Wow!!! The station still looks a lot like it did in 1996 when we disembarked there from New York on a family holiday to the United States. I was 15 at the time. I remember it well because of a funny cultural difference situation that happened when we arrived 😅.
In a nutshell, people we had been with on the train scrabbled to try help us find a hotel after learning we had not prebooked one. Shocked, they all went into panic mode (bless them) whilst we were naively relaxed about it because we never struggled to find hotels in other countries we visited especially where attractions are centred. My mum was puzzled at what all the fuss was about and thought they were overracting.
So, will always remember Orlando Station because of that and ultimately how good hearted some people are over there. Found this video as I wanted to see what the station looks like today.
Wow thank you for sharing this story with us. That is so cool you remember the kind people of Orlando. I go thru this station several times per week for work and can attest they are still friendly here.

Classic full tour with you guys and love that it is the only Spanish Style architecture, but I feel they may have that in Arizona and New Mexico. It looks really nice though. It has character and makes the town look so much more interesting!

Yeah it's not everywhere or convenient. Like us to get to New Orleans we have to take train to NC then switch trains. I'd rather do many less hours by car.

We are going on the train from Orlando to Savannah at the end of the month. I read parking isn't great there. Any suggestions on long term parking near that area?
I know somebody who parked a car for 2 days there. It is on site and free parking. I would let Amtrak know so they can print you out a flier for your car dashboard. I have to warn you though the neighborhood can be rough. I work right there and take the train there all the time. His car was fine, but ticket guy seemed shocked that he wanted a parking pass, almost as if nobody parks there. If I could sneak you in my job parking lot I would but it's gated.
Is this the station that is surrounded by mostly doctor's offices? That was not a good land use plan, but it's better than the area surrounding the Winter Haven station.
Yes it is and Orange Avenue is about a block away then down another block or two for plenty of food options and shopping.

Is the silver meteor train 98/97 discontinued permanently?
It was suspended thru March 28th the last we heard. Hopefully it will return soon!

Contact Amtrak. I work by that station so I leave my car there sometimes. I'm sure they will give you permit at station. Just arrive earlier enough to get one.

Kissimmee is SE, not SW.
The 2 stations are almost lined up directly on the map but Kissimmee Amtrak is South and a little west of Orlando Amtrak. Then train heads further SW from Kissimmee towards Winter Haven/Lakeland then Tampa so south and west like I stated in the video.
