I got a 2008 389 long nose. It is my first truck, and the only one. I have never driven any other. I have friends that drive Volvos, Freightliners and I must say, I was lucky enough to not make the same mistake they've done. Nothing beats a classic Pete, with 1.4 million on the C15 still runs like a champ, and I won't go for a new one because sadly they don't come with CAT. I just put a new six pack, and converted the twins to a single with ceramic coated manifold from PDI and it got even better.
I was actually able to work at the plant in Denton as an intern back in 2019, I ended up solving a couple minor issues for the 389’s while I worked there. I love this model, it was so fun to see them getting assembled as they went through the plant. And it’s even better seeing them lined up and rolling around the back lot to testing with those MX-13s roaring.
I know why you ordered it with the gauge package as opposed to the GPS. I have a 2019 389 from Tulsa. The GPS will not dim, even though it was replaced twice, and had numerous updates. You have to dim the gauges so low that you can't read them, or it will blind you at night.
Unfortunately never got a chance to drive a Pete as of yet , never understood all the hype. After watching this I must say I'm impressed. That's a really nice truck!
YESSIR! My absolute favorite semi when I was a kid was the classic Peterbilt. Such a beautiful rig. I always loved those visors because they look like big angry eyebrows lol. Do those come with every Peterbilt? I always thought people spent some good money on the big chrome ones that look extra angry. It would almost look weird without it, it's practically par for the course. Weird thing was, I never loved the Kenworth W900L the same way.. always thought they were just trying to rip off my beloved truck. I was too young to realize that they were sibling organizations and probably quite similar boiled down to the nuts and bolts haha.
Gorgeus truck... only thing i would change is the headlights... i love the old small round ones.. probably gives a bad light, but i just love the looks of 'em... :)
You can't beat that Peterbilt at the top of the line you can't hear the road and then you can only beat about the ride or comfort and the looks of a Peterbilt and respect a peanut butter and that's the
So these new but "old" trucks, do they just look like the old ones but still come with the new tech and emissions or are they built like the old ones both lookswise and when it comes to tech and mechanics?
Probably a small drop. Depends on the highway speed more than anything. If say 75 then you'd see a definite drop. The new engines use "down-speeding" or lower RPM's to improve mileage. That's why 3:36, 3:25, 3:08 gears are more popular. Plus the torque curves have moved lower in the RPM range. So everything is lower. All to increase fuel mileage.
I've owned 389's since they were called 359's. Nobody that owns a 389 gives a damn about fuel mileage. You buy a 389 for the ride. You buy a 389 for the driver comfort. You buy a 389 for the power. You buy a 389 because they break less than any other truck on the road. You buy a 389 because of resale value which is the best in the industry. You buy a 389 because of the service. You have an issue, Pete shops are on it like hair on soap. Above all, I buy and drive a 389 because I don't want to worry about my truck.
For give me, but when covering the dash, you said it had am/fm "CD" player. Sorry, but I did not see a cd player. Just me being old school. I like the option of having a cd player if needed or wanted at the time.
Hi keith, want to custom order a new389 with older dash full guages. If u have any spot available for the custom build, we can move forward. Plz respond
Porter greetings. 🇺🇸 This is one sharp Pete! Love the color!🥰 I didn’t hear what tranny it has & if it has disc brakes or not. Will listen to the beginning again. Are both stacks live? Hey, this truck would look great in my driveway!😎 It’s been a long time since I looked at a new rig…Kenworth T2000. 🥰 Sweet stuff! 🥰🤩✌️
I am in the market for my first long hood Pete or W900L. I live down here in Northglenn. Everyone I've talk to insist that your shop in Greeley is the go to for repairs as apposed to the Denver location. Figured I'd start here and kick some virtual tires instead. What are the starting prices on average for said units?
I've always wondered: How come the engine doesnt get flooded when the exhausts are pointing straight up? wouldnt it need that little kind of hatch ( that little flap on the top of the exhaust) that you sometimes see on tractors?
If you can get almost everything you showed here except in the Darker blue ive seen, we need to talk. Need the full lockers for sure and that larger rear end. But ive had several people mention the 18 speed automated may be the way to go. But i run to alaska sometimes and wonder how that automated transmission would hold up on the ice in the mountains.
If you're going to pull on that air horn PULL ON IT😁 I know I've mentioned I wanted to buy a used Peterbilt but after giving it some thought I've decided to go ahead and purchase a brand new Peterbilt I'd like to work with you all contact you Monday The 18th

