I was an AGM for Burger King in the Toledo Area in 2016. Unfortunately this one closed because of poor sales. The company actually reopened a store that they closed over by Flower Hospital for the better location. Hopefully someone moves in to this location. Great video :)
My old stomping grounds! My brother worked at that Burger King briefly in the early 90s. My mom and I used to go to that K-mart when I was a kid. They had the deli with Italian subs and the big cafeteria towards the back. I believe that store closed long before wal- mart moved in. Where the Wal mart is now used to be a Hills and Kroger. Thanks for bringing back some fond childhood memories!!
The arbys near me used to have a beautiful sunroom with a real tree growing in the middle. They renovated it about a year ago now it looks super depressing.
My city's original McDonalds had something like that. Two of them in fact cuz it was a dual-lane dirve thru. I seem to recall that they would serve happy meals from inside of it. Never seen it at a BK though!
I was looking up on Google street view when the Kmart was demolished and it didn’t show me when it was demolished. This Kmart probably closed with the round of closures in 2002 or before then. Google street view only shows when the Kmart was sitting abandoned which was in 2007 through 2011. In 2015, the building was gone. The Walmart was getting ready to open in 2007. I saw the Food Center coming soon sign on the building when I was scrolling through Google Street View. The Kmart was gone before Walmart opened. Never seen a Burger King like this one in the video before. Looks nice.
I worked there back in the early 2000, it was owned by Bennett management, im really surprised it closed because this location was always busy, and at the time was the training store
Yes the booth was for payments and we could add to the order for add ons but the order was taken in the restaurant. I worked at the Burger King near Toledo Hospital in 1988-89. I worked the cashiers booth often at lunch time. They were owned by the Bennet corporation. He had a couple Burger Kings in Kalamazoo, Michigan with the booths too.
Those steps bring back childhood memories of eating at BK. I love this BK. Remember the chicken sandwich, wallie? Loaded with mayonnaise. Thanks for sharing
The two nearby me was that same design. One was that size the other was a little smaller. The owners of them both decided to tear them both down in about 2019. One is the shoebox design the other is supposedly a prototype two drive up window lanes and a very small dining room. It sucked when they did that.
Reminds me that little drive-through like me of those places that would take your event pictures and then you pick them up a few days later I can’t remember the name of the company but that’s what it reminds me that little little hot thing😊
Remodeling it into a small wedding reception hall or small part venue. We used to have a lovely small restaurant called Augie's Glass Garden. The building was a similar design.
Yup, where you were at was the corner Central Avenue and Holland-Sylvania Rd. I remember this Burger King and the K-Mart on the opposite side of the street when both places were open. I even remember when that K-Mart was demolished and I'm so amazed the store sign is still there.
Wow that interior is absolutely gorgeous! I had a bk near me that looked like that when I was growing up, but has since been remodeled into a Starbucks.
This one is only vacant because they moved to there old location by the free way over on Alexis this one was right down the road by central so it didn’t get to much activity
At some point, I've seen a BK that looked somewhat similar to this, but I don't know where or when... HOWEVER I don't think I've seen an interior quite like that. That's something! Maybe someone nearby has a rental service or something seeing all the enterprise vehicles. I notice the auto garages such as midas sometimes will use parking in a neighboring property as well for vehicle storage.
Hey Wallie there's an abandoned Subway restaurant right down the street from where I live and I've always wanted to explore it but never got the chance to.
I know exactly where this is at!!!! This was a Burger King on North Holland-Sylvania Rd next to Central Avenue. The empty lot across the street belonged to a Kmart that was there years ago. Adjacent to the.Burger King is a Walmart across on the Central Avenue Side.
That sunroom has to be the biggest sunroom I've ever seen on a restaurant.they had the play place in the sunroom in most of them.the glass room seems misleading since they have a ceiling.cashier booth is unusual.
This is near me somewhat. All these ones in Toledo are somewhat near me. I’m about 20 minutes from Toledo. Check the northwood area as well. There is a really old grocery store with the roof caving in. It’s in state rt 51. Lots to explore in the area for sure. Have fun!
I worked at one of these that had the same layout sans atrium with the seating in front of the registers. Ours did not have the hut out back but one I went to as a kid did have one.
Awesome BK! It looks like whoever owns it is using it for storage and maybe had an event or something with all of those chairs stacked up that don’t belong and Pepsi items. I’m heading to Texas tomorrow!
I know exactly where this is. Think this is technically in Sylvania. Remember this Kmart too. Dang I feel old. The Kmart went before Walmart came in there I believe. Hard to remember though. Been a long while.
That is way too cool of a building not to be occupied by a Fast Food Company or even an IHOP or a Denny's Diner grrr ....thanks for the find Wallie B .... There a vacant B.K. in Kansas City almost as nice ... I was going to get some lunch over there 1 day and I couldn't BELIEVE that it was closed up.... Had to come up with a Plan B stay awesome Wallie
Love Toledo, Ohio but not the winters. I worked at Toledo club the building is hundred years old or older in the attic the roof trusts are hand Hume you sill see the ax chops on the beam. It’s an area the public not allowed to go but I got to go there with my boss to check it out and see there was no fires
The one where I'm at in Columbia has the spatula hands still has a giant play area in it I mean this player is huge it goes all the way to the top of the roof inside and they still have all that and they have not remodel it yet the building on the outside was fixed up a little bit but that's about it
I can answer the question of why that bk is so different so back in the day when Burger King first started franchising they used to not have any rules about the restaurants looking the same that was until they started with the blue roof buildings the reason they even did the blue roofs was because people were getting confused
You mentioned you went up to Detroit did you do any videos up there I don't recall seeing any? If so I will definitely go back and look but I've watched almost every single one of your videos and I don't remember that
Abandoned Rally's across the street from Ballance Pan Asian Grille in Toledo Ohio And abandoned Speedway Gas station next door to Dollar Genral And Battery Wholesale North Toledo.
i am wondering if rhey are going turn this back into burgerking since the LG tvs if toy go around to burger kings recently they got rid of the old NEC tv screens and replaced them with LG screens liek you see in boxes i am wondering if they are getting ready to turn this back into a burger king

