This game is the reason I've found your channel so that's awesome. Regarding the need for new custom swings you're so on point. I play the 2k basketball games every year, and they have countless jumpshot and dunk packages that you can use to customize your player. So, take two games has the technology and this template to base it off of, so I'm sure they'll add it in eventually. Can't wait for the new game..haven't been playing lately but for the first year I was on that game constantly. Very fun and addicting and didn't get stale because of all the courses and society's I am in.
Love the game but 100% agree with you when you create your own character you should choose a pro swing or a pair of generic swings to pick from like the MLB games, Also hope to see maybe a world ranking system in career mode to see how you stack up in each tournament and make them challenging as well against the pros where you earn your wins or top 10 finishes.
Good review, looks like many of your quibbles are going to be addressed in 2k23. My main criticism is the career mode which I rely on as a single mode player. All the points you made plus the terrible stats with lots of numerical errors and mysterious bumping up the leaderboard of star golfers. No immersion factor for me and I hope for a BIG improvement here.
Very good review Bro. Three click is a major misfire in this game. Lots ol school golfers like myself love the three click option. Hopefully they remedy that in future games.
Your videos got me to buy the game and now I’m thousands of hours into it. I like it, it’s the most golf like sim I’ve played, frustrating almost exactly like real life golf lol I wish it had rain and other graphics upgrades, but the sound of the swing and the contact on the ball is so awesome and addictive. I wish the spin on the ball worked better though. I also wish there was a way to get it closer to real life pro golf, like being able turn on playing partners so it feels more like watching golf on TV. That would be great. The current method of showing AI shots is just annoying and hollow since every highlight is just holing out. Looking forward to new versions.
I personally hate the game. But i was playing on a switch lite. I cant see the hole and cant read any of the text on the screen. I guess im getting old. My biggest complaint is not being able to make partial swing at all, every attempt reminds me of my first year golfing in real life
@Ex troll Now living clean life glad i wasn't the only one. Sorry you wasted your money like i did. Every seems to love the console version so i may try that if the price is still low
The putting is fantastic but I definitely feel improvement is needed in every other aspect of the game. 2K need to take a good period of time beta testing a new game & not keep releasing an unfinished product. It’s the best game we’ve got but that’s not difficult with the lack of current generation competition.
Really? For me the only improvement required to gameplay is splash shots which are , as the kids say these days , O.P. Beyond that everything works as it should and graphically its excellent although the main character could be improved.
I get the error codes and loading screen issues as well and Im still on PS4. Its especially the worst when on a heater and it does this. But, overall I agree with your review. The course creator is the best feature of this game by far. Good review Apex!
Quality review here. Spot on. Not the best game of golf, but up there for sure. I do like the graphics a lot, they are fantastic at times, but then again every single modern game looks good in my eyes, compared to many ancient golf games I have loved back in the day this game looks amazing. Its not technical wonder but really good presentation for a sports game still. Swings can be pretty frustrating if you crank up the difficulty too much and dont have finesse like the reviewer here. :D Only thing I dislike about the game is the lack of customizing your rounds. You cannot just jump in on specific hole to practice and have fun, you have to do it like in "real world" pretty much.
@@dontbewoke Depends from my mood I guess. World Class Leader Board is a strong contender, its my all time favorite, previous parts were really good too. Also Links 2004 was pretty sweet, Tiger Woods 2008 I enjoyed a lot. And I have to mention Sid Meiers SimGolf, wasted a ton of hours in that one. Too much even. I also have soft spot on NES Open, its still tough as nails and takes nerves of steel. Neo Turf Masters is fun one. These come in mind quickly.
The only problem with gameplay is that splash shots are too easy ; also perhaps a green grid that disappears in about 2 seconds might be a good option to bridge the gap between no grid and grid. Non gameplay wise I think the game is severely lacking in the following ways ; 1 - Compulsory Pro skill level online makes matchmaking a no go for me (I play master.) 2 - No offline tournament feature is a big minus. 3 - The sameness of the swing ; a variety of swing types needs to be introduced. 4 - No option to edit player names in career mode 5 - Crazy scoring where top dozen players in career mode score much better than the rest of the field. 6 - The dominance of Justin Thomas 7 - The lack of a play off when you tie for the win. Career mode is also useless to play for the last 4 reasons. Since theres a real scarcity of Master clubs societies in the game it leaves matches against friends (of which I have none) and local matches on your own (effectively practice rounds) the only means to play. Thats pretty poor in my view.
I just got this game oh man am I hooked already but yes it would be better if there was bit of story but other than that very realistic and I Golf in real time
Career modes are what I love best in games like this, and I agree, it was underwhelming.
In Rory McIlroy EA game you can't save mid round. You have to finish. Do you know if you can do it in this version?

I wish you could download the Fantasy courses that people have created, instead of having to look for them everytime you want to play them
Would be nice
Go to play now, local match and favorite the course.
Nice review and I love the music from TW 2005!

Yeah I feel like 3 click would need to be separated in the online spaces though
@@TheApexHound Yeah 100% .. Just make it optional at least ya know?
@@TheApexHound True swing tournaments .. 3click tournaments .. all good

Thank you mate, Agree with that last part, Jumping to a specific hole would be awesome
Not the best game of golf? What is then?

Amazing review. I love you
Thank you!
I like to play on Master. Love the realism and struggling to make birdies and pars.
For what its worth I don't suffer from the game loading time problems as you do (I'm on xbox)

My Review
Birdie Crush game is best :D
good game, lots of work needed on the basics, played every golf game there is,have to say most enjoyable is perfect golf, pity they dropped it
This is such a nice golf game. It's a shame that they pulled it from Steam.

Apex: most people just turn the pros cut scenes off
