Trust me, I LOOOOVE long videos because I can craft along with you while you talk. I totally agree about being inspired by other people but taking what fits you from it and not feeling the need to do exactly what they do. I watch *so* many different people's videos for the inspiration and "company" while I create, but my work always looks different because no one is exactly my style, know what I mean? Taking bits and pieces that you like and combining them is what art is all about!

I could honestly watch your videos such as this all day!! There is no such thing as too long. This is the only way to learn!! It's more like a TRUE tutorial or class. Please do many more like this. No speed up. I learned so much in this tutorial. Thank you. And by the way... Your English is beautiful..... Even better then some people I know where as English is their first language.

I've just started to watch these break a blank page videos because I'm obsessed with trying to learn mixed media and art journaling. I love how you explain your process. I'm really trying to learn. I've been looking in our thrift stores (odd shops and 2nd hand shops) for supplies. I was fortunate to be gifted watercolor crayon destash from my friend and recently found a nice stash of about 50 tubes of watercolor paints of various companies as well as an assortment of brushes and assortment of watercolor paper pads for $30 USA. I believe I just need to try it. YOU INSPIRED ME SO much

I love that you're so real and honest while you are working. So brave to share our thoughts and vulnerabilities. Never boring, I love hearing your thoughts as you work through the "happy accidents", we call them "God nods". Those are the moments when we acknowledge the imperfection of man in light of the perfection of God. Native American art will normally include an imperfection that was planned into the work to show humility to The Creator.

Thanks, Marta! Once again you give us so many ideas for mixed media projects. I take the opportunity here to tell you how thankful I am for your adverts on scrapiniec products. I ordered some of their products lately (I am lucky enough to have a sister-in-law who is Polish and so I could have them directly from Poland, and by the way, she is from Wroclaw too!!! ) and I am really satisfied with all the products i ordered: they are very intricate and beautiful! So keep on inspiring us with your beautiful projects! Hugs from the south of France

can I just say how much I am enjoying your videos. It's not only that I am learning so much about different techniques.... that is only the half of it! the other half is listening to your voice and more importantly to what you say, not only about art, but about life!! You are SO emotionally intelligent, and always full of positivity. My life changed drastically in March (i have a life-long condition which on and off leaves me disabled)... finding you has brought some much needed light into my life.... and inspiration, when I am limited in so many ways. I have a 9 year old daughter who also loves your videos, and it has given us a shared activity and a new focus. These things are the essence of life.. So, Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! sending my very best wishes... Holly :O)

Marta your the inspiration I have been in search of. Thank you from the bottom of my Heart! You are truly the most informative teacher I've found! You feel like a lovely friend, someone that anyone can relate to. Your videos are guiding me in the a way no one else has touched in my journey for this yearning I have to create art in many mediums. It has been for awhile now, my desire to start a new love of my visions. You say and know all the right things to say as if it's coming from my own thoughts. I am new to all this! I have many supplies in my stash. As I've yet to do. I have recently done one journal page, lol with eye shadows and my home made art supplies I made my self from many diy videos. I enjoyed it so much. I am still building courage to use the many expensive supplies I have been waiting to use. That being said, your series of all the different types of art is giving me courage to jump in and start regardless of the outcome. your right. it's just a learning experience. sorry so long, just wanted to let you know how your information how products work helps so much-needed knowledge, as the products don't always have a great description of what you can use it for, especially if your new. What a helpful guilde you've shared in so many products! God bless and thank you for all you share 💖💜💕💙💚💛❤💞💕💗❣

I'm not really a beginner anymore, more intermediate but I loved watching your 4 videos, I already knew most of your techniques but I loved hearing you talking while I was making my own pages, without following what you did but I loved having your company during this time and of course, you gave me some ideas, and I also discovered this Australian website which is great! I'm going to buy those stitches stamps. It was really great to hear you teaching to beginners because someday I'd like to teach art journalling to people too. Thanks a lot for those great videos. I especially appreciate that your videos is at normal speed because so many people makes videos very fast and it's not easy to see and understand well what people makes. I also really like hearing you chatting, I think everybody likes, you're pleasant to hear and as you're not a native English speaker it's easier for other not native English speaker to understand you (I'm French). Thanks a lot!