Damn. I am not a trucker and I would own that just for the coolness factor.
An old school truck with modern touches.
In 5 years I wanna have my own Brand new Peterbilt.
Just love that sound when he pulls that hood down old school
👏🏾👏🏾👍🏿💪🏿😍🤗
The 389 will always be my favorite Peterbilt.
Still looks great after all these years. Modern, classic look.
That red frame flatop in the background is 🔥
I was thinking the same thing until I saw the DEF tank. I can't deal with all that Elog and emissions crap.
Cuando vale para Perú

I agree. That is one reason. I prefer the old school gauges and use my phone for GPS.
It´s a beautiful truck. Good that they still make these kind of trucks.
Unfortunately never got a chance to drive a Pete as of yet , never understood all the hype. After watching this I must say I'm impressed. That's a really nice truck!
IMO you MUST have four Queen Mary horns on top of the cab. Swift needs to be told to MOVE IT!!!!!!
I'll give you my stimulus check for this. Should be more or less even.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful truck Keith! You sure can spec out a nice piece!
Thanks 👍
SWEET PETE!!! I bet that 605 Cummins will haul the mail with the 18 clicks and a 3:36!
Beautiful truck. Also bless you on that sneezer there.

Sou brasileiro, amo esses caminhões, são lindos de mais , é sonho aqui no Brasil,
Makes me wanna go out and get a CDL just so I can park this beauty in my driveway. :-) That color is fantastic!!!
You're gonna need a bigger driveway LOL
I know nothing about trucks but I'm enjoying these videos
I think a lava orange frame would’ve looked good with this color
Wow..... never seen a Pete in that color absolutely stunning love it very much
That looks like one hell of a smooth ride those 2022 Peterbilt trucks 389. Hopefully 🙏 someday I’ll own one lol.
Those tapered stacks are pretty cool
Yes, they are. I didn't notice them until I saw your comment.
Just beautiful man would love to have that truck. Awesome video.
I always thought these trucks looked boxy and old school but after watching this video I think they are amazing
You guys have the best looking trucks and great videos. I’m not even a truck driver… where do I learn?
Gorgeus truck... only thing i would change is the headlights... i love the old small round ones.. probably gives a bad light, but i just love the looks of 'em... :)
The air horn and the C.B. antennas make it look like a truckers truck.,
Really nice truck. Will put 4.10 gears and a wet kit and the fog lights. And that’ll be my perfect ride
I swear, I’d like to buy one just to drive the cab around. There, I said it!
Hey Google keep on trucking West Coast east coast and all around you cannot beat that ride
You can't beat that Peterbilt at the top of the line you can't hear the road and then you can only beat about the ride or comfort and the looks of a Peterbilt and respect a peanut butter and that's the
if there was a perfect truck , this truck would be it

I like the one you are showing but I want to see the black one you have over there on the left
So these new but "old" trucks, do they just look like the old ones but still come with the new tech and emissions or are they built like the old ones both lookswise and when it comes to tech and mechanics?
This guy will Ace any pre trip...😂
it is really a pity that PBs dont sell in Australia... also because of the length restrictions, we cant have a bonnet truck with a long long hood...
I don't know anything about but still watching
Now that is a beautiful truck
What a beauty 😎
I’d keep driving if I could drive something like that 😀😀👍
Hello how are you doing
The us trucks are so beautiful ❤️
Damn that truck is beaaaauuutiful
E também eu trabalhando com um desses, seria mágico.
I don't normally swear but...goddamn that thing is gorgeous!!
i prefer the 579 ultra loft, better mpg and airo
Really nice truck wish caterpillar would make a new clean running engine
Greetings Keith I was just wondering do you know what the fuel mileage would be if a truck like this had 3.55 gears instead of 3.36 gears?

We can get lighter. This one is around 18,500lbs. We can come up with a lighter spec if you prefer.

Yes I agree
I've always wondered: How come the engine doesnt get flooded when the exhausts are pointing straight up? wouldnt it need that little kind of hatch ( that little flap on the top of the exhaust) that you sometimes see on tractors?
There is a small hole at the bottom that allows moisture that doesn't evaporate to escape.

It will hold up fine. It's a manual with an XY shifter attached. So durability is not a problem.
I wish I could buy this Truck. Very Sharp 👍🏾

Beautiful truck. What’s the MSRP? Would be really nice to know.
