smashie and Nicey' image and make it appeal to the under 25s. Then in January 1995 old music (typically anything recorded before 1990), was dropped from the daytime playlist. Moved onto Radio 2, & Radio Aire by then
Have you any more these? Any of the multi storey car park in Wakefield or one going the opposite way to this past Wakefield and the underpass , you go past it on here but wondered if you have any going opposite way? There was a building near the market with some graffiti on it from the 80s I'm after seeing
It just takes you back to good times ... love the music!
Roads without potholes everywhere!
Ride down memory lane that mate , how wakey has changed from today and the motors back then . Quality video

Trinity street?

Good old Mk3 Escort (camera car) crashing over the bumps. Great times, shame the planet sucks now so much.
The camera makes the bumps bigger than they seem thanks to the focal length of the lens
@@thomasmason3483 Agreed, but those old Escorts were quite bumpy ( I had a load of MK3's back in the day - loved them)

Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction!!! Brilliant!
Wow 👍👍👍 actually that's no long after the Bullring was converted from the roundabout... Great bit of history that
liked and subbed

Translation: But now it has changed in this city. In those days more people on the streets, no one has cell phones. These people had great times.
Tomorrow, this footage will be 36 years old.
Makes me feel old!

No, only did the three that`s on here
1987, 1989, & 1990.
Mainly did around Casleford & Pontefact.
And only did 12 of these videos from 1984 to 1990.
3:06 Ran a red light. 😂
Nope. If you look there are 2 sets of lights. Red was for the left lane and there was a green arrow for straight ahead for the right lane.
It's really interesting seeing these videos, thanks for sharing them! Is that an Escort you're driving by any chance?
Yes it was a 1300cc Mark 3
When Wakefield was a living, breathing, thriving city.
But they kept voting Labour.
This guy does his best to be in the wrong lanes but was nice to see his film
Mark 3 Escort?
Yes a 1981 one