Hi Martha, I am so glad to have come across your video on how to start a blank page. Journaling is something I have just begun with absolutely no idea and zero drawing skills. It is something I wish to try as I want to get out of my comfort zone ...and you are God sent !
You make it so so easy, no fuss nor fear. Just try it out, go for it and like you say, why not?
I love, love, love your work and you truly seem like a person we all can hang out over coffee!
Keep doing what you are doing and may you only get bigger and better.
Much much love from Malaysia xx

Your video is the right length for me to create with you! Way cool! We have an Office Supply store called Staples in America. I love using 3 mm wood veneer pieces. I have good-sized one-word sentiments that are wood veneer. I need to check Tim Holtz stuff so I can design gentleman cards for my three sons, a grandson, and my brother. I hope I can find ephemera or stickers that he designed.
I don't plan either. I just get out some materials (including papers, journaling cards, vintage papers, butterflies, gems, etc) that go together well in color. I am so excited these days by creating. I have two tall shelves full of my crafting stuff in my living room, but I create at my kitchen counter. It works so much better than my art table. I have set my art table up with papers and paper-cutter, my Sizzix Big Shot, my Xyron thingie, and my stamping supplies too. One of the tall shelves is next to my art table in my living room. One of the shelves is further away, but still wonderful too and accessible too. I live in an apartment and I live alone so things are set up precisely as I need them. Near the kitchen is a small dresser that holds art stuff on top of it. It is so handy. I have LOTS of old jewelry that I have to go through and put together a small metals tote. I have a larger basket (Yogi Bear picnic basket almost) that I still need to decide what to put in it. I think I might put burlap stuff in it, plus my ribbon. I will remember to use those items more if I have them in the basket. It is the only basket kept from a generous-sized basket collection. I could not keep everything when I moved into this one-bedroom apartment.
I finally ordered heavy, white gesso from Prima on Amazon. You DO KNOW HOW TO WATERCOLOR!! (I just realized that this video was created in 2016. LOL I will leave the rest of what I wrote previously! I love your watercolor flowers and leaves/branches, your butterflies and BOHO creations. I wish that you would sell some of your drawn, cute creatures! I forget how long ago it was that you showed one or two of those.
I love my Inktense pencils and I just ordered the Stabilo woodies 3 in 1...a set of 10. I cannot wait for those to get here. They are my Valentine's gift to me. When you do not have a significant other, you treat yourself. It is part of how I plan for Valentine's Day as it is so much about couples.
My next item to save for is a digital camera so I can join the Cafe. Since you recorded this in 2016, I hope you still see this comment.
No worries from here about your woodpecker. I had gotten past even hearing it anymore until you mentioned it now. Right now I hear it ALL THE TIME! Like living near a train and you learn to block it out, even when you sleep. I think some people are just too picky and need something to complain about. Sigh.
I want to send just a smaller envelope of crafting items for your 2020 World Mystery challenge. It will not be much, but I want to do it!! I will email you so you can send me your address. Actually, you already have my email address, since it is now 2020.
I need to start having oatmeal, since it is so good for you. The fruit thing is great! I sometimes fry one egg (it goes quickly) and have fruit with it. I need to check how processed Cream of Wheat is. In 1982 when I was pregnant with my oldest son, a cooked cereal named Wheat Hearts was so wonderful, but, like Whip N Chill (a dessert), it is no longer sold. Your body has gone so long without something to create energy after sleeping, especially if you do not have a tiny snack at bedtime. Coffee is great in moderation. Moderation in everything in this life tends to be a good idea.
I am not proofreading this. I usually do edit, but I do not feel like it right now. I try to edit as I go, since that is what I did during my grad program. I like the product where you used your ATC prints. I wish you would do this at your online store. Yes, in 2020 Marta has her own store online YAY!

    I LOVE butterflies too. 😃
That's a nice pair of scissors from your father, and the bracelet your Mom gave you is beautiful.😃
No, I don't stand, when I create... I have problems with my heels, so I prefer to sit.
Suzie sounds sweet. I love animals too, and especially dogs, too, but my husband is a cat person... so we have a cat.
If you use water with acrylic paint, it helps slow the drying time... but it does weaken the colour, some.
I love each of the pages you you created in this video.😃💕

Thank you for your video. I love your words of encouragement and creativity. I really cannot say which one of the pages I like best . They are all wonderful and fun. You have given me the courage to go and just use my supplies. You were right when you said it's easy to just look at all your supplies and not be able to use them and to keep buying more thinking that it will help you to start your art. It drives me crazy. But now I am just going to go for it! Plus if I spend any more money I will be broke. :)

Your words, although a few years ago, ring true even today. I'm fearful/scared every time I try something. I understand more clearly now what you said at 38:03. I think when we follow someone on UA-cam, we're thinking they never make mistakes; never are in fear of the final product, etc., but the more I hear from other UA-camr's who are creating, they've learned from someone and were in fear, too. We try to be perfect in our craft; but perfection isn't reality in the creating world; trial and errors and learning from them is what's real. I'm hoping to be less hard on myself and enjoy what I have in front of me at the time. BLESSINGS to you and your family, MARTA. You're the 'real thing'.