Wow! This place is still in great shape including the landscaping. I'm surprised another restaurant wouldn't be inerested in this location.
I used to work with Bennett Management they use this BK as a storage facility and they rent out the parking lot
Nothing like the sight of the smoke billowing out of the smoke stack is so great plus the smell of the burgers being cooked over a open flame 🔥
fun fact--there was a hills/kroger plaza there before being demolished for the walmart across the street. Loving the toledo tour!
Very cool I remember when Wendy's used to have sunrooms and salad bars. The tables also had a newspaper design.
The arbys near me used to have a beautiful sunroom with a real tree growing in the middle. They renovated it about a year ago now it looks super depressing.
6:43 I’ve never seen that at a Fast food restaurant before. The vintage aesthetics at this BK is amazing! 😻
My city's original McDonalds had something like that. Two of them in fact cuz it was a dual-lane dirve thru. I seem to recall that they would serve happy meals from inside of it. Never seen it at a BK though!
airy solarium, fake plants, those floral themed stained glass dividers...wonderful 90s aesthetics. so much lovely natural lighting
There is one identical to this in Portage, MI (6415 S Westnedge Ave), that is still open and at least as of 2023 is still original.
The Burger King in Titusville, PA, which was built in the late 1980s, has a smaller version of the solarium/sunroof type design.
This building is awesome thanks for stopping by it and do a video for it thanks wallie
There was at least 3-4 Burger King's around Toledo that had the separate order shack. They would only run it at the lunchtime rush.
Awesome Wall
Wow awesome 😎 😮

Awww the" Fox Photo" like pay at building is soooo cute! Neat BK for sure!
CarMax bought the Kmart lot close to 12 years ago and haven't optioned it yet. The Kmart was closed prior to Walmart opening.
Thanks for the update Wallie😊
I miss places like this! It also reminds me of the 1980s Kroger “Greenhouse” style stores.
I used to eat there back when I was a kid. Gawds, you going through my hometown is KILLING me!
Awesome 👌 BK
Those steps bring back childhood memories of eating at BK. I love this BK. Remember the chicken sandwich, wallie? Loaded with mayonnaise. Thanks for sharing
An awesome video,Wallie! That Burger King has great aesthetics! I really like the sun room and how it wraps around the building.
I love the blue roof burger king and the solarium 💯
Alot of the bk's in toledo have those booths.
Carmax was suppose to move into the empty lot, but changed plans.
Awesome awesome video wallie. Cool cool building. That Kmart sign was cool too.
All the cars are from the enterprise rental dealership around the corner and the tire shop next door. This was my local Burger King growing up
I miss Kmart too. This time of year I would shop for lawn furniture and outdoor dining supplies.Kmart❤

