I’m so happy to finally present Saint Bernard to all of you ^_^ this project has been dear to my heart since I first finished the storyboard around 10 months ago. Every part is fantastic and I’m so happy with how this turned out! FreckleWish is without a doubt one of my favorite warrior cats. She’s always been an interesting character to me since I first read MV. I wanted a project that humanized her and showed her struggles without taking away the grayness of her character. A project that showed her wrong doings without painting her as outwardly malicious or a villain.
You’ll notice the Outro sequence deals with her afterlife, I won’t spoil anything but to be brief, to me FreckleWish was never dark forest worthy if Appledusk and Oakstar are somehow Starclan worthy, but the concept of her going to the dark forest and meeting Mapleshade once more was always intriguing, so consider the ending a bit of a middle ground that I’ll explain after the premiere -^•
If anyone’s confused about what we did for FreckleWish afterlife wise here’s a small little rundown
FreckleWish makes it to Starclan, she’s ecstatic to see Birchface, but when she sees Mapleshade’s kits she feels a strong sense of guilt, still not being able to face them or what she said to them FreckleWish runs to the Starclan border and her inability to face the kits opens a hole to the dark forest.
FreckleWish falls down and ends up in the DF for an undetermined amount of time , left to reflect on herself. Eventually Mapleshade finally tracks her down, and is determined to put an end to her once and for all. FreckleWish instead of pleading or fighting back she apologizes and accepts permadeath, and with that her soul is redeemed! Yay. Thought she isn’t fully ready to go to Starclan just yet, so she stays behind as sort of a guardian Angel to her little half brother Pinekit. I imagine once Pinestar dies she leads him into Starclan and finally rejoins Birchface Oakstar and the kits
Freckle isn't perfect but she isn't a horrible hellspawn either like so many people like to say. She did what she did out of grief and while it was certainly wrong, I appreciate how the MAP depicts her more of the character she is here than the horribly damned character people view her as.
Just saw a Frecklewish MAP not too long ago. They just completely warp the story as though Freckle were some jealous, evil witch who didn’t care about the kits, only that they were “Birchface’s”. I get not liking her for what happened to Larch, Petal, and Patch, but that doesn’t mean she was just all “lets go!!” as they were dying
oooh what a cool lil exploration into frecklewishs story, I like how in this (at least to me) freckle seems surprised that the kits were exiled, and that's where her guilt that leads her into the dark forest stems from. almost like she feels responsible for their deaths (but lets be real how did Oakstar escape responsibility for that when its literally in the clan codes, c'mon starclan)

This map turned out great! The designs you made are amazing, all the participants did a very great job on their parts, and i loved the ending and the fact that you included Saint Bernard 2 as the credits song!

THIS IS SO GOOD!! The emotion from Frecklewish is displayed nicely in this map and I especially love the credit scene of her in Starclan!
