This song still makes me cry when I hear it. I'm glad me and my siblings didn't have to experience a single parent household. Wow I feel LL Cool J pain....bless his heart.
I love this song so much. I remember reading LL's biography that came out around the same time as this album. I also lobed the George Michael sample. R.I.P. George Michael.
Every now and then it's good to listen to a sad hip hop track. Keeps people in focus with life. Mine are: This can't be life by Jay Z, Slippin by DMX, Everything is gonna be alright by Naughty By Nature, Georgie Poorgie by MC Lyte. I love sad hip hop tracks. Peace.
I was eleven when this song came out, and I remember being drawn to the song through LL Cool J’s storytelling. Although my father has always been around, LL Cool J’s writing skills allowed me to see where he was coming from and brought me to actual tears. Unfortunately, that’s something that many of today’s mainstream artists are lacking; songs with an actual message.
I was 10 when this song came out. And like you, I loved and was drawn to this song for his messages and storytelling. My dad was always there too. But I had friends who shared similar stories like LL. I made them listen to this song and it helped them in some way. ❤
Even though I can't relate to this song, it touched me when I first heard it. So much heart and soul. It's undeniable. I felt his spirit on this one. I don't understand why LL's not regarded as one of the best. It's all good. I know what you've done and I'm a fan.
Tamela Mann is the queen of gospel soloist!! Amazingly powerful vocalist!! She done a great amazingly job with the ad-libs on the song!! Gotta love Tamela Mann!!
This Song touched my heart. My dad just passed away. Got divorced with mum when i was 11. Life moved on without him 28 years later. Am 39 and i cry just thinking about him. Atleast i know what is like to have a dad. Till we met again daddy. Love you.
I can relate too much in this song, it brings back a lot of pain that I overcame and that pains turns into happiness. God, I love life, man, I was already writing a song so similar to this before hearing this song, guess Ll already did it, he prettymuch just spoke for me If y’all read this, I’m only 16
wow !!!!!!!! beautiful song . It's a calling on your life . some day i feel you will preach . to reach so many who's lost in the world . so many loves you . i love you .
having parents in your life could be all the same if they weren't in your life because it felt like they were never there based off of teachings, actions, reactions, reasons, and intentions on doing things and not doing things sure anybody can provide but what about the mental, verbal, & emotional department did u makes sure the facilities and utilities were checked there hmmm.........yeah ok get smart IDGAF who u are do your damn job father's and mother's if u don't raise em(teach em obviously) society will trust me in this lifetime we ain't playing for keeps dearly beloved we are gathered here today to get through this thing called #LIFE S/O to Prince and LL him self I miss music like this the atmosphere feeling vibe mood used to be on point 🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯💯👊👊👊👊👊👊👊
well God did say, I'll be your father when you are fatherless and I'll be your mother if you are motherless. So Any kids who don't have fathers or mothers or both, just know you do. Thats God :)
[Chorus II-Choir] All I Ever Needed All I Ever Needed All I Ever Needed All I Ever Needed Was Two Folks You Might Call Mother and Father All I Ever Wanted All I Ever Wanted All I Ever Wanted All I Ever Wanted Was Two Folks You Might Call Mother and Father
To My Dad your are the man when your beloved Wife my sweet Queen in 1988 pass away god rest her beautiful soul when I was 10 Dad you raised me Dad you was amazing father now your 81 Dad I Love you more then ever thank you so much for everything Love you Dad.
I almost cried listening to this. Fathers have no idea how important and significant they are for the son and daughter. Being fatherless is more of a horrible thing than simple words can explain and you can be fatherless even when your father lives in the same house as you. So many times that cycle of abuse, behavioral problems, violence, and the like continues for generations. I'm glad Todd didn't follow in his father's footsteps or his mom's next boyfriend's footsteps.
first time I've heard this song.... too deep for me... because I can relate to the story in a way.. what album was this on? I thought I had all the songs... :) thanks for sharing.
It is 2021 I am 41 Years of age. I have only just heard this heavy hitting extended version.. I experienced moderate anxiety. I love tracks that can hit what is left of my feelz, like this one did.
Thank God for my father; one of the greatest MEN I know . . . something is WRONG when Wacka Flacka has millons of views but a REAL song with REAL meaning doesn't.
To his credit LL survived and thrived, so many don't; his father never served time for his crimes and later tried to take over his son's life. LL allowed him back in but realized he had to put distance between the 2 of them when he starting butting into his relationship with the woman he married, he saw him for what he truly is.
They dont make music like this anymore. I really miss the 90s
This song is the cry for and from millions of people. Having a decent Father bring you up or at least be in your life is beyond words and rare.
It's all i ever wanted
💎

He deserves all the blessings that he has in his life. After all he went through as a child.
Every man is important to this planet.

The therapist that his mom was dating that brainwashed her into thinking she needed him after his father left.

BEST LL SONG EVER!
To his credit LL survived and thrived, so many don't; his father never served time for his crimes and later tried to take over his son's life. LL allowed him back in but realized he had to put distance between the 2 of them when he starting butting into his relationship with the woman he married, he saw him for what he truly is.
