You guys really liked this video! Thanks for all the support, this is very unusual for these videos and this channel as a whole. Happy new years, and thank you!
Really glad you did this showdown, although it ends immediately at the nose shape. This particular Gemini 200 737 was definitely the one to avoid. Glad that Gemini has improved their moulds in recent years. I look forward to my copy of this NG Southwest 737. Look forward to seeing more!
1:200 airliner models have come along way since the early 2000’s when Herpa Wings plastic models and some Inflight 200 models was your only option at that time.
For paint gemini jets should get better score because it has thet gap painted on the nose. Ng doesnt have it so for me it looks a little bit like a toy when looking just at nose
@rpgiv3175 Actually, it's the second generation mould. Look up the AirTran 737 in 1:200 scale. You'll see how much better it was compared to this one. The landing gear featured proper details such as the gear caps with the small oval shape for the air pump to the tires, actual grooves for the tire treads, and the interior wheel hubcap designs too.
@TheMightyQuinn0127 From the looks of it, only the landing gear parts changed. The shape of the aircraft itself is identical to this one. They might have changed the tooling for the landing gear at some point, but that's about it
My score was the same except I took one more point away front gear cavity being rounded on front and back of the cavity. Too rounded. 43/60 great percentages NG. Been with them since the first United Saul bass 757 with the medal box which is soooo nice!! Agree that both models still are beautiful. Look forward to more reviews. Enjoy collecting on fellow replica seeker.
That's a fair criticism, I agree. I didn't notice it until you brought it up. I still wouldn't take away points for that issue since it's covered with both the extended and retracted gear parts. Still, NG might want to fix that in the future
@jayblair3207 The Airplane Shop sells them for MSRP, which is anywhere between $10-$30 usd more than at other retailers. Regardless, I 100% agree, these models are obscenely expensive
Thank you for the thoughtful review. I generally prefer Gemini models, but they definitely missed the mark with the nose on this one. Getting the nose right is very important to me
@@alphabravo4402 I prefer gemini for some planes as well, but this model, definitely not. I'm the same way, I am picky about nose shape. Thank you for the feedback!
@@PenAirPilot They choose not to. When you leave them negative feedback, they ignore you. If you do it multiple times, they block you. It happened to me in 2020. They do not care about accuracy, quality control, or customer satisfaction
I’ve never been a fan of Gemini. I wish Hogan still had a wider selection, love their models. Yes, I know they’re plastic vs diecast but I prefer the plastic. I’ve had Gemini stands tip over and chip the paint. Plus their landing gear is crap.
@@TemoGarcia-m6q I wholeheartedly agree with this, Hogan wings and herpa should really up their game in the 1/200 market. They have solid toolings for some planes, and they don't take advantage of it
@Crabonoe I covered that issue at the end. This is the only one that Gemini has made. They had 9 years to do another one. That's entirely on them. Edit: Also to clarify, it's exactly 10 years old as I'm typing this comment. It was released in January 2015
I mean, that’s before GJ started to dig a hole into a royal mess of QC and plenty of other things, so in some ways it’s still fair as it’s portraying GJ in their prime (to some extent)

Inflight 200 was great though.
@Rylo934They have room for improvement as well
Amazing cinematic at the start! Lol.
@CINNAMONSKYTHEJACK I usually do cinematic introductions for the 1/200 model comparisons. Glad you liked it!
So excited to watch this!

Which gap?
GJ's old 1:200 scale mould of the 737 was excellent! Far superior to the newer one.
@@TheMightyQuinn0127 This IS the old mould... the newer one is better but it also has its problems

Went to The Airplane Shop in Las Vegas. Was amazed at the insane prices these models were. Glad I didn’t buy one. Think I will build one instead.

I got the Southwest 737Max in classic gold livery for Christmas 😊

And just a moment ago i was watching the gemini jets review and also thinking about the comparison between these two
@@TheOriginalBro07 I read your mind
@@rpgiv3175 yeah it’s like a coincidence
And nice comparisons because probably next year i’m going to order the NG Models Southwest 737-700
Hello from 2025 lol. This is the first video I’ll watch this year!
I just hope that someone at GJ would see these reviews. Nice work. but DANG GJ.... get your self together!

I think the 10 year difference is pretty significant. Maybe Gemini200 should retool the -700?
@@Treu20 They did retool the -700 a while back. They just ignored the Southwest livery though
This feels like Hell’s Kitchen if it was instead criticizing planes lmao.
@@DC10_AV I love this comment, made me laugh out loud

For these prices i would expect a 707 at least it has 2 more engines
I prefer NG

The fact that people want to charge you $300 for the Gemini200 Southwest 737-700 is ridiculous. Just buy the NG
@@xSuky pretty soon it's gonna be the NG version going for those prices
@ that would make a lot more sense considering it’s higher quality from a company that puts more effort into models other than Gemini

gemini jets didnt do bad for a 10 year old model. Compared to a current one from NG.
@@AgonisticGameplay True I suppose. I personally think they could have done better, but it's still a decent model