Sadly they don’t make em like that anymore and it’s such a damn shame!
Reminds me that little drive-through like me of those places that would take your event pictures and then you pick them up a few days later I can’t remember the name of the company but that’s what it reminds me that little little hot thing😊
Foto Mat
Oh, I used to love Fotomat! That’s kinda what that building reminded me of at first, glad I wasn’t the only one who thought of that.
very interesting bk. I worked for bk for 17 years in a lot of locations. my franchise never had one that looked like that. hard to tell how old it is
Remodeling it into a small wedding reception hall or small part venue. We used to have a lovely small restaurant called Augie's Glass Garden. The building was a similar design.
Two typos, sorry: remodel, party
Good video! I have seen a sunroom this big at a Burger King place before! Nice!

very nice property, well kept, thank you
Sick exploration would of been dope getting inside I love to explore places like this🔥🔥
Cool video
Should have gone down to the Enterprise and seen if they were renting the building also.

Beautiful building. National epidemic of Burger Kings, Wendy's, Pizza Huts and Rite Aids closing. Not to mention years ok the Foto-Mat kiosks
Hey Wallie there's an abandoned Subway restaurant right down the street from where I live and I've always wanted to explore it but never got the chance to.
Wow! This is a gorgeous location. Sad that it had to close for good.
I was born in Bowling Green, Ohio so its cool seeing you go somewhere so close to my birthplace!
I know exactly where this is at!!!! This was a Burger King on North Holland-Sylvania Rd next to Central Avenue. The empty lot across the street belonged to a Kmart that was there years ago. Adjacent to the.Burger King is a Walmart across on the Central Avenue Side.

Oh one more thing wallie. On the other side of the Kmart sign it shows on goggle maps of the Kmart sign still original on this Day

Nice!
Burger King and Your Rule one my Best Burger places I Been to Before.
There is an Enterprise 2 bay around the corner on Central definitely no parking there.
This is Gorgeous!! I love Burger King and this would be my go to spot if I had the chance!
They probably closed down and wanted a shoebox shape building 😢 i like the sun roof 😊
Ok. Was asking same question why close this one down?! It’s so authentic.
I wish I knew. It's a shame.
Wow I didn’t even know that one closed!
I know exactly where this is. Think this is technically in Sylvania. Remember this Kmart too. Dang I feel old. The Kmart went before Walmart came in there I believe. Hard to remember though. Been a long while.
Nice!! Burger King has good food. And man do I miss Kmart!

Our Pizza Hut in Bryan, OH has a sunroom like that. It's pretty awesome.
Thats Such a cool Blue Roof Burger
I used to stop there and take a whiz by the back door on my way home from work (it was after midnight, no one could see me).
Arbys in meadville pa has a rad sunroom to this day
BK Closed between July and November 2016.
Man, imagine if all burger kings looked like this one maybe they wouldn't be in such financial strains right now if they built them all like this one.
was that building ever a RAX restaurant?
I'm wondering of this was not a Rax Roast Beef restaurant before the company bankruptcy in 1993.. This looks like an old Rax location.
That Burger King would be "futuristic" looking if it was in the 2000's.
Neat 😀
I actually ended up getting a PT Cruiser! XD I’ve been after one ever since they came out 😂
Central Avenue and Holland-Sylvania in Toledo the Speedway in the video I go to all the time.
Scott The Woz ate their, i think
I can answer the question of why that bk is so different so back in the day when Burger King first started franchising they used to not have any rules about the restaurants looking the same that was until they started with the blue roof buildings the reason they even did the blue roofs was because people were getting confused
Looks like an old Roll n Roaster
You mentioned you went up to Detroit did you do any videos up there I don't recall seeing any? If so I will definitely go back and look but I've watched almost every single one of your videos and I don't remember that
That is an interesting BK and that would make an interesting Donut shop🤔
I like the door handles
Go to the BK by the mall. Same thing.
hey i used to work at that BK!
Wallie sometimes you add music. Do you know the group of the music in the vintage Ohio grocery store vid? Its so neat! Thanks:)
Nice I have a friend that lived in that area I email him and asked why
That's what it looks like in harbor Creek on Buffalo Rd in Erie Pennsylvania and Walgreens is closed up to tha closed up 2 weeks ago
A big park lot the old Kmart in harbor Creek
Abandoned Rally's across the street from Ballance Pan Asian Grille in Toledo Ohio And abandoned Speedway Gas station next door to Dollar Genral And Battery Wholesale North Toledo.

i am wondering if rhey are going turn this back into burgerking since the LG tvs if toy go around to burger kings recently they got rid of the old NEC tv screens and replaced them with LG screens liek you see in boxes i am wondering if they are getting ready to turn this back into a burger king
